Two pocket card

Happy Saturday! Hope you are enjoying the first day of the weekend. I had a very productive day. I went to Michael's and picked up some wooden letters for two projects I am working on. Scored on some cool clearance items and took advantage of the sales. I also purchased the Create a Critter Cricut cartridge. Try to say that 3x in a row! lol.. No worries, it was on sale, which is the only way I will ever purchase a cartridge. Can't wait to use it, got some ideas for cards and maybe a few other projects in mind. For now I have a card to share.
If you go to the ATS (aka All That Scraps) challenge blog you will see that this week they are challenging everyone to make a two-pocket card. I've never tried to make one so thought it would be fun to try especially after seeing the DT's gorgeous samples.
I found this link for a diagonal two pocket card tutorial. It was pretty easy to follow the step-by-step instructions. For my card I used a really cool bright double sided stripe dp and on the other side a yellow with orange lines. I wasn't sure if the stripes would go the way I wanted, but I didn't have to worry as no matter which way the stripes would lay I would use it none the less. :) I used a strip of craft tape with these cute little animals for the 2nd pocket. The colors matched the dp perfectly. Above the pocket I used a sentiment from the TGF Spotlight stamp set. On the big main pocket using white cs I used a MS lace punch.
For the image I chose sweet Swiss Pixies Gretel. I clipped her wings because she wanted to be just a plain little girl this time around. I enjoyed making this two pocket card, and I hope you get a chance to play along too. I'll add the tags later, for now I'm going to put my crafts away and enjoy some tv, Grease is on and later some Anime. Mahalo for stopping by, have a great evening!! A whop-baba-loo-bop-a-whop-bam-boom! ;)

A wonderful surprise

Happy Aloha Friday! I know I'm not on the islands, but to me Friday is always Aloha Friday! I get my Hawaii fix by listening to Island 98.5 in the morning and kccnfm100 in the afternoon. I just love it! Makes me feel like I'm there and I can listen to any kine Aloha music.
Well my post today is not something I made but something that was made for me as a gift. My two crazy friends at work K & E were introduced to the wonderful TGF stamps by me and they've been hooked ever since. It's funny but totally understandable with how obsessed they are with these cute stamps. I also introduced them to Copic markers. I can honestly say that if it wasn't for me their wallets would be fat and their bank accounts in the black. hahaha.. I am such the instigator. But they love it and when they FINALLY start their blogs I'm hoping they will share what they create. Well in appreciation for my help and lending them supplies when needed K made me one of thee cutest cards I have ever received. I was so touched that she created this cute card for me. I absolutely love it! Isn't it the cutest card? She did a really fantastic job.

I heart it a lot!! I love the sakura punches she used and all the sparkle. Her alteration of Spotlight Anya and Geisha Anya is awesome and I love the colors she used. I can feel all the love she poured in to it. And I so appreciate it. The best was the really heartwarming messages they both wrote me. Sniff, sniff... Hoping these two will get their act together and start their blogs soon. Mahalo for stopping by have a great evening!

Miss Nora's Garden

Before I get on with my post I just wanted to say Mahalo for all the lovely comments you have left for me on my projects. Each one is very special to me and the best part is that I admire all of you. Thank you for making my day each and every time you stop and leave me a sweet comment. I get my inspirations from you and to read your lovely comments makes my heart full. The 2nd best part is I smile for hours on end. So lots of Mahalo to you!!! XX :')

I found this cool tutorial here on how to make a Spellbinders Nestabilities Frame card @ Mary B Giemza's blog. Like her tutorial stated, it was pretty easy once you figured out the plate order, and where you wanted to position them. I chose to use the Spellbinders large labels for my test run. Check out the cool embossed window I made, it looks pretty cool!
Doesn't it look like one of those fancy embossed cards? I loves it!! Amazing how you can make your own with just a few steps and some cool die cuts. I think the key is to have that rubber mat.
I wanted to make a small scene, kind of like your looking out of a window, so which stamp would I use? I had an idea in mind for a cute floral scene and I thought C.C. Designs Swiss Laying Nora Rubber Stamp would be perfect.

