Holiday Cheer

Morning!

Today's card could be considered an alternate version to the current challenge over at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  We want you to use the following colors in your project:

CH #27 - Color combo:
Orange, Purple, Green & Black

Now many of you might interpret that to mean Halloween colors and you could be correct, but how about something non-Halloween?  Stop by the Y&FH blog post and see some of the Halloween and non-Halloween projects created by our very talented Team Yumi.  I was inspired to try out the non-Halloween version and came up with this card featuring Yeti Fumi without her Christmas lights...

Holiday Cheer with Yeti Fumi

I used two old Bo Bunny sheets of Christmas patterned paper for my project and matted them all to black Neenah cardstock.  I know there is a lot of blue visible, but that was the only paper I had that also included purple, green and black on it.  The touches of orange are Fumi's hair, the rose, the four marble half circles and the tulle ribbon.  Had fun adding a different non-traditional Christmas color to my card to fit the challenge theme.  The sentiment are dies from Paper Smooches which I love!  Used a Noor set of flower dies to create the giant one on the right side of the card and then layered some other flowers from Petaloo.  Here's a close up...

Floral arrangement includes Noor dies, Recollection rose and Petaloo flowers

Trying my hand at some floral arrangements, and I think I did ok... Needs more practice, but I'm satisfied with the end result. :)  I hope I was able to give you another idea on how to use those colors for our current challenge in case you wanted to do something other than Halloween.  Again for more inspiration head on over to the Y&FH blog post HERE and once you've finished creating your project link up with us.  Did you hear our news yet?  You can now add your Yumi & Fumi Handmade projects to our company gallery over at Split Coast Stampers!  Yes, we've finally gotten our act together and now have a company gallery there.  Our DT have been busy uploading their projects and we hope you will too.  Use keyword: yumifumi (no spaces) when uploading.

Freckle-faced Yeti Fumi

Thanks for stopping by today.  It was fun sharing this card featuring non-traditional Christmas colors and the adorable Yeti Fumi.  Have a wonderful day!!

Hugs,
Leanne

She's too cute to spook

Hey everyone!

It's only a couple of days before Halloween, are any of you dressing up?  I guess I'm what you call a non-dresser for Halloween, but I do like the event.  Not sure if we're going to get the same 10-15 people coming to trick or treat at our house so just in case I'm getting a few bags of my favorite candy because if none come at least I'll enjoy eating the leftovers.  hahaha!

Today I have a Halloween card, but did not use a traditional Halloween image.  This little girl is another one of the cuties from the Three Little Autumn Girls set at All Dressed Up that has been sitting on my desk for a while.  Thought it would be fun to get her dressed up in Halloween colors (black & orange) with some grays and hints of purple, as in purple hair!  :)

Autumn Girl - All Dressed Up

I used a new Sizzix die for the intricate black background.  It was a bit difficult to work with, but the end result was a worth it.  I'll have to figure out a better way to remove it from the die next time.  I hadn't done clouds in a while and thought gray to black looked cool here.  I used a Studio G spider web to add a bit more spookiness but didn't add the spider cause it just wasn't cute enough. (hahaha)  See the flower?

There's the spiders!  I used the poinsettia die from Paper Smooches and some new Recollections Halloween paper to create the spooky spider flower and added a nice big orange gem to the center.  The sentiment(s) is from CC Designs, AmyR Ghostly Greetings sentiment set and I used another Sizzix die to cut it out.  I'm going to join in the All Dressed Up Halloween challenge with this card.  Wish me luck!  (haha)

I have one more Halloween post coming up on Thursday so hope you'll stop by again.  In the meantime, stop by the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog for the newest challenge.  We've got a color challenge (orange, black, green, purple) going on and if you use those colors why not link up?  Go HERE to see all the details.

As you know the team from Yumi & Fumi Handmade is spotlighting each of the Kigurumi images on their blogs.  I get to spotlight one of my favorites, Fumi Panda and I used Perfect Layers ruler #1 to mat all of my papers.
Fumi Panda - Kigurumi Series Y&FH

