Y&FH CH #17 ~ All About Dad

Good morning!

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend so far. :)

Today starts a brand new bi-weekly challenge at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  With Father's Day just around the corner we thought it would be nice to get ahead and create some cards for our wonderful dads.  Challenge #17 is All About Dad.  Stop by the Y&FH blog to see all the details and then stop over to Rosemary's blog to see her adorable card.

Do you recognize him?  If you look a little closer you'll see it's Bob the Yeti with a geeky twist!  I thought it would be super fun to use him for my ode to dad card, but I didn't want him to be his normal cool self, I wanted him to look more like a father figure.  Yetis can be fathers to ya know.  (hehe)  I had this idea in my head to geek him up a bit.  So I pulled out my Guys Dies from ATS and used all three of the fun dies to transform Bob into this handsome geeky Yeti.

After inking up the stamp I tried to wipe away all the strings of light bulbs that come with him.  There were a few that I missed, but it was still manageable.  I know Yeti's aren't brown, but for this time around he is.  :)  The tricky part of his alteration was adding the geeky glasses.  I really wanted them to pop up but the lines are so skinny it was impossible to pop them up, so what did I do?  I used the mustache to do that.

Die-cut the mustache 3 times and colored them up to blend with Bob's color.  I then layered one on top of the other using pop dots and decided 2 would work instead of all 3.

After adjusting where I wanted the mustache and geeky glasses to lay on Bob's face I glued down the mustache first with glue and then adding a little bit of glue to the bottom of the geeky glasses glued them to the top of the mustache.  Once I was happy where they would end up I trimmed the handles on the glasses to fit his face. Hehe, kinda reminds me a little of Groucho Marx with the handlebar mustache and geeky glasses. ^.^

I chose patterned papers from MME, Six by Six My Favorite Things because there is a particular patterned paper in the pad that I wanted to use.  Here are some close-ups, you'll probably guess which paper I was talking about...

If you guesed the mustache paper you are correct!  hahaha!  I really love all the patterns in this paper pad and wish I had more of it.  Will have to be very selective on when I use them for future projects.  For the finishing touches I added a Recollections wood veneer speech bubble that say's "Thank you so much" and at the bottom I used a sentiment from All About Dad sentiments from AmyR.

Oopsie, a little bit of a smudge, but turned out pretty cool with the white on navy.  Isn't that an awesome sentiment?  Si!  Okie dokes, it's now your turn.  Get to creating for Father's Day but before you link up with us please make sure that you follow our guidelines/rules.  If your project does not qualify your link will be deleted automatically.  Sorry but we have to be firm about our rules.  Good luck!

As Bob and I sign off we'd like to say, Thank you so much for stopping by!!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

Hugs,
Leanne

Y&FH Challenge #10

Good morning!!

Today starts a new challenge over at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  Throughout the year we are going to case a card created by our DT.  Today we are case'ing one of Sandie's beautiful cards!

Created by Sandie Dunne using Yumi with Fan
For all the details please pop on over to the blog.  While you are there be sure to check out Rosie's and Denice's takes on Sandie's card they both did a wonderful job.  Now Sandie is known for her beautiful layouts and floral arrangements.  I've tried in the past and I've come to realize that I do not have a green thumb!  Either in the outdoors or on paper.  hahaha!!  But I'm going to give it a go for my card.  Please be gentle...

Tada!  Not too bad right?  I used Fumi with Umbrella and kept the case as close to Sandie's card as much as possible.  I tried and think it turned out pretty good.  As you can see I just bunched the flowers together, no rhyme or reason.    I don't have the gorgeous Prima flowers that she used, but I do have flowers that worked out really well.

The papers, except for the white cardstock, are all from Hanko Designs including the rusty red colored cardstock base.  The sentiment is from AmyR So Wordy Sentiments and it's stamped on one of the banner tags from C.C. Designs.  The Twinery twine is from ATS and the crochet ribbon was from The Ribbon Carousel.  The butterfly was punched using one of my favorite Martha Stewart punches.

Hope you can come and play with us this time around.  The challenge ends on Friday March 1st so you'll have plenty of time to choose an image and get crafty.  Have a fantastic Sunday and Mahalo for taking time out of your day to stop by.