She fit perfectly in the window I created. I added some grass, flowers, clouds and a butterfly, then colored up Miss Nora popped her on some pop dots. Here are a couple side shots:

I think she looks super cute lounging in the grass with her cute purple polka dot and dark pink dress with the sparkly ribbon, the clouds and those lavendar & pink flowers behind her. I added a couple more of the punched flowers to the corners of the frames and two cool sentiments in the opposite corners to balance the card. Mounted the whole scene on this really cool grass green cs and here is the finished card:
If you haven't tried this technique I highly recommend it. It adds a nice touch to any card, and seriously, you don't need to add much to it. I'm thinking of making another one and maybe use a little boy instead. Until the next time, Mahalo for stopping by. Have a blessed evening. :)

Bad News Baller

Happy Wednesday!
Working with digis is a new thing for me. I don't have a laser printer at home so I have to rely on printing them at work. I have been wanting to ink up The Greeting Farm WS-Audrey since this little cutie first debuted. I colored her in pink and black because she looks like a baller to me. To be exact, I made her into a Bad News Baller (check out the link to the right).
Can you tell she's wearing some bling? Well I tried to take this picture at an angle where you could see the shimmer on her necklace. :) I'm super happy by the way she turned out. I didn't want to add too much to take away from her debut so I used a cute dp, a really cool punch and put it all on a black card. Used a really fun and cute sentiment stamp which I think ties it all together. I think I will post this to the July 16 FFF challenge. Also going to submit this for the Little C's Dark Pink challenge. Well that's all for now! Mahalo for stopping by, hope you have a great 1/2 way to the weekend day! ;)

Let's go fly a kite

Happy Tuesday! The Monday Mania challenge over at CA&F is hosted this week by Maire. She is challenging us to use ribbons or bows this week. An idea came to me late last night so I was up until 3am working on it until it was done. You know when you get an idea in your head and no matter how late it gets you just have to finish it? Well that was me last night and most nights.. >.< Needless to say I am super sleepy right now.. hahaha.. but anything for crafting is my motto, well within reason.
So my idea as you can tell by my title has something to do with a kite... I chose to use cute little Oliver from the OA-Happy Day set. I wiped off all the dinosaurs and drew in the lines to connect his shirt. I cut the kite freehand and let me tell you it was difficult to figure out. Kept getting confused, but then again it was past my bedtime. Drew in the kite line and attached colorful ribbons to the bottom of the kite. Used a cool cloud dp that I purchased a while back. For the grass I used the MS icicles border punch and used a versamark pen to add some dimension. I used some pop dots to raise the bottom layer of grass and slipped in the image of Oliver in between. For the sentiment I used "This one's for you" from the Spotlight kit. So love it when an idea comes together no matter what time of the day/night. Well hope you get to play a long with the challenge and make sure you check out the CA&F blog post for the details as well as some really cute samples. Have a super day and as always Mahalo for stopping by.

Amelia & Buddy

I was on a roll yesterday with the cardmaking! I just love the red checkered patterned paper that I used on the Hello Grace card that I had to use it again! I also loved the sketch so I created another card but with a slight flip to the design. Instead of using ovals I used circles and I flipped the top and bottom.
I chose to use Amelia & her buddy from the OA-Buddies set from TGF. This is also their debut on one of my cards. Aren't they just the cutest? I was looking for the perfect sentiment, when lo and behold there was one in the set. I just thought it was perfect for this card along with the stars to match the stars on Amelia's outfit. I love it when it all just comes together don't you? :)
Lotsa Mahalo for stopping by. Have a great Monday and a great week!

What's up with Washi?!

