Spotlight for Donna

Happy Thursday! Hope you've have been having a fantastic week. We've had some crazy weather here in So Cal. Yesterday there was lighting and thunder with some rain in the mountains and a gorgeous sunset. Reminds me of the sunsets at Sunset beach on the North Shore of Oahu. Miss those gorgeous sunsets. Other than that, my week has been pretty busy with work and softball practice. I did find time to make a couple cards though.
The first card I have to share was made for my co-worker Donna. Today is her birthday and I thought Spotlight Anya would be perfect for her card. I used Kim Yu's awesome layout for my card. I am so digging this layout and have used it for another card which I will post in a bit. I used dp from the same K&Company paper pad from my last post, so love this paper pad. It's the same sheet and it's double sided, so had to showcase both sides. I used some glittered card stock as a border and used the same Recollections border punch. I lightly sponged the border with some rocket red gold brilliance ink for some subtle pop. It adds a little something to the kraft paper. If you can't see the sentiment on the top it says "SURPRISE!" which I wrote free-hand. Here's Donna with the card. Isn't she cute?
I just noticed that my card has all the elements that the DT from Tamiko's is using for today's Thursday Teasers Buttons, Bling and Brads! Too funny!
This is such a bright and fun card, I hope it makes her smile.
I'll be back later today with another post for another friend's birthday which also happens to be today. Mahalo for stopping by. TTFN! ;)

Quietly waiting

Happy Tuesday! I made this card for the CA&F Mystery Monday case of Kim Yu's card. Isn't Kim's card fabulous? She is so creative with her projects, sigh, so much talent, she's so lucky and we are lucky that we get to drool over them, yea? hehehe...
Well I thought I would play along, trying to get back in the groove of participating in some challenges. I used one of the Dressy Anya's for this card. She is the quiet Miss sitting and waiting patiently for something wonderful to happen to her. Um, like being showcased on a card?! haha. Can you believe I've never inked her up? I thought she needed to be showcased and this setting was perfect. I used some awesome dp from K&Company and used my newest border punch from Recollections. Yes, they now have a line of cool border punches at Michael's. Believe me I know, lol..
I used some raffia for the ribbon and for the button I pulled one out of the cute flower buttons in red that I received from Jenny V.
I glittered the pretty bow on her hat & her shoes and used some green gems on the flowers and the corners of the card. I believe this also qualifies for the Lollipop Craft's Glitter, Sparkle, Gems challenge #9. I have to confess that I love how this turned out. Especially with the red border for the cool dp. Sigh, sometimes I surprise myself. Must be Kim's inspirational card. I'm planning to mail this out to one of my dearest friends for her birthday. Hope she likes it. Hope you all get to play along with either or both challenges. Have a wonderful day and as always, MAHALO for stopping by.
(10/1) I actually made this card for my good friend and fellow crafter Kathy, but didn't want her to know about it via my post. I surprised her with it today, which is her actual birthday. She was cracking up when I gave it to her, but I think very happily surprised.

I will update the supplies later.

Batty for You

I'm back for another card to share. I just finished this one for the CA&F Saturday Sketch #36 challenge issued by Pam. It feels like it's been a long time since I've participated in a challenge, so I wanted to jump back in using Pam's great sketch. Unfortunately this will be her last sketch for CA&F since her term is up. Wow that went by pretty fast. I'm sad to see her go as I've come to think of her as the Saturday sketch master. Thankfully we can all still see what she's been up to and visit her daily at her blog.
For my card I used the newest Creeper boy from the Toxic & Sweet set. I'm still not sure which is which, but for this one I'll consider him the sweet one. I think he is my new favorite. I colored him up with purple hair, reminding me of some of the anime characters I love. They are masculine looking even with purple hair.. lol. Instead of a ribbon I used the MS fence border punch in black and substituted one of the bats from the dp for the bow. I actually love this card. And I think the saying is appropriate for the background dp.
Hope you get to play along with the Saturday sketch. Mahalo for stopping by.

Tag Team Bday card

Happy Monday! Hope you are all having a good day. Today I decided to take the day off from a hectic week. The weekend wasn't long enough for me. It's been super hot here, almost high 90's-100's in some areas. Trying to stay cool by being indoors with the fans on. Haven't resorted to turning the a/c on yet. Doesn't look like the weather is going to change any time soon.
For my share today, I have a card that I call a tag-team bday card. I started it and my younger brother finished it. I altered Rain Anya by adding glasses to her face. Stamped the kitty from WS-Reeta against her leg. I colored only her hair and skin, my brother colored her outfit and the kitty. Above is the before and after.
On the inside I used one of the kittens from TGF's Ginger Bell set. Again I stamped it and my brother colored it in. I used a simple layout and once my brother colored in the rest he glued everything down to my specifications. This was supposed to be made into an easel card for my brother's gf's aunt. She loved the card and was really impressed, however she made it into a wall hanging instead of an easel card. I guess she wanted to show it off as a piece of wall art instead. Okay by me. :) Mahalo for stopping by today. Enjoy the rest of your Monday, I plan to savor the last remaining hours until I go back to work tomorrow. So for now, have a great evening!!

