Lilo's Fun Friday #25 - A Special Blog Hop...

Happy Aloha Friday everyone!!
Today for Lilo's Fun Friday #25, I get to hop along as a guest designer with the Friday Inspiration team from La-La Land Crafts!!  I am so lucky & excited to be amongst another terrific group helping to showcase the new stamps released on Monday.  I'll post a list of all the DT blogs for today at the end so make sure you leave everyone some love, they all deserve it.  You are really going to enjoy this hop. Thanks for all your lovely comments from my Monday post.  I appreciate all the love I received.  Now don't forget to head on over to the LLLC blog for all the details on how to win some stamps and then head on over to the LLLC store to purchase your images if you can't wait.

If you came here from Arlene's blog then you are on the right track, if you just popped in just because and you want a chance to win some LLLC new release images then head on back to the beginning at the LLLC blog

So today I get to showcase the adorable Kimono Marci.  She comes with a bonsai tree and a sentiment.  For today I used Marci by herself.  I think she's my favorite out of the group.   Here's another simple card made by me.

See, pretty simple, yea?  Isn't she pretty?  I love her two buns and the blank canvas of her kimono.  I originally had colored her kimono simple and decided to add some decoration to it (at the last minute).  Not bad, could use some work but I like it for now.  Used one of my favorite washi papers as the color scheme for this card.  The card base is black cs that I ran through my Cuttlebug using the cherry blossom Asian embossing folder.  Love that folder, it's huge and can cover up a large piece of cs.  The next layer up is a black & gold patterned paper I found in my stash.  Next up is more black cs and that beautiful washi paper.  The sentiment is from my blogging buddy, Jenny, it was perfect for my card.

So for her kimono I used one of the darker colors to make simple flowers in varying sizes, kinda wanted to get a fading affect into the material.  At the bottom where the color gets lighter I added tiny flowers and some black scroll work.  Definitely going to practice and try to make it a little more visible, especially the faded out parts.  Alrighty, time for you to head on over to Jeannette's blog.  She's got a beautiful sample she's excited to share with you.  And just in case you get lost along the way here is today's line-up:

LLLC Inspiration Monday - New Release Showcase

(This is my second post for today.  If you are looking for my Lollipop Crafts post please scroll down.)

Today I get to hop along with the La-La Land Crafts Inspiration Monday team to help showcase 14 new stamps being released today!!  If you've come from Kim's blog then you are on the right track.  If not, then head on over to the La-La Land Crafts blog to start at the beginning and get all the details.

Today I'm showcasing Marci with Lantern.   She comes with a string of lanterns and a sentiment.  I hope you like.  :)

For my card I only used Marci and the sentiment.  I created my own background paper with a background stamp (Sku#447) and some distress inks.  Also used the lantern embossing folder from Cuttlebug.   I masked parts of Marci so that I could use the same RN background stamp to add some fun details to her outfit.  I stamped it in rich cocoa and then used a white gel pen.  After I colored the lantern I drew in some lines and added dots and flowers using a combination of Copics and white gel pen.  For the background, I embossed kraft cs with the lantern EF then used distress inks on the lanterns to give it a bit of pop.  Once I was satisfied with the color I decided to fussy cut them out and layer it over the bg paper.  (I only used two of the strings, the other one is on the inside of the card.)  This was all matted on to dark brown cs.  I added a sheer orange ribbon and for the sentiment kept it clean and matted it on to brown cs as well.

I bet you are all wondering who else is in this 14 stamp release extravaganza yea?  Well without further ado here they are.  Let's welcome the newest Marcis and Lukas to the family as well as some new background images:

Flutterby Wednesday #189

Hello!!
A warm welcome to you all and to any new friends!  My goodness, it's been a very slow process getting back in the groove.  It seems like forever since I last posted and I want to thank you all for staying with me while I'm trying to get back to blogging.  Trying to catch up at work has been a bit of a challenge as well, but slowly, I predict, I will be back to normal, or at least my version of normal.  (haha)

Speaking of normal, today we hope you join us for a new challenge over at the Flutterby Wednesday blog.  Today, challenge #189, is a L*O*V*E recipe.
  • L = 2 or more layers
  • O = odd # of embellishments (ex: 3, 5, 7)
  • V = use the color VIOLET on your creation
  • E = use any other color EXCEPT red.
  • Include a butterfly, fairy or angel on your creation
For more fluttery inspirations please visit my awesome team at the Flutterby Wednesday blog.  The list is located on the right side bar.  My share today is one of the make & takes featuring one of the newly released images premiering at CHA from La-La Land Crafts.  Her name is Marci with Cat and she is adorable.  Irina created an adorable 3-D milk carton project plus three other projects.  This was the only one I got to make.  Why?  Our table was so very popular we actually ran out of all the other projects!!  Goes to show how much fun everyone had at our booth.  And the beautiful projects Irina created also kept them coming back each day of the show.  I don't have any pictures of the rest of the projects, but keep checking in at the La-La Land Crafts blog and hopefully Irina will post them.  Here's the milk carton and if you look really close you can see all the details.  Now I embellished it up a bit to make sure I followed the recipe, but the original does not have all the bling.