This will be the last post of the night..
TGF is having a newsletter challenge for July. The challenge is to use Washi tape which you can purchase at the TGF website or any other form of "decorative" masking tape.
Here is the card I will submit for the challenge:
What is Washi tape you might ask? Well it's a cool designer masking tape that you can use to decorate any surface, including cards. For more ideas on how to use Washi tape please visit Randi's blog. She's a pro on this cool and fun fad and she uses it so well.
I haven't purchased any Washi tape from TGF yet, but I did buy a set from Michael's that was on sale for a few dollars. The brand is American girl and I got two for the price of one. Score! This particular tape is in this cool bluesy-green color with white funky/crafty lettered words. I used the Washi tape all around my card. Love the fun words and they go so well with the main character of this card. I chose Stamping Anya for this card and a few of her sisters and a brother from the Farm.
I am using a similar idea from Rachel's blog, another fantastic crafter. I stamped a few of the TGF images on kraft cs for the background of the card. I only colored them in with a versamark pen. Stamping Anya is the only one that received some "color". I gave her shirt a tie-dyed look to match her hair band. Love how it came out. Here is a close up of what her shirt says, it ties the whole theme of the card together and it just shows how much I "heart" TGF stamps. I think Marie should create some shirts with that saying, what do you think? :)
I hope you get a chance to play along. Here are the rules from the newsletter:
NOW, it's YOUR TURN to show us "What's up with WASHI!"
This is an exclusive TGF NEWSLETTER contest and will run through AUGUST 10, 2010. Show us a Card, LAYOUT, or 3D project using at least ONE TGF stamp (no other brands, please ;) and some WASHI or other masking-type tape.
We will choose a winner to be showcased in next months' newsletter and they will WIN a FREE ROLL of Washi tape PLUS Oliver/Amelia "JOURNEY"!!!
Don't forget to email your submissions to Jessica by AUG.10th!
Mahalo again for stopping by. Sweet dreams friends and hoping you have a fantastic Monday!!

Hello Grace!

Hello happy Sunday, hoping this is a fairly short post as I am in the middle of watching Lord of the Rings the trilogy. :) hehehe I just love those movies.
I made this card for the CA&F SS #28 as well as the TGF Floss It challenge for Farm Fresh Friday. Make sure you get a chance to play either one or the other or both. For this challenge I picked Hope (or is it Grace?) from The Rock the Farm stamp set. This is one of the first stamps that I fell in love with when I first started purchasing these cute stamps from TGF. This is her first debut on one of my cards. She looks super cute, in fact my mom said she looks like Strawberry Shortcake. hahaha...

For the rest of the card I used a red gingham patterned paper, red scalloped oval, white oval that I colored in with grass and sky coloring for the background and put it all on a turquoise blue card. In the lower right corner I added a brown flourish with a red button and tied off the button with some white floss.
Mahalo for stopping by on your busy Sunday to see what I've been up to. Have a blessed day and enjoy! :)

A couple of Thank yous

Happy Saturday! Hope you're having a great one. I wanted to share two Thank you cards I made for my bosses daughters. At work we've started up what we like to call an "under-ground" softball league. Each department in our office has put together a co-ed team and each week we play against each other. Our team consists of ppl from Accounting & Finance. We voted and our team name is the Green Sox and if you haven't guessed our jerseys will be kelly green and white. For our first game one of our fans purchased some poster boards to make good luck signs. She gave them to me and I was a bit perplexed as to why. She said you're the creative one! I was a bit put off by that, but none the less graciously accepted the challenge. Mind you the last time I made a good luck sign was way back in HS.. I was going to go the easy way and use my Cricut to cut out the usual, "Go Team!, etc... My boss offered to take two of the boards home and ask her oldest daughter to come up with something. That was her contribution for not being able to come and cheer for us. I was happy to let her. She came back the next day with two creative and fun looking boards that pumped up our team to play really well. For the last three boards, my co-worker/teammate fixed them up and I used my Cricut to cut out the last sign with Go Big Sox! Although we lost the game we still had a good time and everyone appreciated the signs. I wanted to give my boss' daughter a Thank you card for taking on the challenge and giving us two really inspirational signs. I knew it was going to be a softball player so I used Baseball Ian's body & hat, and paired it up with WS-Summer's head. Colored her up with the Green Sox colors.
I put her on a 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 kraft card. Came up with the idea of putting her on a softball diamond field. Found some green dp scrap paper for the outer field, white cs for the diamond itself, and on top of that cut out the inner field out of kraft cs. As you can see I cut out the 4 bases mimicking a regular softball field. Adding some fun sayings and a softball with "Mahalo" in the center.
I also made a smaller Thank you card for my bosses youngest. She tried to help her big sis with the posters, so for her small efforts I made her this card which is slightly smaller in dimension, but still keeping with the Green Sox theme:
See kelly green & white and a softball even though it's in the flower. I don't think she'll mind though. :) Well Mahalo for stopping by. Hope you have an enjoyable Sunday!

