A bookmark for Grandma

Hello!

Today I wanted to share the fun bookmark I made for my Grandma's birthday.  She loves to sew and read so I decided to make her a sewing themed little gift to go with some of her favorite authored books.

First off I used some beautiful dies from La-La Land Crafts.  The February Club Kit was a sewing theme.  So many gorgeous dies and other lovely pretty things came with the kit.  I haven't had a chance to play with everything except the dies and one of the sentiment stamps, but I'll make some time to put all the projects together soon.  Below is a close up on the detailed filigree scissors, and the measuring tape ribbon I used.

I also used a stitched border die from MFT to keep the theme going all the way through.  I found a baby button brad and it worked perfectly on the scissors.  I bet your wondering if the scissors close, well take a look...

They do!  hahaha!  Well I guess as long and you don't tighten the brad too much or glue it down you should be able to open and close them.  So cute!  You also receive a buttons border die and some separate buttons.  As you can see I used them on the side of the bookmark and on the washi cut banner.  That sentiment also comes with the kit.  I sew love this set (pun intended hahaha).

Grandmother really liked it and she said she'll use it as she's reading all the books we sent to her.  I am so happy!!  If you're interested in how the kit club works click HERE.  There are so many options to choose from and you don't have to wait to get them in a year!  So handy and so darn cute!!  Okie dokes, this is as good a time as any to say... Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.  I'll have an Aloha Friday challenge post tomorrow, hope you'll stop by to see what it is and then join our challenge.  Ta-ta for now!!

Lollipop Crafts Challenge #88

Hey everyone!!

We're having another fun challenge over at the Lollipop Crafts blog this week and guess who's late in posting?  Yep, that would be me!  Well I hope you won't hold it against me!  (hehe) It was a pretty jam-packed weekend and it was non-stop so I didn't get a chance to upload my challenge share until now.  I hope you will join us for our Back to School challenge this week.  Hop on over to the blog and check out what the A-Team has to inspire you.  They did a wonderful job (as always)!  And also you'll want to know who our sponsor is this week.  Stop by the LC blog on Wednesday to check out the T-Team sponsor spotlight on Eye Candie Creations.

I made another bookmark, because you can't have too many.  I found this really cool anime girl in a school outfit that was perfect.

I colored her up with greens, dark grays, blues and pink!  Yep, I've been itching to color up some pink hair and this was a perfect image to do that.   Her name is Tohru Honda and the lineart is by Sureya.  I just love all of Sureya's sketches and lineart.  They have that awesome anime/manga feel.  Too bad I can't color as well, but I'm still practicing.  I think I'll purchase Zoe's series of coloring tutorials.  I seriously need some help! lol..

Anyhoos,  I thought it would be fun to trim the image narrow so that her flowing hair goes off the edge.  Matted the image to a piece of black cardstock and see the ribbon on top?  Well I didn't have any black or green handy so I used my Copics to color one black and one green to match her outfit.  Pretty cool how you can use Copics to add some color to match your accessories and colored image. :)

Well friends, I hope you are inspired to create some Back to School items and then share with us on the LC blog.  We'd love to come and ooh and ahh! :)  Mahalo for stopping by!!

Take care,
Leanne

FBW #197 - Open challenge with Sparkle Creations!!

Hello everyone!!!

Wanted to say a big MAHALO to everyone that participated in last week's FBW challenge.  I hope you considered and sent off your card to Butterfly Kisses to brighten up some young person's day.  What a wonderful challenge that was!

This week we have a treat for everyone.  It's an open challenge this week and we are being sponsored by Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps.  I'm pretty excited that Sparkle is our sponsor this week.  She's a sweetheart and so much fun to be around.  I was lucky enough to meet her at all 3 CHAs that I attended.  And we were on the same DT at TGF Farm Fresh Challenges.  Her images are fun to work with and unique in their design.  Please stop by the SCRS challenge blog where you can find tons of inspiration from her amazing design team and maybe join in a challenge or two.  Head on over to the FBW blog to see what the rest of the DT created using a Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamp.  Links to everyone's blogs is listed in the side bar.  We hope you can play along again and don't forget to add your butterfly, fairy or angel.

Here are some really cute bookmarks I put together for our make and takes at the Rubber stamp convention a few weeks ago.  Renate' came up with the concept and I finished them up.  They were a really big hit.  I made two versions using the same items.

The beautiful little girl is Cherry Blossom Rin.  As you can see, the only difference was the colors of the kimono, which were reversed and the randomness of the flowers.  Now keeping with our theme I added a black butterfly to each bookmark.  I think it adds a nice contrast and picks up the blacks in her hair.

Alrighty, now it's time for you to create your card or project and share it with us at the Flutterby Wednesdays challenge blog and don't forget the challenge details:
  • Open challenge
  • Use your fairy, butterfly or angel
Mahalo for stopping by!  Enjoy the rest of your week!

Hugs,
Leanne