Here's what I came up with, hope you like...
Boo with Fumi Panda

Since Halloween is just around the corner I decided to make this Halloween themed card with Fumi dressing up as a Panda Munster.  hahaha!  Do any of you remember the tv show The Munsters?  It was mostly a black & white program, but they did have a couple colored movies and I took my inspiration of color from that.  It was a lot of fun to color her up in shades of what I like to call Munster green, with red-orange eyes and purple hair.  The only thing normal here is the color of her outfit.
After coloring and distressing my image I grabbed my Perfect Layers ruler #1 and an Exacto knife to do the following cuts all with the intention of layering up my papers. The cool thing is all of these measurements are on 1 ruler!  Pretty convenient and easy!:
  1. Matted my colored image on to some lime green cardstock and using the 1/8" mark as my guide to cut all four sides.
  2. Matted that to some fun orange spider paper and used the lime green cardstock as my guide to cut using the 5/8" mark.
  3. The next layer is a dark gray with black glitter designs which is cut at the 3/8" mark.
  4. The last mat is the lime green polka dot paper which is cut using the 1/4" mark and I used the dark gray patterned paper as my guide.
To finish off my card I used a few products from my plethora of craft supplies, and some go to companies (C.C. Designs and Stampin' Up).
BOO

Now it's time to hop on over to the amazingly talented Kim O'Connell's blog, but before you get hoppin' don't forget to leave a comment.  Mahalo for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the hop!

Hugs,
Leanne

Y&FH Challenge reminder - Anything Goes Challenge #26

Morning!

Uh oh!  Looks like I forgot to schedule this!!  Sorry about that!

Today Team Fumi is sharing their Anything Goes inspirations for your viewing pleasure.  Head on over to the Y&FH blog to see all of the beautiful creations.  I'm so excited to see all of the projects being added to our challenge, unfortunately I did see several of you link up more than once and it's too bad those entries will have to be deleted from the competition.  It's really mind-boggling to me that some people don't read the rules, but you know I've actually come to expect it.  Sad but true, unfortunately.  I do want to say "Thanks" to the ones who actually follow our rules, we greatly appreciate it and know that you are not only in it to share your creation but that you respect what we share as well, so Thank you!!

Now on to my project which I have to tell you I did a little cheating.  No it's not that bad, I actually made this at the Ontario (California) Rubber Scrapbooking Expo as a make n' take.  Now I wish I had taken a photo of it before I stamped my image to "complete" the frame.

Acrylic frame featuring Fumi with Bear Backpack

So all you have to do is picture the left side without an image and that is what I made.  I couldn't leave it blank, it did not look finished to me, now it does.  This was our make n' take that Renate' and I did at the Clear Scraps booth.  Isn't it gorgeous?!  I don't remember ever making something like this!!   It was really fun and easy to make and I learned a lot about new products and how to make acrylic look like this!  I know if I tried to do it again it would take me longer than the 20 minutes it took at the show.  I seriously need to go to their blog/website to watch some videos.  We got to use some new products that I probably would never have bought, but ended up buying and can't wait to use.  It's all Viva decor and Adirondack inks and stuff and lots of sparkling stuff.  I know a few ladies that would love some of these products if they don't already.  I also purchased some acrylic and chipboard letters to make a photo album.  We'll see how that works out.  I'm the queen of buying stuff and never using it, but for this project I'm thinking this might be a new beginning.  Check back closer to Christmas as that's when I hope to have it finished. :)  How about a couple more pictures?...  Ok you twisted my arm... hahaha...

Fumi with Bear Backpack with a vintage feel

I wish you could see how beautiful and shiney this frame is.  We used alcohol inks, staz-on ink, inka gold metallic rub and a few other things I can't remember and to glue it all together we used 3-in-1 craft glue.

You're special with bird

This is the other side.  The bird is another acrylic piece and the bottom part is made of cork paper.  We also used a dark brown pearl pen to add some nice dimension to the project.  I even added a small dot to give the bird an eye.  :)  This is one shabby chic project that I loved making!  Next up I'm going to try and tackle the word album.  Wish me luck!  :)

Vintage Fumi with Bear Backpack

Speaking of luck, we hope to see more of you link your Anything Goes projects to the current challenge where you have a chance at winning or being in our Top 3.  Remember the prize is a $10 gift certificate to our online store and the Top 3 will receive a 10% discount as well.  Good luck!
Mahalo for stopping by.  Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Happy Anniversary Island Scrapbooking and some news

Good afternoon everyone!

I'm popping in to wish Island Scrapbooking in Hilo, Hawaii a Happy 10th Anniversary and to happily announce that they are now carrying our Yumi & Fumi Handmade stamp line!  We are very excited and blessed about that!!

If you're in the area, be sure to stop by, sounds like they are going to have a big, fun party as only a 10th anniversary should be!!  Wish I could be there especially for all the prizes, make n' takes and did I mention prizes?!! :'(

Island Scrapbooking - BTW, that's my brother and Mom in the picture.

