A Sweet 16 Masquerade

Hey everyone!

I made it back from visiting my sister and my cousins with my mom without any incidents and traffic was pretty non-existant.  I had a chance to go shopping at the Super Joann's and Michaels.  Picked up some punches and some other crafty items that were on sale with some additional off with some coupons.  I missed one of the new stores in the area, Holly Lobby, which might have been a good thing.  Didn't think I could spend any more.  hahaha!

So besides going up to visit my sister, my mom & I went there to attend my sister's future stepdaughter's Sweet 16 Masquerade party.  Her name is Selena and she wanted a masquerade theme which I thought was a fun idea.  Not many of those now-a-days.  I wanted to make a card that would be fun, yet a little bit sophisticated for her.  I remembered seeing this wonderful image of a lady with a mask.  I finally tracked it down at Crafts & Me.  Her name is Natalie and she's so pretty!
Selena's colors were purple, turquoise, black and gold.  I tried to color Natalie using the same colors.  This was a very detailed image and took me a while to color her up.  I still need lots of practice, but that's good, because there is some truth in "practice makes perfect."  :)  So instead of using gold I chose to go with silver,  I thought it worked better than the gold.  This is mostly colored with Copics and since the image was the main focus I didn't do any other embellishments except for the beautiful border around the card which reminded me of the peacock feathers.

I love how she turned out.  I especially love the background I created around her.  It actually looks like a protrait.  I was so excited once it was done.  I also love how the card is framed with-in the beautiful border around the card.  That is a punch around from MS.  First time making a card like this, I know I will be making a few more like this as I now know the dimensions.  You can't really see the glitter, but I used the clear Sakura gel pen to outline parts of the image.  Here's a better angle

This image was something new for me, and lately CAS seems to be my name.  I think Natalie can hold her own on any card, so that's why only the dramatic border was all I added.  hahaha.  I'm so pleased with how it turned out!  YAY!  I also purchased a couple other images from Crafts and Me, can't wait to color them up.

Mahalo for stopping by today.  Don't forget to link up with my candy, ends on Sunday with the winners chosen randomly and announced on Monday.  For details click on the link on the right side bar at the top of my page.  Have a great Tuesday, and I hope you get to play with some crafty things.  :)

Hugs,