Hugs,
Leanne

Valentine's Day Tags & Cookies

Happy Valentine's Day!!
I know the day's almost over, but I just had a chance to do a quick post so I'm taking a few minutes to do it.

My friend, Doreen Sanuki, who is also my co-worker and baker extraordinaire, and I decided to tag team for Valentine's Day this year.  She baked some delicious chocolate-chip cookies with red & white sprinkles and I made some cute tags to tie them to the bags.  I used the cute new Asian Meoples and the Love is in the Air Meoples.  You might also see a cute Sweet November Love bug floating around as well.  I trimmed them after coloring them and punched some tags out of paper from MS and Recollections.  I also printed out some pretty Valentine's Day cards that were a freebie from Webster's pages.  We tied red/white or pink/white Doodle Bug twine to give it a nice finish.  Here are some pictures...

These turned out really cute for a last minute Valentine's Day treat.  All items except the paper can be found at All That Scraps.  Next year we might do it again, but this time we'll try to be more proactive and do them earlier.  hehehe..  Hoping your Valentine's Day is wonderful!!

Have a great night and Mahalo for stopping by!!

BABY girl

Good morning!

Stopping in for a short post.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop as well. :)

Hope you all had a terrific weekend.  My weekend was pretty good.  I attended a baby shower for one of my good friends yesterday.  It was a lot of fun.  A lot of different games that I enjoyed and the food was dee-licioso!  I went with a peachy-yellow color for her card and picked the new Swiss Pixie baby girl digi stamp from All That Scrap's January release to use.

As you can see the layout is pretty simple.  I'm glad I chose a different color scheme because this card is nice and bright.  I'm going to enter this for fun in the All That Scraps Anything Goes challenge.

Mahalo for stopping by, have a terrific Monday!

Breaking out the old...

Good morning!

Thanks a lot for popping in today, I appreciate it very much.

So yesterday as I was washing clothes there wasn't really anything on t.v. that I wanted to watch so I decided to watch the first season of Hawaii 5-0.  As I watched the pilot I realized that I had never seen it before.  So glad I did because now everything sort of makes sense.  lol.  Mind you I have already seen most of the First Season, but don't mind watching it again.  I get to see Hawaii, some good lookin' guys and oh yea of course the story lines.  {lol}  All-in-all a good day.

In between watching H50, I also got a chance to make a card.  My very first Valentine themed card of 2013.  I used an oldie from CC Designs.  The funny thing about this image is that I remember stamping it from my Copic certification class when this stamp first debuted, what 2 years ago?  Only recently did I find it along with some other papers from that long ago class.  Well I'm happy to say I finally finished coloring her up and have put her on a card. :)

Here's my finished card featuring the adorable C.C. Design Swiss Pixie Violet with Key.

The papers are from a S.E.I. paper pad I bought at one of the Anaheim Expos.  I was lucky enough to grab it as it was the last one!  I believe that was more than a few years ago too!  I have been waiting to use it for the right occasion.  I also have an older BG dp on here too.
I used a bunch of punched hearts from a Spellbinder die, a couple heart punches and a heart from the C.C. Cutters Key & Lock die set to make the butterfly.  For the antennae I used a paper flower stamin.  I think I used about 10 hearts from the Spellbinder dies, two each from a small & medium punch and one from the C.C. Cutter die.  So that makes 15 to create the butterfly.  Used a Swiss dots embossing folder for the larger pink wings and colored the dots with a white gel pen.  I have some leftover hearts from the SB die so I just might make another one. :)

Next I wanted to share a close up of the banners which spell out L-O-V-E.  The banners are from the C.C. Cutter Mini Banner die set.  The hearts inside the banners are each punched with a smaller heart punch I have.  (Yep got a bunch of punches, ha!)  I punched white cs and then I colored them up using Copics.  The letters were handwritten with a white gel pen.  Last I added white dots to the ends of the banners with Ice White Viva Decor pen.