New Mommy card

Happy Aloha Friday! It was a good day at work which is something I rarely report, but today was actually a good one. Hope your day was just as good. :)
This should be a fairly short one as there isn't really too much to this card I made for my expecting co-worker. I wish I had a picture of her, if I can find one I will definitely add it to this post. Anyhoos... getting back on track... She's expecting another baby boy in a couple of months. I decided to make her a small congratulatory card since she divulged the sex of the baby to us just a few days ago.
For this card I wanted the main character to look as much like her as possible. I used preggers Anya's body and WS-Odette's head for this alteration. I colored her as close to Delaram's skin & hair color as possible. She is from Iran and is prone to a nice dark gold tan during the summer, I am so jealous. >.< I also altered the top to make it sleeveless since she's been sporting that style for the summer. She's always looking made up so I added some eyeshadow and kept her lipstick dark. I used Stickles for her top and plain black for her pants and shoes. -> -> ->
As for the rest of the card, I used Spellbinders to die cut another 4x4 scalloped circle card and used the corresponding circles to frame her out. The card itself was from white cs and embossed with Swiss dots. The second cs of glitter soft green was also cut using a smaller sc die cut. The blue glitter paper was embossed with the swirls embossing folder and cut out with a SB circle die cut. I added a white ribbon. Normally I don't like to directly give anyone a card. I usually try to hide it somewhere where I know they will see it and be surprised. Well she was surprised and she loved it. She was amazed how much Mommy Anya looked like her. As soon as I can find a picture of her I will add it to this post. I might have a couple more to post later, but for now I'm going to see if I can get in an hour of reading. Hope you have a great evening!! Mahalo for stopping by. :)

Fun in the Sun

A real quick one and then I have to hit the hay...
Little C's is having a color challenge this week and I decided to play.
I had some left over craft paper enough to make a gift card holder. For the color challenge I went for a fun in the sun theme. With that in mind picked out a cutie from C.C. Designs that I haven't used yet. Her name is Honey Bikini and she is super cute! Using some blue card stock I embossed it with the fancy swirls to make waves for the ocean behind Honey. Used a sandpaper block to bring out the white. I colored Honey's bikini the three colors from the challenge, orange, blue & green. Used a versamark & white gel pen to create the divits in the sand. She looks ready to tan.
Mahalo for looking and don't forget to play along and make sure to check out the DT's samples on the challenge. They are super cute! =)

Wildflowers anyone?

It's Wednesday, a couple more days till the weekend. Looking forward to catching up on some sleep and maybe some crafts. I was home early today and saw the new challenge over at CA&F for WCW. It's another color challenge and this one is issued by Donna, the July Host. Please be sure to check out the CA&F or Donna's blog post for all the details as well as the super cute cards made by the DT for the challenge.
I'm using Spotlight Anya for this challenge. I haven't inked her up in quite sometime and when I saw her I just figured she'd be perfect for this card. I put Anya in a field of wildflowers, using the tutorial by Kim from the CMC blog post. I put a basket in her hands with some of the wildflowers that she's picked to give her something to hold on to. Using some dp that matched the color scheme I went for a simple design with squares just slightly tilted. I decided to go with a sunset looking backdrop to frame her out. She's ready to grace someone's dinner table with her freshly picked wildflowers.

