LFF # 81 - Some Spooky treats bags

Happy Halloween everyone!!

I just got back from the first annual Hello Kitty Convention.  It was a small venue, lots of people and a few booths.  Lots of fun things to see and not so fun lines to stand in.  All-in-all it was worth taking the day off.  I'll post some pictures as soon as I go through and delete the fuzzy ones. hahaha!

I had wanted to have this post up by now, but alas I forgot to publish it. hahaha!  I guess I was too excited to get to the Con.  Here are the treat bags I made for my co-workers using the cute Spooky monsters set from The Greeting Farm.  This is going to be a short post as I'm pressed for time.  So mostly pictures.  I hope that's ok for today. :D

"Spooky" Treats... NOT!! 

The bags are from Michael's, the toppers are an old DCWV Halloween paper pad which I cut out using the top note die from Stampin' Up.  The sentiments come with the stamp set and were perfectly sized for the tags.  I stamped them with black Memento ink and cut them out freehand.  Some as banners others just in a rectangle, then I matted them to black cardstock.  Each of the "monsters" were stamped with some different colors inks and colored in with Copics.  Glad I made some time to make these.  Inside I threw in my favorite candies, Hi-Chew, and left each one at their desks so they would see it this morning.

Swiss Pixie Book Abigail

Just the other day I got a some new stamps from CC Designs and couldn't wait to ink up one of them. Meet Swiss Pixie Book Abigail...  As you can see she was too cute to bypass for another day.

Just sitting here thinking of YOU

I did a super simple 1-layered card for easy mailing.  This is for the bookworm in all of us and I'm planning to send this to my grams who loves reading.  One of our favorite authors is Catherine Coulter. It's been so long since I've read a new book from her, I'll have to go to the book store and see if she's written anything new and then send it off to my grams.  I had a lot of fun coloring this image, especially the books!  hehe,  I went with a nice soft vintage colored palette and love the end result.  The distress inks make this look like a burnt piece of paper.  hahaha...  I thought the AmyR sentiment was perfect!!  You can never go wrong with an AmyR sentiment.

Turning 6 years old!

Hello!

Today I have a fun birthday card to share featuring an older CC Designs stamp from the Kiki La Rue line.  The image, called Sweet Kiki La Rue. is not only adorable she was the perfect choice for this birthday card I made for a sweet little girl...

I used several dies from CC Designs, MFT, Little B and a circle punch.  The pink cardstock is from MFT and the patterned paper is from Wild Rose Designs.  Also used was a white/purple twine from Doodlebug Designs and a white gel pen.  Everything was colored with Copic markers.

Below are some close-ups of the card.  First up is the flower with the #6 inside.  Yep this little girl just turned 6, she's a big girl now!  I used a Little B scallop die, a circle punch from Marvy and the #6 from CC Designs Cutter bubble numbers die.  I used Copics to color all three elements and then used my WOS clear glitter brush pen to give it a nice coat of sparkle.

Up next is Sweet Kiki La Rue herself.  I'm not so good with blonde hair, but this isn't too bad, is it? hahaha.  I stamped her in brown instead of black to give her a softer look.  I think she's adorable!!

There is nothing like having a double scoop with a cherry on top to make your birthday extra special right?  hehehe,

A Christmas card - Holiday Anya 4

Hey everyone!

**So excited, my card was featured on the Wow'd Me Wednesday post at TGF!!**

Happy Sunday!  Hope you're all having a great weekend.  I spent all day Saturday in a gym reffing volleyball, so today I'm definitely going to relax and put in some crafting time.  I recently received a bunch of new TGF stamps and couldn't wait to ink up the adorable Holiday Anya 4.  I think she is very sweet.  This is officially my very first Christmas card of the season...

I had some fun with some mixed media sprays I purchased at a local scrapbook store.  They are the new sprays from Prima and I picked up 3 to try.  I was excited to try them out as soon as I saw a sample of what they can do.  After this project I just might go back to pick up some more colors.

To create the background
I cut down a white piece of Strathmore Smooth Bristol paper in to a 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" square.  Taking the washi tape I taped off about a 1/2" border all the way around.  Next I layed down the stencil on top and started to spritz first the Peony and then the Lime green colors on to the paper.  Once everything was dried I pulled off the stencil and then the washi paper.  Love the framed look of it and the cool thing about these sprays is the nice shimmer they give off.  Here is the finished background...  Pretty cool! 

As my stencil was drying I pulled out the discontinued TGF snowflake die and cut two from the same Strathmore paper pad.  Below is a picture of the background with the sprays, stencil and die.  This was a really easy process and I love the result!!

