Y&FH December Challenge Reminder

Good morning everyone!

Hehehe, seriously I have no idea how the picture is doing that, but I love it!!  I really wish I had a room like this in my house.  hehehe.  For my project I created a calendar which I just might hang up at work.  My inspiration came from one of the coolest cards created by my cool crafty friend and former DT gal, Sandie Dunne, featuring our Back 2 School kids.  Mine isn't as fabulous as hers, but I like how it turned out just the same... Oh and I embraced some white space too, well I tried.. (haha)

After I stamped the images and colored them I free-handed the 2014 behind them.  The calendar pieces are from Island Scrapbooking which I picked up while on vacation in August.  So happy they were able to fit on to the 12 x 8 1/8 piece of beautiful DCWV patterned cardstock.  Yes the calendar is that big!  I used my favorite EK corner punch and added them to the image.  Kept it CAS which is nice for a change.  Decided that the white space looked just right for this piece.

Now that I look at this, they look almost like an ad for Guess or A&F.  (lol)  Hey I did say ALMOST! (LOL)  I hope more of you will come and play in our challenge, you have until Friday to link up here.  Well thanks so much for stopping by today.  Have a fabulous Sunday!

Y&FH Challenge #15 reminder

Hello!

Today I have a card to share that coincides with the current challenge at Yumi & Fumi Handmade, Shaped card for Mother's Day. Stop by Sandie's blog to see her gorgeous card and if you haven't already done so link your shaped cards for Mother's day HERE.  You have until tomorrow at noon, pst to enter.  The prize is a $15 gift certificate to the Y&FH online store!   For this challenge we'd like you to create something other than the normal A2 card.  There are so many fun shaped die cuts out there.  Shoots you could use your Cricut, or other die cutting machine or go total old school and trace something and freehand cut it out!  The possibilities are endless.  Try something new and fun who knows you might become addicted.  lol!  

My scalloped circle card features the cute Fumi with Messenger bag from Yumi & Fumi Handmade. 

The bright colors were chosen by that patterned paper by BG.  I believe I only have a small amount of it left.  Really love that pattern, doesn't need anything more. lol.. Broke it up with that black circular frame and adhered the rest to a mustard yellow, polka dot embossed cardstock from Bazzil.  The sentiment is my current favorite from AmyR.  I colored Fumi with Copics and have never tried that color combo, but I actually like it.  Here's what the inside of the card looks like...

Yep, it's a scalloped circle easel card!  It's funny, when I tried to remember how to make one of these my memory drew a blank!  Ai-ya!  So I jumped over to SCS and there was a tutorial by the always resourceful Beate.  As soon as I saw the first couple of steps everything started coming back to me. lol.  I decided to go super simple with the bottom part as well.  Trimmed a strip of black cardstock and embossed it with a Swiss dot folder.  The Hero Arts sentiment was stamped on the same patterned paper and die cut with a SU punch.  I also punched out a black circle with another SU punch and glued the sentiment to it.  It's popped up on the black strip to serve as a stopper.

Yippie!!

Hello!

Poppin' in a little bit late to remind everyone that you only have a day left to play in the current challenge at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  So far we have some really lovely entries and everyone has done such a wonderful job caseing Sandie's original card.   If you stop by the Y&FH blog you'll see that Sandie is sharing her own case'd card today.  She did a fabulous job too.  I'm sharing my CAS card today as well.  I'm actually liking this card.  Reminds me that Spring is almost here.

The bright paper is from American Crafts which I found at Target!!  Score!!  The rest of the card came together pretty quickly.

DTC Sketch Challenge

Hey everyone!!

Are any of you an NCIS fan?  I love the show and am always watching the reruns on tv.  I'd rather watch them more then regular tv.  {hehe}  I just had to share that last night's episode was pretty unexpected but really good.  I still have chills from it!!  If you're a fan you'll know what I'm talking about.  Can't wait to see next weeks although I don't think it will top last night.

Getting back into non-Christmas card mode has been fun.  For my card today  I used the January photo inspiration over at Y&FH to pick the colors I wanted to use.  Click here to check out the details of the new month long challenge going on over at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.   We hope you join us. 

I colored up Fumi with Messenger bag for fun and used up some scraps of one of my favorite BG papers.

If I find more of this BG dp I'm getting it!  It's so cute!!  Besides pulling the same colors from the inspiration photo,  I mimicked the slats in the crib's back drop by scoring a piece of white cs every half inch.  Pulled the black & white polka dot paper from one of the banners and added the laser cut sentiment to the bottom.

This layout is actually a sketch from Designed to Color's current challenge.  I think I will enter this card there and also there is an open challenge at FBW.  Just make sure to use a fairy, angel or butterfly.

Y&FH Challenge #7 - Ribbons or Lace

Morning Everyone!!

Hoping you're all having a great weekend.  Today we have a new challenge going up on the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog and this time it's for 3 weeks!!   We realize that the holidays are approaching really soon so we hope that you will have time to come over and play.  Again it's another easy challenge Rosie has for us.  Use either ribbon or lace on your project.  For more details and inspiration from the team, head on over to our blog.

This is Fumi with Messenger Bag and yes she has purple hair!  :)  I love coloring hair with different colors.  She reminds me of an anime character which I love.  This is the closest I've come to shabby chic, still working on it, but I have to say this one turned out pretty cute.  I love this image, she's cute and just a little bit sassy.  I used my new Tim Holtz Sizzix die to punch out those felt flowers in the lower left corner and added a lavendar rose on top.  To balance I added two more roses to the opposite corner.  The ribbon has a bit of lace and a strip of velvet down the center.  It's from May Arts, I didn't realize I had it until I started looking for lacey ribbon to use.  What a find!  The rest of the card came together pretty quickly.  The dp is from Pink Paislee.  Everything is matted with black cs and the altered sentiment is by AmyR.