Michael Asher

Good evening, I have one last post for today. It's a set of letters for my co-worker who will be having a little boy in a few weeks. She asked me to make her son's name, Michael Asher, and wanted it all boy. I had a blast making this one. I chose 3 patterned paper designs and stuck in some brown and blue cs which I embossed. I used quite a few of the TGF boy stamps to decorate the letters, love all these little boys. Hoping it's what she was looking for as she didn't give me any specific colors or theme except all boy. I think I nailed it down.
Good nite for now. I'll try to stop by your blogs tomorrow to see what you've been up to. Mahalo for stopping by today. Have a blessed evening.

Update: At the last minute I decided to enter this post in a challenge over at Lollipop Crafts. The challenge was an All Boy theme. I'm so stoked to share that I won. Super stoked!

Go Greenbay!

My friend at work asked me to make her a Green Bay Packers birthday card. I went online to the Packers' website and went with super easy. The helmet itself is just all yellow and an oval with the "G" in the center. And of course I had to add a football. I made it in to an easel card for a little somethin' somethin'. hahaha.. It's a guy card so doesn't need too much to it.
Mahalo for stopping by. :)
Here's a picture of the cake my other friend at work made for the same friend. Isn't it awesome?! I'm hoping my friend's bf appreciates his gf for giving him a special birthday gift.

Surfer Ian and friend

Hello, I'm back to share a card I made for one of our general managers. He was my trainor for the yearly store training we have to do at work. He's from Hawaii and I thought this card would be the perfect card to say Mahalo for his help with my store training. I used Surfer Ian from TGF and a honu stamp from Fiskars. I embossed two different shades of blue cs and cut some curves to make waves. For the sun behind Ian I used a circle spellbinder on the orange dp. The honu (turtle) is peeking out of the waves as they sometimes do in the ocean. Oh how I miss the ocean and Hawaii. Hopefully I can get back soon. Until then Mahalo for stopping by.

Christmas gift tags & surprise RAK from Jenny V

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you are all enjoying the first day of the weekend. I sure am, I have today and Monday off so I will take advantage of my little holiday with some crafting, visiting blogs as well as updating my own blog. Hope you get to do something fun today and the rest of the weekend.
My share today is from the fabulously talented Jenny Viloria of Jenny's Creations. She sent me thee cutest Christmas gift tags and she made them into gift card holders. I added the gift cards myself to showcase her awesome creations. On the front of the tag is this really cute Christmas elf. I wish I knew where she was from, if anyone else knows please leave me a comment and I'll update this post. (THNX!) I hope you can see the details from the photo. There is glitter on her wings and white fuzzies on the trims of her hat and dress.. She paired them up with some really cool and fun striped dp. I can't wait to use them.. Is it Christmas yet?! hahaha..
She also surprised me with some wonderful RAK (Random Act of Kindness) for my birthday. First off is this beautiful fun birthday card featuring Fleur Anya. She did an amazing coloring job using summery & bright colors. And how about that cute ribbon? It looks like it's made from a t-shirt. I just love it. It's going on my wall @ work with the rest of the other wonderful cards I received for my birthday. Here is the rest of the wonderful items she sent for my birthday some cool dp, really cute flower buttons, fun ribbon and a really cute clear stamp called, Mouse and Rabbit with sunflower, from Tina Wenke. What a wonderful surprise gift and I so appreciate her kindness. Mahalo Jenny!
Mahalo for stopping by! I'll be back for a couple more posts. Hope you're enjoying your Friday. :)

OCS & 2 Challenges

Hello, back here for another share. It's also going out in the mail today to my OCS partner, Kyoko, and I plan to use it for two challenges.
This is my first time participating in the One Card Swap with Linda and her friend's and I find that I am excited to be a part of it. This is a really terrific idea to meet new people and create lasting friendships. It's also a great way to share the craft that we all love.
My card is based on Linda's summer theme, I also cased a card based on the CA&F Monday Mania card casing challenge last week and lastly I altered two Greeting Farm images for Tamiko's Thursday challenge. I made a card instead of a 3-D project, the only 3-D image I have on my card is the large flower. I combined HG Peace with Fleur Anya. I think HG looks super cute with the dress instead of her usual shorts and Peace top. Although she looks cute in that outfit, I think she needed to look a little more grown-up for this card. Not too shabby. I used some fun dp from the TPC Studio Spring Break paper pack. These papers are so fun and I love their bright images, perfect for a summer card. I mounted all the images on to a bright orange Tsugumi card from Hanko Designs.
Here are the challenges I'm going to use this card for:
1. CA&F Mystery Monday Rimna card casing
2. Tamiko's altering a Greeting Farm image and use on a card or 3-D project.
Mahalo for stopping by and seeing what I've been up to. Catch you soon! :)