Here is a close up of CC Designs Swiss Pixie Violet with Key in her pink, brown with a touch of red outfit.  I colored the key red and added Stickles.  I also added some to her headband.  I know I should have grounded her, but I get nervous when I do, I almost always end up not liking it.  Next time. {lol}

You are all in for a shocker!  I actually have the Copic colors I used.  Well that's only cause they are still on the table and not back in the holder.  {haha}  Here ya go:
Skin: E50, E51, E21, BV20, R20
Hair: E55, E57, E59, E79
Dress, hat, socks: R27, R29, RV10, RV11, RV13, E55, E57, E47
Boots: E55, 57
Key: R27, R29, E55, E57

Entering this card in to the All That Scraps challenge just for fun.

Alrighty, enjoy the rest of your weekend and I might have some pictures for you from CHA.

Aloha!!

Happy Halloween Treats

Hello and Happy Halloween!!

Popping in real quick to share some treat tags I made using the cute Meoples Witches & Goblins from ATS.  They made the cutest little tags for some gummi candies I picked up at Disneyland.  I purchased the digital images instead of the rubber stamps because I wanted to be able to shrink them down to small tag sizes.  I made 12 in all.

Please disregard the mess. I didn't have time to beautify the scene as I was already a little late for work. (lol)  Each tag is different from other.  I was able to use my SU punches for some of them and only had to use a couple Spellbinders for the bigger ones.  I handwrote Happy Halloween on all of them.

Here's a little close-up of the treats and tags all in a row.  And below is another picture of the treats at work.  Yes, that one little girl has candy corn hair! hahaha!!

We are having a fun challenge over at the Lollipop Crafts blog and the theme is Halloween Treats Anything but a card.  These tags definitely qualify and they were super easy to make.

Have a safe and fun Halloween and becareful while driving especially tonight.  Mahalo for stopping by!!

Happy Howl-oween!

Hey everyone!!

Hope you all had a great weekend!!  Can you believe it's almost November?  Just a couple more days and we are there!  Wow, I better get going on my Christmas cards else I'll be doing what I did last year... Scrambling to get them done without any sleep!!  EEK!

Well don't want to think about anything now except more Halloween fun.  Over the weekend I went to Joann's and they were having a sale on Tim Holtz Sizzix dies, so I grabbed a few and had to use one of them right away for this Howling Halloween card...

Meet Jo Jo the Werewolf from Sweet November.  I colored him up with Copics.  The rest of the card was all Distress inks and dies. The tree was the Tim Holtz die I bought from Joann's.  After I cut it out I kept the negative of it and used it to make a shadow on the card.  Here is a picture of what it looked like with the moon and clouds.

Pretty spooky yah?  muahhhhahaha....  This next picture is of the actual die cut tree that I sponged with Distress Inks walnut stain and black soot.  I moved it over a bit so it looks like there is a shadow being cast on to the tree from the full moon.

By adding a fun sentiment, a creepy fence (WOJ picket fence), some bats and that big crow (Spellbinders) this turned out to be a pretty spooky yet fun Howl-o-ween card. hehehe...

Couple more days till Halloween, anyone going to dress up? Me?  Hm... I'm not sure yet.  If I do I'll let you knooooooowwwwwww.  (hehehe)

Mahalo for stopping by today.  You all know how much I appreciate your kind words and support.  I hope to be able to do more blog hopping soon.  Take care and have a great day!!

Happy Mother's Day

Hello and to those celebrating today... HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!  Hoping you all have a lovely day spending time with your families. :)

I'm going to make this short because my mom and I are heading out to the movies and lunch.

Here's the card I made her using one of the new Gorjuss girl stamps I grabbed from All That Scraps.  Used papers from an MME 6x6 "Happier" paper pad.

I found this layout on Kim's blog and thought it was pretty awesome because of all the layers.  I added the doily, but otherwise the layout is the same.  I love this Gorjuss image!  She reminds me of me as a little girl coloring with my crayons and making my mom a MD card.  I pulled the colors from the dp, going bright and springy.  If you look real close I added MOM to the bottom of her card.  The sentiment stamp is from a Hero Arts (Majestic circles) set.

Alright, time to head out.  Mahalo for stopping by today.  Wishing all the mothers a lovely day and that also includes those of you who don't have kids, but have pets, your their mamas too.  :)

Having fun with cranes

Hidee Ho!  It's been a couple days since I last posted so thought I'd pop in real quick and share a card I made a while back.  Now normally I would probably share this on Friday, but I have something else scheduled for that day.  This gal has waited long enough I think.  lol...

