Music loving basketball referee birthday card

What's up everyone?!  How ya'll doin'?

Well I'm still struggling with my mojo and trying to get back to blogging.  Hoping after April things will get back to normal.  Who knew that April would be so busy/crazy for me?!  Not me!  {hahaha}

I happen to have a card to share and it's one that I had a lot of fun making.  One of my best buds, she's my go-to Disneyland bud, asked me to make her a card for one of her basketball referee friends.  She was sooo sweet telling me she had gone to Target to look for a card but couldn't find any that were as cool as the ones I make.  She definitely got my ego flowing.  {lol}  She asked if I could make the shirt part look like a referee striped top, like all basketball refs wear, and also if I could also incorporate some Beats style headphones; the girl loves to listen to music.  I said I'd try, but I already knew the perfect image to use, I just needed to alter her a little bit.

So here's my basketball referee/music listening themed birthday card featuring none other than Creeper Crew Friday from The Greeting Farm.

I kept the rest of the card simple, layering the card with some brassy looking paper that I dry-embossed to look like a basketball.  I added some glossy accents to the headphones and her black shoes.  Did you know that all basketball referees wear really shiney black shoes?  Not sure why, but they do, so I had to make sure I got that detail in there. They don't wear cargo pants, but I didn't want to alter her too much.

This is one of the coolest cards I've done in a while and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.  My friend really liked it as well.  I hope her friend did too.  I don't know if you can tell, but I tried to create a subtle looking nose for her.  I didn't want to go too dark and mess up her face so I used a slightly darker skin color to draw in the lines, but not too defined.  Here's a close up...

I'm going to keep practicing and try to go more defined if I get the chance.  The cool thing is my card qualifies for the Friday embossing challenge at The Greeting Farm.  It's been a while since I've played in a challenge so I'm going to link this one up.

Alrighty, time to get back to my big project and some other fun stuff that's taking place in the next couple of days.  Hope you'll be back to see what it is.  Mahalo for stopping by!!

Hugs,
Leanne

Goodness gracious that is a 'WOW' card. I love how the embossed background looks like a basketball and that you kept the colors toned down so that the face and referee shirt stand out. This is a sure winner!
