Throwback Friday with a twist

Happy Friday Friends!

I hope you all have had a fabulous week.  It's time for another Farm Fresh Friday Challenge with us over at the Farm Fresh Challenge blog.  Today's theme is a throwback with a 'Fancy Folds' theme!  Easel, tri-fold, Pop-up, gatefold, we don't care, just show us your older TGF stamps on a "Fancy Fold" card!

The throwback challenge requires you to break out your "old" TGF sets (which let's face it...aren't that old, lol).  Go to the FFC blog for the "Exclusion List" which has the last several months worth of TGF releases on it.  The deal is that you can use anything on your project BUT those stamps.  So dust off your very first TGF purchases and make them shine again.  While you are over there checking out the Exclusion list you can also see what amazing cards/projects the design team created.  Enjoy!

For my fancy fold I chose to do a box card with Hula Anya.  I was searching on SCS and found this tutorial by Beate Johns.  I wish I had the same Scor-Pal that Beate was using.  Mine does not have all the same score lines as hers so I had to fiddle and guess where the lines to score lay.  All in all it's off a little bit, but still worked.  Here is what the card looks like when closed.  The closure is a band with my colored image of Hula Anya and some raffia attached.

To open the card you have to carefully slide the band off.  Here is what the card looks like opened.  The cool thing about this is that you can stick a small card or mutliple cards inside or maybe even something small like ribbon or beads.  For now, I only have a card inside.

Do you recognize the flowers?  Yes, they are part of Hula Anya's headband, what I did was after inking the flowers I wiped away the stamens then stamped it on white cs.  After I colored them I hand wrote ALOHA in the middle with white ink and cut them out.  I used some left over dp and navy cs for this.  Using a sponge, leaf cutout, and peeled paint distress ink, I distressed the white cs.  Believe it or not, I practically used the whole 12x12 dp, which means no scraps for this paper.  I might have enough of the dp to make two more of these cards.  That will make a really nice gift.  Here is what all the card pieces look like, it's very deceiving.

I have a feeling once I get the correct measurements on my Scor-pal, I will be making more of these.  It was not only easy to make but what a fun gift to give someone.

I'd also like to say a huge Welcome to our Farm Fresh Face, Emily Martina aka Beanscrapsandsheep.  I have come to admire her creations since she's participated in most of the challenges.  Please say a huge Hello and Welcome to her at her blog HERE, you will become a fan.

We hope you all get a chance to play along.  We would love to see what you can make using your oldies but goodies using a fancy fold.  Now remember there is a list posted on the FFC blog of the images you CANNOT use.  So pop on over there for the details.

The FFF challenges runs until Thursday, entries are due by 12 PM CST.
The winner will receive a free single TGF stamp of choice!
Please upload your challenge cards to TGF Galleria> Farm Fresh Challenges 2011> Throwbacks> Throwback #3

ALOHA!!

Mahalo for stopping by, hope you get a chance to play along with us.  We love to see what you create with each challenge and boy do you rock it out!

Hugs,
Lilo
