Y&FH December Challenge Reminder

Good morning everyone!

Hehehe, seriously I have no idea how the picture is doing that, but I love it!!  I really wish I had a room like this in my house.  hehehe.  For my project I created a calendar which I just might hang up at work.  My inspiration came from one of the coolest cards created by my cool crafty friend and former DT gal, Sandie Dunne, featuring our Back 2 School kids.  Mine isn't as fabulous as hers, but I like how it turned out just the same... Oh and I embraced some white space too, well I tried.. (haha)

After I stamped the images and colored them I free-handed the 2014 behind them.  The calendar pieces are from Island Scrapbooking which I picked up while on vacation in August.  So happy they were able to fit on to the 12 x 8 1/8 piece of beautiful DCWV patterned cardstock.  Yes the calendar is that big!  I used my favorite EK corner punch and added them to the image.  Kept it CAS which is nice for a change.  Decided that the white space looked just right for this piece.

Now that I look at this, they look almost like an ad for Guess or A&F.  (lol)  Hey I did say ALMOST! (LOL)  I hope more of you will come and play in our challenge, you have until Friday to link up here.  Well thanks so much for stopping by today.  Have a fabulous Sunday!

Y&FH CH #27 - Color Challenge (Reminder)

Hello!!

Today I am happy to be participating again with Team Fumi as we share our inspirations for our current challenge at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  Here's a reminder:

CHALLENGE #27 - COLOR COMBO

Purple, green, orange & black

Create a project using the above colors. 

So a few days ago I shared a card I made using those colors but did not make a Halloween themed project.  Instead I made a holiday themed card.  (For more details click HERE.)  For today I do have something Halloween themed, a big tag featuring Fumi Panda.

Trick or Treat with Fumi Panda

Ta-da! (hahaha)  I had so much fun with this one.  I used some old K&Company Halloween themed paper as well as some new DCWV papers.  The antique doily is a QuicKutz die from Lifestyle Crafts.  OMG I had to shim that puppy a few times in order for all the pieces to pop out!!  But it was worth it, it's a really pretty die.  The flowers are Sizzix by Tim Holtz and I've been wanting to use it for the longest time!  Kept it simple by using some scrap Halloween papers.  You can't tell but that green flower has embossed skulls on them.  (hahaha)  Kept the sentiment simple by using a CC Designs AmyR stamp.  Stamped it with Distress embossing ink and used white embossing powder to make it pop.  I added a black velvet ribbon on top and lastly my colored Fumi Panda image.  Oh and I distress inked all the way around the tag and some of the flowers with Vintage Photo Distress ink.

CHRISTMAS IN SEPTEMBER?

MAKE A CHRISTMAS TAG

Stop by the Y&FH blog today to see the beautiful projects from Team Fumi and last week's beautiful projects created by Team Yumi.  You have until Friday at noon to link up your Christmas tag and we're excited to see it.  This also gives you a chance to start on some Christmas projects.  Our challenge is just a tag, and we all know that tags can make the bag or gift extra special.  I for one was happy to start on my Christmas tags, especially because I am the worst procrastinator!!  Who else is a procrastinator?  Come on I know I'm not the only one!  hahaha!  Well you think about and let me know I'd really dislike being the only one up at 2am making tags or Christmas cards days before the big event.  (haha)

Here's my tag featuring an image that I have not seen anyone use yet... Hope you like... Say "hello" to Winter Fumi.  ^.^ 

Winter Fumi Christmas tag

I tried a new photo program and the white splotches are part of the border.  Doesn't it look like someone threw snow?  (lol)  Next time I won't blur out the picture so much, you can't see any of the details at the bottom.  Now in my opinion this little gal doesn't get a lot of ink time so I thought she deserved some love and here she is.  After coloring her up with Copics, I decided to go super CAS with the tag and also a bit non-traditional.  I used a Merry Christmas embossing folder on the craft cardstock and adhered it to a plain white cardstock.  Next I used a corner punch to make it look more like a tag.  Added some silver braided ribbon to the top of the craft cardstock to hide the border.  Next up I added some silver holly and instead of adding berries I chose that pretty Prima flower.  I added the same silver braided ribbon to the bottom of the tag and another holly leaf under her left foot.  To round it out I added three blue gems on the bottom left corner.

Well that's all I have for today.  It's good to be back at the coloring and creating even if it's for something as small as a tag.  I can't wait to make something else.  For now I hope you'll join us for this challenge.  We've got a lot of new rules that make it a lot easier for you to join.  To see the new updates head to the Yumi & Fumi Handmade page and view the CHALLENGE INFO tab.