Munchkins 2CS-Halloween

Hello and happy Monday everyone!! I feel like it's been ages since I've done any posting or crafting. Well I'm making up for it today. Hopefully I have visited your blogs and left you some lovely comments, if not, I'll be sure to stop by soon.
This morning I wanted to share my card that I am sending to Cyn for the Munchkins September two card swap. The theme for September is Halloween. Woo Hoo!! This is my first time participating and I can't wait to see what I receive from my swap partner. The fun is in the anticipation. Since the theme is Halloween, I figured it would be a perfect time to use my newest stamp,
Sweet, or is she Toxic (? hehehe) from The Greeting Farm. I actually got my set for my birthday, yay, and have used it only once to make a card for my friend. I decided to use the minimal amount of items on my card. Used only 2 of the stamps from the set to create a background on some dp and drew in a couple spider webs to break up the whiteness for the main scene. I colored her hair two-toned green and sparkled it up. I also sparkled the webs with a clear gel pen, but you'll just have to take my word for it as they don't show up very well in either picture. I left out the sentiment and also left the inside blank just in case my swap partner wanted to use it for something else. I'm so happy with the result and had so much fun in the process. I hope Cyn and my partner like it as well. I have to get it in the mail today as it's late, but hopefully I can claim it's on Hawaiian time. :) Mahalo for stopping by today... Have a great day!

Happy Sunday everyone! I just wanted to share the awesome blog candy I received from Berenice of Karber's Sweet Escape. It made it's way from across the border and is now waiting to be used. I just wanted to say Muchas Gracias Berenice for the candy and my beautiful card. Little did I know that I would be the recipient of this cute, cute card with Thinker Leslie. I remember posting that the person who received it would love it. And she does, she really does. :) Mahalo Berenice for being a sweetheart and honoring me with your friendship.

All About Family

Happy Monday morning!
I'm late for work, so this is going to be really short! hahaha...
Lollipop Crafts is having another challenge on their blog and it's all about family. So pop on over and check out the designs then get crafty and enter their challenge. Should be a good time to work on those scrapbook pages you've been lagging on or any kind of project including yes, cards.
I have a frame to share. My co-worker who is on maternity leave is having her first baby. I was asked to make a frame for her, the hubby and baby Michael that incorporates them and a beach theme. Well I went for simple. I chose this awesome Aloha print dp put it on a wooden frame from Michael's. Added some letters that spell out "Our Family" and in the corner I used some images from TGF to create a family. Then because it was a frame I stamped a nice memories sentiment.
Hope you get to play a long. Have a fantastik day and I'll try to stop by your blogs soon.. Mahalo for stopping by!

Happy Hello

Happy Monday! After being MIA for awhile I have a card to share for today. YaY for me! :)
Over at the Color Me Copic blog the fabulous Amy Young has posted another awesome tutorial. This time it's all about straight hair. She makes it look so easy! If you have the chance you must check it out. They are also hosting another challenge and it's based on Amy's tutorial. I tried my hand at it and tho I'm still getting the hang of shadows and hightlights, lowlights and such, I still think I need more practice. But for now, I think I like how this little girl's hair looks. Her name is Akemi and she is one of the sweet little girls from Instyle stamps. I chose to color her hair with different shades of orange. Thought this card would cheer up one of my friends who is bummed about her new work space. I'm hoping the colors will cheer her up and the cute image of Akemi is bound to get some smile out of her.
Well I hope you all get a chance to check out Amy's fantastic hair tutorial and get to play along with the challenge at the CMC blog. Mahalo for stopping by.

Summer Flowers for Kate

Hi! A real quick post for Thursday. Hope everyone is doing well. It's almost Friday, yay!
I made this card for my boss. Wednesday was her birthday. I used a sentiment stamp from Inkadinkado, ribbon, cool pretty dp from K&Company, flower & stamen punches and glitter cs. I layered the flowers to look 3-dimensional and then gemmed it with a yellow gem. Love how this turned out. I was so bummed, I actually got blocked and couldn't think of what to make! I'm so happy with the result.
Hoping you have a good Thursday. Mahalo for stopping by.

Nadys 1st

Made this sign for my supervisor's neice's 1st birthday. The theme was fairies and the colors were lavendar, cuttlebug green (just check out the color of the green cuttlebug machine), hot and pale pink. I chose to use the 3 fairies from TGF for this project. Luckily they were small enough to fit in without getting lost. I used wooden letters from Michael's and cut out the 1st with my Cricut. I have to say, it turned out better than I thought it would. The colors were perfect for a little girl and the fairies just added the whimsical touch I was going for.
Here are some close-ups
I had so much fun making this. The best parts were the colors and the fairies and the awesome dp I used. I especially loved working with the fairies from TGF. I can't remember their names, but these three are the cutest!!! I hope to use them again some day. Here they are in their individual spotlights

I also used a couple other clear stamps from Studio G that I found in the dollar section at Michael's. They added a nice touch as images for the stamped dp I used.
I apologize that I don't have a detailed accounting of what was used. I can only let you know the source of them. Sorry!!
Mahalo for stopping by!
