Violets for Sofia

Happy Thursday! I have a new project to share which includes wooden letters, a frame & a card. All of these projects are for my co-worker's (JC) god daughter's birthday this weekend. She gave me this really cool picture (see left) as inspiration. Isn't it a gorgeous picture? I love it!
Her god-daughter's name is Sofia and she likes the color violet, black and white lions. Well I didn't have a lion stamp, so I asked JC if it was ok to use another theme. She said how about butterflies and then sent me that picture. I told her I can definitely do butterflies. She also asked me to make it pre-teen since Sofia will be turning 12. Haha, our version of pre-teen is probably totally different than what a pre-teen now-a-days is like, so I just tried to do my best and tried to remember what some of my friends kids were wearing or into these days.
The following is what I came up with.. First up were the wooden letters for Sofia's name I chose a really beautiful butterfly from a clear stamp set that I have not found a use for yet. The set is called Mindscape from Inkadinkado. . Also used the 5-petal flower. If you look inside each image you will see other images within. This was a genius idea from a super detailed artist. kudos! I made my own dp using those stamps for the letters "S" & "A" For the other letters I either used an embossed cs or dp. For the "F" I adhered a "morphed" image of TGF's WS-Chelsea's torso & CC-Thursday's bottoms. Doesn't she look cool?! I love it, she looks like some of the teens I've seen lately. She was perfect!! :) I added that ribbon flower to the top of the "F" for a reason. While I was trying to push a tack through the back the wood split! Ack! I wasn't expecting any mishaps and didn't have a spare one so I had to be creative. First I used mod podge to glue the seam back together. I cut off a piece of ribbon and knotted it so that it would hold the two pieces together while it dried. I remembered I had a similar color ruffled ribbon and decided to make a ribbon flower to hide the imperfection. I'm soooo happy and relieved that it worked out. WHEW, SIGH!!
Here is the frame I made. Now that I look at it, it sorta looks like china. LOL! For this I also made my own dp using the similar stamps and another "morphed" Chelsea. I hope you can see the two different inks I used. Some of the images are stamped with Grape Jelly and the others are with the standard Tuxedo black. I like the contrast. As for that "morphed" Chelsea, you know she's really growing on me. Love it how the top and bottom look seamless. :)
Last but not least, the card. JC wasn't expecting a card, but I thought I would add one as a bonus. So going with the same theme I did an easel card.

I *heart* the new "morphed" Chelsea!!! I'm pretty sure she will make a guest appearance in the future. I plan to submit a couple of these to the following challenges happening over at CA&F: WTW-Starts-Off-Easel-Y-Amused challenge, which features the super talented August guest DTM, Kristy Young. She wants us to make an easel card, get it easel-y-amused?! I thought that was cute! I'm so glad that I decided to try out the easel card the other day. Love it how things fall into place. The other challenge is for Monday Mania issued by another super talented wahine Joni Wilson. She's challenging us to morph an image. I absolute love this challenge. It's so fun to mix and match the images to create a new one. I think I have two items that will qualify. :) Definitely make sure you check out Kristy's and Joni's blogs as well as the CA&F blog for all the beautiful samples, these ladies are super talented!! Hope you get to play along. Mahalo for stopping by today, have a great one!!

Leanne, you've totally outdone yourself! The letters are wonderful, love the purple and the characters you used to "morph" ARE seamless, it took me a minute to figure out who was who :0) Glad you could fix your crafty boo-boo, I have to do that more frequently than I would like to admit ;0) Love the frame too, those butterflies are gorgeous!

OH LEANNE!! THESE ARE GORGEOUS!!!!! I love them!!! ALL of it!! Her name looks great and that ribbon flower to me was the perfect touch!!! I have letters painted for both of my kids that use to be on their wall but thaey keep taking them down!! I wanted to wait until Jazmine got alittle older before I decorated them!! I just painted hers lime green and Baileys(my son) black, until they can decide what they want on them!!
Oh well one of these days I'll get them done and back on their wall
Thanks for making me smile today!!! I needed it!!
Hugs:)
