Aloha Friday Challenge #40

Happy Aloha Friday everyone!

Today starts a brand new challenge over at the Kitty Bee Designs Aloha Friday Challenge blog.  It's the first challenge back for the Bees after a long hiatus.  We've had a nice long rest and are definitely excited to be back.  We hope you'll join us for the the next two weeks, here are the details for this challenge:

Ends, Friday 2/13/15, 5am Hawaii Time
Sponsor: 2 Cute Ink

We're super excited to have one of our favorite stamp companies, 2 Cute Ink, sponsoring this challenge so you definitely don't want to miss out on submitting your project.  If you need some inspiration, make sure to stop over to the challenge blog to check out Shirl's & Tania's adorable cards featuring some 2 Cute Ink images.  If you are a part of the 2 Cute Ink mailing list you will know that they give freebies out every month.  I thought the freebie for January was perfect for this challenge so I picked it for my inspiration card...

I know my card is pretty CAS but there is a little bit of a sparkle to it that I love!  I only used 3 Copic markers to color her (shadow on her wings, her bow and her face) and the rest was colored with a couple of my Wink of Stella glitter brush pens.  I picked up the yellow and black at the Crafter's Companion warehouse sale last November and have since added a green and gold to my collection. They are pretty fun to use when you don't want to color.  At first I didn't think I'd need the other colors, but it worked out well here.   I went with a pretty cheesy sentiment, yep I just couldn't help it!  hahaha!  Here's some sparkle before I sign off...

BEE Happy - 2 Cute Ink

Now this should be a fairly easy challenge for everyone as there are so many ways to play this one out.  Can't wait to see what you come up with!  Have a great day and a happy crafty weekend!

Rhodes 2 Wreaths - My sister the crafter

Hello!

Today I'm going to share some crafty goodness not from me, but from my sister, Nicole.  Back in October she posted in Facebook a wreath that she had made.  She said she saw some on Pinterest and wanted to try it out.  One of her co-workers asked for a handmade item that she could donate to her son's silent auction fundraiser at school and that is how this got started.  I was shocked to say the least.  She's not the crafty type.  LOL!!  Little did I know that she's actually got a really awesome eye for ribbon, mesh and putting them all together with some gorgeous details to create some very beautiful wreaths.  Now I am being biased, but I think these are even better than the ones you find hanging up in Michael's.

I placed an order for my co-workers for Christmas and got them just in time for them to enjoy from Christmas Eve until after the 1st of the year.  Our aisle at work was dubbed "Christmas Wreath Row."  Here are a few of the wreaths that I was able to take pictures of...

As you can see smiles all around!!  Most of them were very non-traditional colors, I asked specific ones to be certain colors based on who they were going to.  I love that she took just colors and made these beautiful pieces of art to fit each individual.  I didn't have to say a thing and she pretty much nailed it on the head with each one.  I also love that some of these can be up all year round.  I had a few more made and as soon as I can upload the pics I'll share them.  If you're interested in ordering for next year leave me a message or like my sister's Facebook page: Rhodes 2 Wreaths.

I've been working on some projects of my own and Kitty Bee posts will start up again on Friday, yay! Feels like I've been on a break forever!  hahaha!  I know I've been MIA, but now that work has slowed down, I can start back up and come visit.  For now, I hope you enjoyed today's post.  Have a great day and for those of you on the East Coast, I hope you're bundled up tight and are staying in where it's warm.  Take care!

Lilo's Fun Friday #83 - Let's Party

Happy Friday and Happy New Year!

I hope you're all having a great start to 2015.  I feel like it's been a whirlwind couple of months and that this year is still whirling for me.  hahaha!  Seriously need a break from work and need to get back in to the crafting groove.  Luckily I needed a birthday card and although it took me a while I love the end result.

I used Cheers Anya from The Greeting Farm, an older piece of MME paper, a Bo Bunny doily, flowers from Petaloo, gems from Jolee and Recollections that I colored red.  I also used a Lawn Fawn sentiment and cut it in to a quick little flag banner.  After coloring Anya I fun-cut her out and popped her on the card.  I did do a little alteration by wiping away one of the champagne glasses. A not so quick card, but a fun one and the recipient loved it.

That's all for me for now.  Not sure when I'll be back, most of my craft stuff is put away and I'm slowly getting it all organized but I'll definitely try to catch up on your blogs.  Thanks a lot for stopping by!  Take care, enjoy 2015 and happy crafting!!

Hugs,
Leanne