While I was visiting family I stopped at this cute little shop several times when I was in town.  Picked up some fun craft goodies and spent some time chatting with the owner Michele.  She is a super sweet lady and fits quite nicely in to that little shop.  I miss walking in to those kinds of shops where the owner is the one manning the register or asking if you need help.  I could not get enough of looking at all the Sister Stamps projects, they are truly beautiful and stunning in person!!  Sorry no pictures, I was crunched for time each time I was in the store.  But you can see one of the zodiac calendars on the wall over my left shoulder in the picture below.

Michele, owner of Island Scrapbooking, LLC and me

On one of my "happened to be in the neighborhood" visits I was surprised when she asked if I had a stamp line, I think one of her DT mentioned it or it might have been Jenny, it was certainly not me.  I was trying to be incognito! (hehe)  When she mentioned that her 10th anniversary was coming up in October I was excited for her.  Wow, 10 years and still going strong.  That's awesome!  We got to chatting and next thing you know we were talking about a possibility of adding our stamp line in her store during the anniversary!!  Holy cow!  What a truly blessed event for us.  So now if you live in the Hilo, HI area or anywhere on the Big Island you can now purchase some of our Yumi & Fumi stamps at Island Scrapbooking.  :)

I was super excited to pack all of the stamps she ordered and added some samples.  I also wanted to send her a little thank you card using a combination of a Y&FH image and some of her products...

Happy Anniversary - Summer Fumi

Here is the card I sent her featuring Summer Fumi and on her t-shirt the smallest honu from our Tiki-Surf set.  I combined that beautiful background paper, the Happy Anniversary laser cut phrase and laser cut flower in her hair, all products from Island Scrapbooking to create this super CAS card. Don't our stamps go wonderfully with the products in her store?  :)   I almost kept this card, but know that it is going to a good home. :)  If you happen to be in the area please stop by, say hi and take some pictures.  Post them and then leave me a comment so I can come see!!  ^.^

Sending happy wishes and congratulations to Michele on a really amazing milestone.  Hau`oli la Ho'omana'o!  Cheers to many more!!

Mahalo for stopping by today, have a lovely crafty day and don't forget you have until Friday to link up to our Anything Goes challenge at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.

KBD - Aloha Friday Mid-Week Inspiration CH #10 - Halloween

Happy Aloha Friday everyone!

Hope you all had a good week and are ready for a good weekend.  Today the Bees and I are sharing our mid-week inspirations for our current challenge at Kitty Bee Designs:

ALOHA FRIDAY CHALLENGE #10
HALLOWEEN

We're excited to see all the cool and fun projects you've all added to the challenge.  Keep em coming.  If you're stuck or haven't found any inspiration to get your crafty juices flowing then you'll definitely have to stop by the Kitty Bee blog today!  My teammates are bringing some serious cuteness in to play and you'll definitely be inspired!!  So for my mid-week inspiration I did another treat holder but used this adorable ghostly looking bat.

Kitty Bee ghost bat - Halloween treat holder

My friend and crafty teammate from Y&FH, Kathy Dinh shared this super fun and easy treat holder on the Y&FH blog a while ago.  I really wanted to try it and this was the perfect opportunity.  If you're looking for something fun and easy to make for some Halloween treats stop by and check out her easy tutorial.  Instead of using a solid colored cardstock for the base I went with a fun double sided Halloween patterned paper from K&Company.   The rest of it came together fairly quick.  Now remember I mentioned last week about a LOL image?  Well take a look...

A googly eyed Ghost Bat

Was I right?!  hahaha!  I think the googly eyes and his cute smile make him huggably sweet!  As you can see I am really enjoying this app.  Okies dokes my friends, thanks so much for stopping by.  Hope you'll be able to make some time to play in our Halloween challenge which ends next week.  Looking forward to seeing your projects.  Have a great weekend and Happy Aloha Friday!!

Hugs,
Leanne

Kitty Bee Designs Aloha Friday CH #10 - Halloween

Happy Aloha Friday everyone!

It's time for a brand new challenge over at the Kitty Bee Designs blog.  Today Team Bees are sharing some cute and fun projects with our new challenge theme:

KITTY BEE DESIGNS ALOHA FRIDAY
CHALLENGE #10 - HALLOWEEN

Head on over to the blog to see the rules and challenge details and then we hope you'll link up to win an awesome prize from Kitty Bee Design.  Looking forward to seeing some scary, cute and fun Halloween projects.  For my project I created an easy treat holder.

Pumpkin Cow treat holder

I add some fun with my new camera app again, and thought this looked grungy just in time for some Halloween fun.  I used the adorable Pumpkin Cow, a cellophane Halloween treat bag, ribbon and for the treat a couple Big Island Candies 1/2 dipped chocolate shortbread cookies.

Supplies for Pumpkin Cow treat holder
Want to know how easy this was to make?