Mahalo for stopping by tonight. Don't forget to play along with the challenge, after all the results will make someone who receives it very happy. Have a fantastic Thursday.

It's ok - WCW Color challenge

It's Sunday and I hope you are all having a good day. It's not so much hotter than yesterday, yet, but I expect it to be about the same so thinking of just staying in a crafting some more. Hope you find something fun to do today whether it be crafting, going to the movies, hanging out with family or reading, have fun with it. ;)

Club Anya is having it's weekly Wild Card Wednesday challenge and the challenge posted on July 14th can be found here.

I chose to do a slight alteration for the main character and looking into my TGF bin Jade wanted to play this time but she wanted to be a little more street so I have her head paired up with CC Thursday's body.

So melon, chocolate and aqua were the challenge colors given to us. It's really hard to pin down a melon color for coloring so I used Copics R01, 05 & 22 to make my own version of it. I attended Anime Expo during the July 4th weekend, so I am totally into colored hair right now. As you can see I used those melon colors to color Jade's hair. For aqua I chose BG05, 11 & 15 and used those colors to color in her long sleeve, belt and shoes as well as her eyes. For chocolate I chose E27, 35 & 59 and colored in her shirt and pants.
I'm thinking she looks street enough, hahaha..

For the rest of the card I used the simple CA&F SS #26.

Mahalo for stopping by, and I hope you have a chance to play with the CA&F WCW challenge.

Another B&W card

Hello and Happy Saturday night! I've got another black & white, or more like gray, colored image card to share. Staying with an Aloha theme right now, because thinking of the islands always makes me happy.
For this card I used the Club Anya Saturday Sketch #27 and incorporated the black and white coloring technique from the Color Me Copic blog tutorial.
For this card I used an Ian and Anya image from the Greeting Farm that doesn't get much ink. Colored them with the warm grays this time around. Used W1, 3, 5, & 7 plus the colorless blender 0 to color them in. First up is Anya in her Aloha attire and Ian sporting his Aloha best:

Here is the full image of the card using more of the dp from the Tahiti Beach stack from DCWV, blue cs, black cs and orange cs. Just love how this pops and I gotta say I like how the black and white image looks against the brighter paper.

I hope you get a chance to make something fun for the summer and if you need inspiration or a sketch check out the Club Anya blog. They always have fun ideas.
Mahalo for stopping by tonight. Have a wonderful Sunday.

Aloha Friday

Aloha Friday everyone! I'm back! It's been awhile and much too long since my last post. I'll try to catch up with some posts of the projects I've done hopefully this weekend. All I can say is I've missed this part of my day. It's been soooo HOT here in Los Angeles and yesterday we had a freak storm which lasted 20 minutes and a fantastic rainbow was the result. The bad thing is that although it rained it was still about 80 degrees! Ugh! We are expected to be in the 90's-100's this weekend =/ it would be a great time to be in doors crafting with the a/c on. Cross your fingers for no rolling black-outs. :)
Ok on to the the post: Have you been over to see the latest Color Me Copic blog post yet? If you haven't please go and check it out. On Wednesday, Rachel Schneider posted a cool tutorial on coloring with black & white and also issued their first challenge which can be found here. Isn't it great?!

I've never had the opportunity to do a black and white colored image, but after seeing the results from the tutorial I had to try it. It was fun and I love the result! For this card I used Fleur Anya from The Greeting Farm. I also used Copics C00-C10 to color Fleur Anya:

Not too bad. I'd like to practice more on the shading, but for my first time I likes it. :) For the rest of the card I went with a cool but simple dp, added some photo corners, a sentiment and mounted it all on a black card:
If you haven't tried this technique and would like to see more, check out the details here.

Mahalo for stopping by, have a fantastic evening and a great weekend! ;)