The sentiment is a laser cut word from Island Scrapbooking.  I used another spray, Tea stain, to spritz on top of the word making it go from white to this really pretty shimmery light gold. 

I colored up Anya in red and had fun with the Christmas tree.  After coloring I fussy cut her out. Isn't she a cutie?  I could easily make a few more with her as the focal point.

I glued her down in the center of the card instead of popping her up.  I'm probably going to mail it so having it sent flat makes it easier on shipping.

And for those of you who like sparkle and bling, I actually sprayed the whole front with my go-to pearlized spray.  Although you can't see it in my pictures I'm sure the recipient will be able to enjoy it.

LFF #80 - Is it a purse or frame??

Hello!!

How are you today?  I'm excited to share today's project with you.  It came about as I was working on an upcycle project.  I started to do this and ended up doing something else.  I kept this on the side to finish later and today I would like to share the completed project for today's Lilo's Fun Friday #80.  I'm really not sure what to call it, so for now you could call it a purse-frame.  You might recognize the two little girls sharing the spotlight here.  I guess I could have used any image, but I decided to go with my instincts and picked these two from Sister Stamps, Minako and Misaki.

The base was cut from chipboard, but can you guess what the stencil I used is?  If you guessed a fan you would be correct!  Yep I used a fan as the stencil for the base.  To cover the project I used this beautiful washi paper from Hanko Designs. As an embellishment a light pink daisy fabric ribbon from Daiso was glued on the edges and the handle which is how it turned in to a purse.  I used an old Kodak photo frame and covered it with a scrap of the same washi paper, then I adhered it with pop up dots to give it a lift.  I stamped "Happiness" in kanji in the center, but you can still slip a small (very small) photo inside from the top.

Here is a close up of the two little girls.  I chose to color them up with greens and pinks which makes them stand out from the softer pinks, whites and golds.  You'll also get to see how pretty the pagodas are as a nice addition to the background.  Love how it doesn't detract from the pretty washi paper; it sorta blends right in.

Minako

First up is Minako.  She's one of my favorites.  I guess because she looks so Japanese.  hehehe  I gave her a soft green colored kimono with pink flowers.  I used some older washi paper for the pagoda.  What a beautiful die from La-La Land Crafts.  Can't believe I waited so long to use it.  I guess I was waiting for the right project.  I added the cherry blossoms here, also from La-La Land Crafts.  The pearls in the center are actually dots I made with my pearl pen from Viva Decor.  If you look closely you'll see them all over the project, not just on the die cut flowers.

Misaki

Here's a close-up of the adorable, Misaki.  I colored her up in pretty medium greens and pinks.  I love how happy she looks.  Behind her is the gold pagoda with a couple of the cherry blossoms.  I love how each element goes so well together.  The only thing that is a little bit off is that one of the pagodas is a smidge off from the other one.  Next time I'll make sure to add the pagodas first so they line up evenly then add the frame.  Here's the back of the frame...

I found this quote on the internet and hand-wrote it.  I used that pretty cherry blossom stamp to add branches around the bottom of the frame.  Using the same colored ink pad I used a sponge to lightly add some distress to the edges of the frame.  A nice way to finish the back.

Well that was fun!  I love how this project which had no direction to begin with turned out.  Looks like I'm starting to find my groove again.  I've got a few more projects like this to share,  Each one was a lot of fun to make.  This particular project is heading to a new home.  I hope the one who gets it will enjoy it as much as I had making it.  Wishing you all a happy Aloha Friday and thanks so much for stopping by!!

A card for Kathy's Birthday

Well hello!!

Hey I'm back to share another card I made but haven't blogged about yet.  It was Kathy's birthday on the 1st and she and I swapped our belated birthday gifts.  I'm still working on her handmade gift, but I wanted to share the card I made using the super adorable Sage from TGF.  She is the 10th release from the Super Secret Stamp Club.  When Sage came in the mail I wanted to ink her up right away and I knew I would use her for Kathy's card.

I picked blues and greens for her and lots of bling.  The pieces used are actually scraps from another project I finished, these are the leftovers.  The dp is from Basic Gray and I wish I had gotten a few more sheets of it.   I used Prima flowers and crystals.  The banners are from La-La Land Crafts and the border punch was from Martha Stewart.

I love Sage's expression, it's adorable!!  Can't wait to use her again for another fun project.  The shot above shows a little bit of a close up of the details on the bottom.  Below is what I did on the inside of the card.  Kept it nice and clean and left some space for me to write her a nice birthday message.

I had a blast putting this one together and I'm a happy crafter knowing that she liked it.

Hello!!