Well it took me longer to color up Pumpkin Cow than anything else.  Once I finished coloring and fussy cutting my image I took the candy corn cellophane bag and trimmed the bottom off.  Next I tied off one side using a piece of ribbon to and pulled the ends of the bag apart.  The cool thing about that bag is that it's very flexible but holds when you manipulate it.  I added the cookies (which are my favorite and super ono-licious, but of course you can use any treat you want) then tied off the other end with the same ribbon and fluffed it out.  As my last step I added 2 clear adhesive dots to the back of Pumpkin Cow and gently adhered him to the front of the treat bag, did not want to crush the cookies inside!  (haha)

Having fun with new camera app

Hehe, I had some fun with my new camera app again, doesn't the cow look like a round ball?  hahaha!  Wait until you see my mid-inspiration image.  It's sooo darn cute and will make you laugh out loud.  Hope you'll find some time to play in our bi-weekly challenge.  Remember to check the rules before linking up, we'd really hate to have to remove it if you didn't.  Mahalo for stopping by today!  Have a great Aloha Friday!!

Leanne

A Sweet Little Autumn Girl

Hello again...

Thanks for the lovely comments from yesterday.  I guess I'm slowly getting my mojo back from vacation.  (hahaha)  Today I'm sharing another card using another All Dressed Up image and I had a bit of fun with the colors, papers and layout.  This little girl is from the Three Little Autumn Girls set and I think she is sweet and of course I LOVE her hair!! @^.^@

A sweet little Autumn girl

I had fun coloring this up with some fun fall colors.  I used the current Deconstructed Sketch 121, but changed it up a bit.  Instead of the square in the center I used a doily, but I think the basic concept is still there.  So glad that there is a site to go to where you can find a layout when you're just "stuck".  I didn't add a sentiment this time, thinking it could be used for anything at this point, but there is a nice spot if I wanted to add one. This is definitely another outside of the box for me as I tend to have an issue with mismatched papers, but I'm cool with this one, it actually turned out nice.  Quite possibly one of my favorites to date.  :)

One of the Three Little Autumn Girls

Yay, another card to add to my collection.  I think I'll link this to the current All Dressed Up challenge, you can add up to 3 projects, so this will be my second.  Hey why not right?  I think I'll also link up to the DS121 and hope Jen is ok with my little switch out and maybe a couple others.  Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to come and play along with us at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  You've got until Friday to link up.  For more details click HERE.

Have a lovely day!

Hello

Afternoon everyone.

Today I have a fun card to share.  I found this cute new stamp line called All Dressed Up on Facebook and grabbed a few of their adorable images.  The images are fun to color and they seem perfect for the upcoming season.  They are having their very first challenge and I thought I would play along.  If you don't have any of their images they do have some freebies you can play with.

Hello

This is one of the Three Little Party Girls,  My card is fairly CAS.  I have been in a single-minded color scheme lately, (pink or peach, green and white) took the colors from the current Y&FH inspiration photo challenge for this color palette.  The layout was not something I planned but it worked out in the end.  It's something a lot different than the norm but I'm ok with that.  Always fun to try something out of your comfort zone right?

All Dressed Up

Well it was nice to share something new with you and add another card to my collection.  Mahalo for stopping by!  Hope you're having a wonderful day!

Hugs,
Leanne

Card Swap #2

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for stopping by again.  Today I'm sharing the other two cards I sent to Zoe for our crafty swap.  I decided to go with an Asian theme for these and I hope Zoe likes them.

First up is the card I made featuring Yumi with Fan...

Surprise! (#2)

I'm so happy with how this turned out, especially her coloring.  The contrast with her coloring and the beautiful dark blue washi paper is amazing. I actually started to make this card a while ago, but never got the chance to finish it.  No time like the present right?!  (hehe)  The sentiment is from Island Scrapbooking and instead of coloring it I left it white.  If Zoe likes she can color it or leave it plain, it still looks terrific.  Here is what the back looks like...

Happy Birthday, Enjoy!

As you might have guessed this is not an ordinary card, it can be used as a gift card holder or if Zoe chooses to she can add a tag or note inside the pocket.  Another sentiment from Island Scrapbooking and a punched sakura flower with a handwritten sentiment round this one out.  How about a close up of Yumi?...

Yumi with Fan

I had a lot of fun with her reddish-orange hair.  Especially love the contrasted a lot with the darker colors around her.  Next up is the last card I made for the swap, another ACAS (Asian Clean and Simple) card and this time I used Fumi with Gift.  What better image to use but her for a birthday card right?!