Isn't this darling?  I believe the patterns for all the elements (milk carton, picket fence, roof & tree) were cut using a Silhouette machine.  The grass looks like a Fiskars grass border punch.  Here is a side view of the carton.

I used my new Copics (2011 & 2012 woo hoo!!) markers to color Marci with cat as well as the small MS butterfly fluttering around.  So how did I do with the recipe?  Let's see, multiple layers? Check.  Odd number of embellishments?  (3 orange gems in the tree, 3 flower gems and the rope ribbon = 7)  Check.  Any violet here?  (Yep, her dress, shoes, flower gem and butterfly)  Check.  Use any color but red?  You betcha, that's pink not red!  So that's a check!  Lastly I have my little butterfly.  Check!  Woo Hoo!!  (hahaha)

Alrighty, now it's your turn to create something using our L*O*V*E recipe.  Link up with us at the Flutter By Wednesday blog and don't forget your butterfly, angel or fairy.  Have fun with it, can't wait to see what you create!!

Mahalo for stopping by and if you would like to purchase any of the new La-La Land Crafts stamps from CHA, they are now in the store.  Have a terrific Wednesday!!

Here's a couple more pictures from CHA.

With Renate & Jess from TGF, that's my Mermaid card!!

Here's one with Naomi, 3-D Thanh (hangin' off Naomi's purse) & Carisa (Designed to Color)

And here's one with Sharette:

Here's one of me and Sparkle:

And lastly here is a nice group picture of new and former DT teams for The Greeting Farm:

Life's an adventure

Brrr!  It's been raining and it's cold (50 degrees), I know I shouldn't be complaining, but I think this qualifies as ok.  I mean it's 50 degrees in California!  Well at least there will be snow on the mountains, that's always something to look forward to.

Let's get to today's challenge over at Lollipop Crafts.  This week both the A & T teams are teaming up for an Anything Goes challenge!  Woo Hoo!!  Now how can you not want to play?  Please jump on over to the Lollipop Crafts blog to see what the rest of the teams have to share.

In anticipation of the snow on the mountain as well as a tribute to the many snowboarders, skiiers and snow lovers I wanted to share a card I made with one of the newest and cutest images from La-La Land Crafts.  He's an adventurer at heart and doesn't mind being up in the clouds.  Especially when he's trying to get to that fresh powder.  Who am I talking about?  Why, Snowboard Luka that's who.  He was available for a very short time last week along with Snowboard Marci in the La-La Land store, so if you didn't get a chance to grab him, you'll have to wait til December.

Carving his way down the mountain he's riding a custom made board (by me) and having the time of his life.  Wouldn't you be if you had your own custom made board and all that fresh snow on the ground?  hehe
I wanted to keep this card simple and have Luka be the main attraction.  By adding the clouds it looks like he's high up on the mountain.  It had been a while since I pulled out my cloud stencil to do the background, I think it definitely makes for a little bit of drama.  I used a Tim Holtz "Fades" embossing folder to create the effect in the snow.  It was perfect because it fit right around Luka's board.

If you haven't guessed yet, this scene is all on one piece of white cs!  Yep!  Been having fun with the CAS layout, and making the image the main focus.  Using a woodgrain image, I stamped it onto some kraft cs using Vintage photo Distress ink.  This I made into the base of the card.  The next layer in is blue cs and on top of that is the colored up image.  I distressed the card base around the edges using the same Vintage photo ink.  Thought it would be fun to add some snowflakes so I punched two out of the scraps of kraft cs using one of my favorite Martha Stewart snowflake punches and added them on each side of Luka.  I also distressed the snowflakes using the same colored Distress ink.

I was debating on whether to put a sentiment in the snow, something like Kowabunga! or some other fun eclamation, but I was looking through my go to AmyR stamps and found this one (see left image).  I thought it was the perfect choice.  I stamped it on kraft cardstock then using the Vintage photo ink I distressed the edges.  Mounted it on a piece of the wood grain scraps I had left over from the base of the card and used dimensional mounting tape to lift it up.

Well my friends, that's all I have for you today.  I hope you all get a chance to visit the Lollipop Crafts blog to see what fun and amazing projects the A&T teams have come up with.  Then I hope you get to link up with us with your Anything Goes project(s).  Have a great week and stay warm!!

Hugs,
Leanne

Lilo's Fun Friday #5

Happy Friday and Happy Veteran's Day everyone!!