I made this as one of the sample cards for the last stamp show.  This is Yoko from Sister Stamps.  As you can see I had a bit of fun with her crane.  I consider this a CAS card what do you think?  Used the largest of the reverse wonky rectangle Spellbinder dies for the main image.  Left the die on and stamped Yoko then I used DI brick red and sponged all around her and the original crane.

Can you tell which one it is?  Just follow the string to the end. (woo hoo interactive post - lol)  Colored her with Copics as well as a couple of the cranes.  The other ones I paper pieced using the same washi paper as you see in the background.  Mounted it onto white cs and then all onto black Tsumugi cs.  The border was from an EK Success border bunch that I punched on both sides.  Sometimes that gets tricky, you have to make sure you don't trim too much of the strip of paper and then you have to remember which side to start your punch on.  O yea, I handwrote that sentiment.  Besides skin color I think I only used 5 different Copic markers here.  Just tried to see if I could get away with not using a lot of markers for this one.

Well, that's all for today.  If you have time stop by tomorrow when I will have not 1, but 2 posts.  One for Flutterby Wednesday challenge #199 and a sponsor spotlight post for Lollipop Crafts.  Mahalo for stopping by today!  Hope you are all having a lovely day/evening.

Wishing you a lovely day

Happy Tuesday!

Today I am popping in to share a card I finished on Sunday.  I recently received the new Spellbinder label 25 in the mail and I really wanted to use it.  I thought it would be fun to try to create a scene using some of the new C.C. Designs digis from the March release.  (I created two scenes and will be sharing one today.  When I get the other one colored and put together on either a card or "other" I will share that too.)

As you can see, I combined three digital images (Swiss Pixie Bunny Lucy, the Easter eggs and flowers) into one scene.  One of the great things about digis is that you can make them small or big, multiply and/or combine several in to one scene.  After printing it out I die cut the scene with the biggest die from SB labels 25 and before removing the paper from the die I used TH Distress inks (Tumbled glass & peeled paint) to create the cloud background as well as ground cover for the grass which incidentally gave it a nice framed look.  (I accidentally printed out the scene on regular paper, but was thankful it happened because I was able to use it as the mask for my image.  Now if I use the scene again I have a mask for it.  Score!)  I went over the grass with a couple Copic YGs to give it more depth and color.  Then I colored SP Bunny Lucy and the rest of the scene.  I took a page out of my blogging buddy, Amy's, accessory book and added some tiny pearls where all the tiny bubbles (from the egg image) were.

Once I was done coloring I wasn't sure what I would do next, use the same die and make it into one card?  Or cut up more paper and make an even bigger card?  I remembered there was a sketch challenge going on over at the ATS blog so went to see if I could incorporate it.  Woo Hoo!!  I was pretty stoked that I could.  Now all I needed was to find some dp that would soften up the card as well as choose what color the base would be.  Since I already had the frame in white I told myself to keep it simple.  So the card base would be white and I would matte every panel with white.  Found some fun dp scraps that pulled in colors from the scene that would work.  I used a cute sentiment from the AmyR Be Happy set that turned out to be perfect for the card.  I mimicked the grass and cloud colors on to the square and popped it onto white cs.  When I was done I couldn't stop smiling.  (lol)

Well that's my share for today.  Hope you stop by tomorrow when I share my new FBW challenge post.  We have a really fun sponsor this week and the challenge is a fan favorite.  :)  I know I don't often get to post daily so when I do it must mean that I'm gettin' ahead on things which is nice for a change.  I'm slowly gettin' around to your blogs to catch up on what you've been up to and I really appreciate all the love and comments you leave daily.  Thank you again for being such wonderful friends that I get to share with.  :)  Mahalo for now, "see" you all tomorrow!

Lilo's Fun Friday #21 - A Birthday wish

Happy Aloha Friday!

Thank you everyone for helping us celebrate Kris' birthday yesterday.  I hope you all enjoyed the hop and if you haven't done it yet, please head on over HERE to start at the beginning.