Thank you for the warm welcome back to blogland. :)  I appreciate the love and encouragement.  Today I'd like to share 2 special wedding cards I made for one of my co-workers and his new wife.  It was a last minute card that came together in my mind while driving home from work of all things.  lol.  Hey where ever the inspiration strikes right?  hehe..  Here's the card featuring Mr & Mrs from SCRS.

Mr. & Mrs ~ Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamp

This is one of my favorite go-to wedding stamps.  Aki did an amazing job illustrating it.  I went with an Asian theme pulling the papers from my Hanko Designs stash.  The gold paper is actually from a Martha Stewart paper pad.  The pink flowers on the bridge are from Island Scrapbooking.  The circle and scallop circle dies used are from Lifestyle Crafts except for that bridge which is from La-La Land Crafts.

I love the contrast of colors with the black and the washi papers are so pretty.  I tried to color the images up like RJ and Jenny, I hope I did them justice and that they like this card.

Here is the 2nd card which more co-workers signed featuring one of the cut & emboss dies from Cuttlebug (Flower Bramble by Anna Griffin) by Provocraft.

Isn't it beautiful?  I love the details on the flowers and the leaves.  It's a pretty big card right?  It measures 5 1/2 x 7 1/2.  Yes the die itself is 5x7.  I used washi paper with red & black Tsumugi cardstock from Hanko Designs and some gold cardstock.

Here's a better view of the embossed features.  This was a quick card to make.  The only part that took awhile was choosing the papers (hahaha).

CHEERS to the newly wedded couple, blessings to them both.  I have some other projects I've been working on to share and hopefully I'll have some time to do that.  I'm actually looking forward to that. For today's inspiration I went a little overboard with my card, pulling out several dies and punches.  I used the fun image, Ladybug Boots/ Daisies Planter from Imagine That! Digis by Kris, as my focal point.  You'll love this set, so many awesome digis and ways to use them, they also include fun sentiments.

Stitched circles from MFT, asterik from Marvy, open leaves from LLLC, 8-petal flowers from Lifestyle crafts and lastly the floral border is from Martha Stewart.  This was a lot of fun to put together but I am by no means an expert at floral design. lol!

Say Cheese!

Hello!

Hope everyone is doing well.  It's been a rough couple of months at work and actually getting to blog has been a bit difficult.  I'm so bummed because I actually like it here.  With all the new things going on at work it feels like blogging would be the last thing I'd want to do, but I'm going to try to turn that around and try to get back in to the groove.  What better way to finding my groove than with a sweet card and if I decided to enter it in to the C.C. Designs DT Call well that just shows ya I mean business!  (hahaha)  Dr. Maya Angelou said it best, "Ain't nothin' to it but to do it" and I don't think I have anything to lose plus I get to add another card to my stash.  Flipping through my C.C. Designs stamps, I came across Camera Birgitta.  I'm pretty sure I haven't inked her up yet so she was perfect for a CAS kind of card.

I'm a big fan of the C.C. Cutters and AmyR's sentiments, but there is just something about these Birgittas... So darn cute!  After stamping her on to the white cardstock I happily colored her with Copics.  Thought it would be fun to keep the summer colors alive as they make me happy.  And look she's got polarized sunglasses!!  hehehe  I added two perfect sentiments from AmyR's Wish You Were Here stamp set.  The last touch was to add the Daisy chain banner to the left side of the card.  There might have been just a bit too much white space for me and I like how the daisies look where they fell.

This was a lot of fun to put together and getting to write about it here was another point on the road to finding my groove.  Hoping to actually get back to visiting some blogs and catch up on what everyone has been making and sharing.  I know there's bound to be lot of cute Halloween and Christmas projects.  More inspiration to see and appreciate.  Before I go, "Say Cheese!" =D

KBD - DT Spotlight Frankin Owl

Hello!

Today's share is for my DT spotlight over at the Kitty Bee Designs blog.  I'm sharing a card I made last month around the same time as our blog hop.  Say hello again to Frankin Owl.

I tried to go for a spooky scene in honor of Halloween.  I printed out quite a few of this adorable image as well as the MIC background.  I used Copics and Distress inks again.  Had fun with the scene.  This time I printed out Frankin owl fussy cut him and adhered him to the fence.  Matted the scene on to black cardstock and some orange cardstock then all on to a kraft card.

Hopefully you took advantage of the awesome sale from last month and picked up this guy along with all the other adorable images illustrated by Kitty Bee Designs owner, Ruth Johnson.  She's truly awesome!!  If you didn't no worries, head on over to the shop to pick him up along with any of the other cool images and add them to your collection.