I'm sitting here in Renate's craft room thinking of something to post.  We're getting the last minute items squared away for our first craft/stamp show.  If any of you are in the Carson, California area and are brave enough to come out in the rain we'd love to see you.  For details and a list of vendors click on this link to head to the Stamp in the Hand website.

So for today's Fun Friday share I have one of our make & takes for the show.  It's an ornament featuring Sunny Christmas Luka from La-La Land Crafts.  Both Renate and I designed it and we so loved the end result.  We wanted to create something that you would want to hang either on your shirt or sweater or on the Christmas tree.  Something cute to create a bit of holiday cheer.  Hope you all like it.  :)

We used label #9 to create this ornament.  The dp is from The Christmas glitter stack from DCWV.  The bottom layer is chipboard and he was stamped on Neenah cs.  We kept the Copic colors to a minimum and that helped bring this little guy to life.  There is an overlay of acetate on top of the whole image and we added the gem to the center of the snowflake over the acetate.  We decided to add bells and a fun bow to the top.  The bells give it a sweet sound while you are wearing it.  We hope it attracts lots of people to our  booth.  Here's a picture of Renate wearing it.  (Sorry she didn't want to be in the picture)  She's a bit camera shy  ..  hehehe...  And the picture below is the back of the ornament.

It's pretty versatile and with Sunny Christmas Luka as the centerpiece who would dare to say it wasn't cute?!  We hope this attracts lots of people to our booth.  We have two more make & takes and I will share those with you next week.  For now, let me know what you think of our little guy.  Would you also say a little prayer that the rain stays away this weekend?  Think sunny thoughts please.  :)

Okie dokie, that's all I have for today.  If you would like to link up for fun feel free to do so using the Inlinks button below.  Remember it's anything you want to share.  Thanks Kris for linking up last week and for talking about it on your blog.  You rock sista!  :)

Well time to help with the preparations for Saturday.  Have a wonderful Friday everyone and again Happy Veteran's day to those that served in the armed forces and that are currently serving.  We are so proud of you all and say a prayer for your safety everyday.

Mahalo for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!!

Hugs,
Leanne

A little hunny bunny & kitty kat for your Saturday Morning

Hello everyone!
I am here to share some new release happenings over at La-La Land Crafts.  Papa & Mama have been very busy these past couple of months and boy have they created some of my most favorite images to date.  Be sure to stop by the La-La Land Crafts blog to see the other releases and inspirations created by the fantastic design team.  There are 8 new images and they will surely melt your heart.   Just take a look and tell me I wasn't right?!

Today is also World Card Making Day.  Here are some fun facts about this special day:
World Card Making Day began in 2006 as National Card Making Day. Founded by Paper Crafts magazine to bring card makers together at the beginning of the busiest card-making season of the year, it was first held on October 7, 2006. The initial celebration involved the Paper Crafts magazine audience only; however, due to the positive response it received and the worldwide popularity of card making, the holiday became known as World Card Making Day from then on.

Celebrating its fifth year in 2010, World Card Making Day is celebrated annually on the first Saturday in October. It's a day for the card-making community -- hobbyists, retailers, and manufacturers -- to unite and celebrate the connection and creativity that is the heart of card making.
How cool is that?  That a small company like Paper Crafts was able to make an awesome impact with this wonderful hobby of ours.  So cool!!  So to keep in line with this not only being National Card Making Day, but also release day at La-La Land Crafts, I have the honor of showcasing not one but two of the cute new Harujuku Marci girls!  The first one up is Hunny Bunny Marci and this little gal with her stylish glasses and cute bunny beanie will make you smile.  When I first saw her I had to go with bright colors.  She was so much fun to color!  I have been hoarding this Basic Grey paper for a few months and knew I wanted to use her with it.  So beware, this is going to be a very bright card!  I also used a fun sentiment from the AmyR Wish You Were Here sentiment set.
Hello with Hunny Bunny Marci
She is so ready to go to Anime Expo or Comic-Con.  Incidentally, I heard that while on vacation Mama & Papa just happened to attend Anime Expo and this is where they got their inspiration.  You'll have to see the other Marci girl, Big Panda Marci, you will flip out and want them all!!  I certainly do.  :)

Next up on the list is Kitty Kat Marci.  This little gal is another of the Harujuku girls and just as cute as Hunny Bunny Marci.  I new that I wanted to make a Halloween card with her, so that's what I did.  I made a CAS card, because the paper was pretty bright and busy and I wanted to showcase how super cute Kitty Kat Marci is.  I also got to use my new dies, spooky fence, and scare-dy cat.