Today for Lilo's Fun Friday I am sharing a card I made for a special friend who is celebrating her birthday today.  Who is it?  Mimi Lee Pang!  She also happens to be my Lollipop DT sistah.  Mimi is a sweetheart, always sending me lovely RAKS for our swaps and leaving me wonderful inspirational messages.  She's also got mad talent when it comes to crafting.
Happy Birthday Mimi!  I hope you have a terrific birthday with lots of cake, ice-cream and presents galore!  Many blessings and good fortune to you!
A few of the Lollipop gals are sharing their own cards on each of their blogs and also on the Lollipop Crafts challenge blog today.  Please pop on over to check out their amazing creations for Mimi and then head on over to each gals blog and leave them some love.  Here are their direct links:

I don't know if many of you know that Mimi is also on the challenge team at All That Scraps.  She does an amazing job with those cute images and I thought it would be fun to create a card using one of the newest C.C. Design Pixies and a background stamp from Sweet November

Here's another wonky reverse card.  I now know why Donna uses this Spellbinder set a lot.  It's really cool to work with.  I used Swiss Pixie Woodland Lucy and the giant mushroom from the SN mushroom stamp set.  (All of these items can be found at All That Scraps.)  I created a fun outdoor scene with Lucy sitting on top of the mushroom.  I used some pretty spring-like colors.  I paper-pieced the mushroom and used Copics to color and shade in some parts.  Lucy is also colored with Copics and I finally think I got the hair to my liking.  Needs more practice (which I don't mind doing) but I'm stoked with how it turned out this time.  Had to make my own paper grass, buying a grass border punch is definitely on my list for my next trip to Michael's.  After that the rest of the card came together pretty quickly.  I hand wrote the sentiment and on the inside of the card I used the Happy Birthday circle stamp from C.C. Designs.

Just in case you can't see it, I stickled parts of the mushroom and the barrett in her hair.

Well I haven't sent it off to Mimi yet, cause I'm getting some other goodies to send with it.  So sorry Mimi girl you'll have to wait for the rest of it.  But at least you can enjoy the card for now.  :)  Alrighty, got lots going on this weekend, crafting for another show and visits from the siblings.  Should be a jam-packed weekend.  Hoping I get to sneak in some sleep somewhere.  lol.  Have a great Friday everyone!

Mahalo for stopping by!

Hugs,
Lilo

FBW #191 Photo inspiration

Morning everyone!!  Please excuse the lateness of this post!!

Another Wednesday is here and man is February going by too fast or what?!!  Well hopefully we can slow it down with a new challenge at Flutterby Wednesday.  We hope ya'll enjoyed last week's A.W.W. (Anything with wings) challenge.   It was really fun to see what ya'll came up with.  This week we are back to normal with our angel, fairy or butterfly incorporated into this week's challenge.  I'm pretty sure it's one that you will like.  Danni asked the DT to use this beautiful photo to inspire our creative juices .

Isn't this gorgeous?!  And sooo PINK!!  hahaha.. I'm sure some of you are in ga-ga heaven that it's so pink, but there are other colors and inspiration here, right?!  lol..   Be sure to check out my fellow awesome teammates inspirations by using the side bar on the left under the Flutterby Team banner, or you can head on over to the Flutterby Wednesday blog and link from there.

Here is what I came up with using a few of the newest C.C. Design images and a new AmyR sentiment that I got via All That Scraps.  These can all be found here in the February 2012 release.  The first of the images is Swiss Pixie Lucy, she's sitting on top of a Swiss Pixie Woodland daisy.  The sentiment is from the Be Happy sentiment set.

Pretty CAS, leaving the images as the main focus of the card.  I used a MS flower border punch to add on the opening.  Also used a MS butterfly punch (with kraft cs (Recollections)).  The dp is part of an old G.C.D. Studio paper pad collection called Rose Colored Glasses.  I used a white pencil to outline the butterfly.  I substituted a sunflower for the original acorn that is in her hair.  Colored this with Copics.

Alrighty, I hope you like what I came up with and it inspires you as much and the photo.  Now it's your turn to create.  Please use the photo inspiration above, plus an angel, fairy or butterfly on your card for this week's challenge and link up with us here.   Lookin' foward to your projects this week.  Have fun with it!!

Mahalo for stopping by!!  Enjoy the rest of your week!

Before I forget, please use the Panda Express coupon located on the top left of my side bar today for a free serving of our newest shrimp dish, Peppercorn Shrimp.  It's pretty good and a wok smart item.
Hugs,
Leanne