Happy Birthday - Fumi with Gift

I used two different sheets of washi paper for this one, a Spellbinder die and some Island Scrapbooking accessories (sentiment and flowers).  I used Copics and a white gel pen to color her outfit including the gift she is holding.  For more of a girly touch I added the pearl swirly gems.  That is another element I am learning to love.  Here is a close-up of Fumi with her big baby blues...

Fumi with Gift
I also included this card because, well she lives in Australia and I thought this would be a fun card to share with her.  And there you have it!   I truly had a great time and I hope that they start it up again.  Thanks again to Sandie for organizing it and to Zoe for being a great swap partner!!

Thanks for stopping by!  TTFN!!

Card Swap #1

Well hello everyone!

Did I mention that I joined a crafty swap with some ladies on FB?  Well if I didn't, I did; join a swap that is. (hahaha!)  When the call went out I decided to sign up.  Why not?  It would be fun to swap with some other crafty ladies and in the process meet and make some new friends.  After hearing that my swap partner received the package I can now share what I sent to her.  Yay!

I was partnered up with the fabulous Zoe McGrath, owner of Make It Crafty.  If you don't know about her or her awesome store click HERE to check them both out.  I was nervous when I found out I was partnered up with Zoe, but she was so sweet and said I shouldn't be!  Then I thought about it and said, she's right! (haha)  Zoe and I decided to swap birthday cards.  Everyone needs birthday cards right?  I made three cards and today I'd like to share one of the cards.

Before I forget!!  Zoe just celebrated a birthday, so Happy Birthday Zoe!! I hope you had a wonderful day!!  xoxo

This card features Melody from Make It Crafty.  She's one of my favorite images!!  I love how she exudes happiness, perfect for a birthday card right?!

Surprise with Melody

I case'd this layout based on my beautiful birthday card from Kim Yu.  I wanted to keep the colors bright and happy so I chose paper from Colorbox and matted each piece with black cardstock.  There is a lot of sparkle going on in this card, too bad you can't tell by my photo.  Ah well... You'll just have to take my word for it. (hehe)  I'm not sure if you can see it, but I colored her outfit to look like the pink is under a sheer black dress.  I loved the effect when I was finished coloring.  I even like her hair.  I hope I did her justice.  The sentiment is from Island Scrapbooking.  I used some laser cut chipboard corners, another Make It Crafty product that has sadly been discontinued, instead of metal ones.  I think they look pretty terrific.  The rest of the card just fell in to place and I adore how it turned out.   Here is a close up of Melody...

Melody from Make It Crafty

I think she is totally groovy don't you?   I am so glad I decided to join the swap and that my first partner was Zoe.  She taught me to just go for it and I'll always remember not to be afraid to try and that you should never second guess yourself.  Thanks for that lesson Zoe!  xoxo

Well that's all for now.  Mahalo for stopping by!  Wishing you all a blessed day!

Hugs,

Happy Birthday Kathy!!

Hello!

We're having a special birthday celebration over at the Yumi & Fumi blog for Kathy from Team Fumi!!  It's her birthday today and we decided to celebrate her turning another year "younger" with Kathy's very own birthday blog post.  Stop by the Y&FH blog to see all the pretty cards and projects created for Kathy's special day.

Kathy was the one that got me to go to stamp camp and she's also someone that I find tons of inspiration from.  She's super nice, a talented crafter and is fun to be around.  We're always laughing about something. For her card I chose to use the current photo inspiration for Challenge # 25 at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  If you haven't been by yet, just click on the link below.  Here is a picture of the photo and if you didn't know... It's anything goes.

Photo inspiration - CH #25

With summer now coming to an end and the chill of fall creeping in we wanted to end September with pretty bright colors before heading in to those lovely Fall ones. I'm lucky that one of Kathy's favorite colors is green!  Yay!! So my project ties in well for both.  Sweet!!  Here's my card featuring Yumi with Bookbag

Happy Birthday with Yumi Bookbag

I had a lot of fun making this one.  I masked Yumi first and taking a lantern rubber stamp I did a grouping of them right behind her.  The flowers are actually ribbon that I colored using a couple of Copics.  I added a touch of bling with the rhinestones and the confetti.  I mounted/layered up some white cardstock with a piece of green cardstock and mounted it all on to the peach card.   The sentiment is from Island Scrapbooking which I colored to match the rest of the card.

Kathy, Happy Birthday!!  I want you to know how much I appreciate our friendship and how much I cherish you.  May your birthday be blessed and fun and I hope all your wishes come true.  Love ya girl!!

Now don't forget to stop by Kathy's blog to wish her a Happy Birthday.  Thanks a lot for stopping by, have a great day!!

Hugs,
Leanne