Happy Halloween with Kitty Kat Marci & Scare-dy Cat
This little girl was also so much fun to color.  I gave her a bit of sparkle and her white blonde hair was a first for me.  Check out Amy Young's tutorial on fair hair.  I'm not sure if you can tell, I made some black grass, well techinically this is supposed to be night time, so that's why I made the long grass, or maybe weeds black.  The house stamped behind Scare-dy cat is a $1 clear stamp I found at Joann's.  Thought it gave this a fun little background scene.  The sentiment is from another AmyR stamp set, Ghostly Greetings, can you tell I love her sentiments?  They go with any stamp.

How about a close up of Scare-dy Cat?  I hope you can see what I did with his eyes.  I gave him green eyes, and added some glitter to them.  Thought that would be a fun accent...

Although we are showcasing the new images on October 1st, they will be on pre-order starting October 1st with a ship date of October 15th.  Now don't forget to check out the La-La Land blog for all the wonderful creations with all the new releases.  I've seen them and boy let me tell you the DT rocked them out!!

Hunny Bunny Marci
Kitty Kat Marci
Ok my friends, Happy National Card Making Day, I hope you get to play with your stamps, inks, markers and papers and create some wonderful cards.  I plan to finish up my Thank you cards and hopefully send them out on Monday.  Mahalo for stopping by, I hope you are inspired!

Hugs,
Lilo

Just some fun stuff today...

Happy Sunday everyone!
Just and FYI... This is going to be a pretty long one, hehe..

Did you all get a chance to see what's poppin' up at The Greeting Farm?  It's clearly adorable and clearly fun. hehehe..  For more info head on over to the blog (HERE) and you'll get a chance to win a clearly fabulous prize.  You'll also be happy to know that not only are our talented Farmers showcasing but some fabulous and familiar faces from the past teams as well.  Lots of fun and inspiration to be had over there.  Don't miss out!

So yesterday my mom and I went on our very first hike through Chantry Flats up at Santa Anita Canyon trying to head to Sturtevant Falls in the Angeles National Forest.  We started out very early and still had to hike 15 minutes to get to the beginning point!  Well I told my mom it was just a warm up for our legs and boy I'm kinda glad we did because it was a pretty long walk up and down through lovely scenery.  It was a pretty good sized path and mostly paved.  We didn't make it all the way to the falls but we did see some man-made ones on the way so that was good enough for us.  Of course the trek back up was slow going but we made it and were super happy to get back.  All in all it took about 2 hours round trip.  We treated ourselves to some yummy pom-blueberry drinks from Coffee Bean and made a stop at one of the local scrapbook store, Scrap N' Yap, where I picked up some cool papers & more Viva color pens.
Here are a few pictures from the hike:

After a 15 min trek from the car we are ready to start!

Here we go! Down the hill!

Not bad, only 1.8 miles to go
Down some more, but there's shade!

1/2 mile to the falls?
We didn't make it all the way up as I mentioned earlier, but it was still quite a trek.  Needless to say we were definitely a little out of shape, but it was fun none the less.  Here we are at the end gearing up for the 15 min walk back to the car.

We made it!

At the top heading back to the car

Our reward, Pom-Blueberry smoothies - YUM!
Not sure if we'll be doing this again, but if we do we'll know what to expect.

I wanted to share the easel cards we made at Summer CHA.  As you all know I was there to help out a wonderful company, La-La Land Crafts, with my crafting BFF, Renate.  We had a lot of fun, met some new friends and also reconnected with some from the Winter show.  Of course Irina and Eric went all out again with the fabulous spot, display and arrangements.  The DT, my goodness they really outdid themselves, creating some beautiful cards and projects.  Of course Irina wowed everyone with her make-n-takes, three to be exact and all just as cute and beautiful as the others.
The cards I am showing are the ones I made, some of the elements might not match the actual card, but it was pretty close.  I had to improvise because we ran out of most of the elements they were so popular.
On the first day we played with the cute and adorable Mermaid Marci:

On the second day we got to play with the adorable Genie Marci.

And on the third day we used Roller Skate Marci with a twisted easel card:

All of these images and more can be found at the La-La Land Crafts store in digital or deeply etched red rubber.  With the brand new lines they are not only deeply etched red rubber with cling form, they will now be scroll cut so you don't have to cut them down anymore!  This process will eventually roll out with the older stamps once they make more.  That was a big hit at the show.

Now here are a few pictures from CHA.

The lovely Sparkle stopped by!
She is so pretty and so nice, loved meeting her.

We are so blessed.
If you haven't been to the La-La Land FB page to see all the pictures of our new and old friends, pop on over there to see all the fun we had.  And if you happen to see your picture go ahead and tag it.

Alrighty, I think that's enough for today..  Be sure to pop on back from my Farm Fresh Mystery Monday card featuring a former Farmer.  Until then enjoy the rest of your Sunday and let me know if you accomplished all that you wanted to this weekend.
Mahalo for stopping by!
Hugs,
Lilo
