A Late Saturday Sketch

Hey! I didn't get a chance to get this card in for the Saturday challenge, but just the same I wanted to post it anyways. CA&F Sketch Saturday #31 has come and gone. The sketch is another winner. Pam is always coming up with some good ones. I had an extra Flirty Edward stamped but uncolored so I decided to use him. I included some grass and a sidewalk. I followed the tutorial from the Color Me Copic post by Mackenzie. She made it super easy to follow, I just love the end result. I have a feeling I will see more of this fun coloring technique in the near future. For the rest of the card I used a plaid dp from The Abbey Road series by My Mind's Eye. This is where I got my insipiration for the colors. I used my icicles MS punch on the border and a reddish brown cs which I embossed using the argyle embossing folder. The sentiment is from Kodomo Inc which I won from Hanko Designs at the annual Carson A Stamp in the Hand stamp show last year. Well I'm going to make sure I get a chance to do the next sketch, as these are all so much fun to do. Mahalo for stopping by to see what I've been up to. Have a great night and a wonderful Saturday. See you later!!

A Twilight Challenge @ Karber's

I'm back for a short post before heading to bed. See below post for the first one.
Berenice over at Karber's Digital Images is having their very first challenge. It's a Twilight themed one and I thought it would be fun to submit something. I chose to go with two TGF stamps, Flirty Edward and WS-Camille. I chose Camille because she looked the most like Bella to me. I masked Camille over Edward as if she was behind him holding his hand. I went for a night time background with the moon behind them. They look like they could be flying in the sky out over the world. Hope you get a chance to play along.
Mahalo for stopping by! Have a good nite and a great start to the weekend!!

All about Pets

Hello and Happy Aloha Friday! It's been sooo HOT here in LA, hoping it gets cooler for the weekend. If not, I'll be indoors with the A/C on. Hey who am I kidding? That sounds like an awesome plan! Hope where you are it's nice and cool. :)
The gals over at Lollipop Crafts have a cute challenge this week. Challenge #3 is all about pets. Create a card with a pet and submit it for a chance to win a cool prize or be nominated in their top 3. For my card I went with some cute animals that are not necessarily pets... PANDAS! I used a Pink Poison aka TGF 2008 stamp set called Panda Friends. It's funny, I work for a company where the Panda is our logo but there has never been an occassion to use this set until now. I really don't know why, it's such a cute set. Will be more attentive to it from now on. haha
So I created this fun in the yard scene with all the pandas and their human friend. There is another friend just outside the gate with some little buddies to come and play with as well. I popped the wagon up with some mounting tape to give it dimension. I drew in the rope pulling the wagon. Adding the fence just gave this scene a cool divider. And what about a cool saying? The sentiment is actually two separate ones from the same set. I thought they went well together for this card.
I hope you get to play along with the challenge. It's always cute to use animals in your cards from time to time. Mahalo for stopping by and here's wishing you a fantastic Aloha Friday!!!

Smiles are contagious - A shaker card

Happy hump day! Hope you are all having a fabulous day!! I've been out of blogland for a while so will be attempting to get to each of your blogs as soon as possible... Can't wait to see what I've missed for the past couple days. So excited!!
I wanted to share my attempt at a shaker card for the CA&F Monday Mania challenge which is hosted this week by the queen of shaker cards Joy! The challenge is to make a.... SHAKER card. According to Joy she is the queen of shaker cards, and I'll have to agree after visiting her post and some of her friends posts. She has a way with shaker cards that make you drool. You can find all the details for the challenge as well as the samples from Joy and the DT on the CA&F post above.
I went for really simple this time around. No embellishments except for the ones rolling around inside the shaker area. I used Flirty Anya for the main character. She has the trademark TGF smile going on so I thought using the two sentiments relating to smiles and laughter were appropriate. The only other things I used were the fun dp, scalloped circle spellbinder and a recycled plastic container which used to house mounting tape! hahaha. Yes I was saving it for something like this. The tricky part was trying to keep the beads from rolling while lining up the cut out to the rest of the dp for the backing. It actually took me two tries to get it right.
It's not one of my best but I love it just the same. Here is a side view of the card so you can see the shaker casing where all the beads and some punched flowers are hanging out. Too bad you can't really see the flowers, but they are there. The other thing I'm bummed about was that you can't see her red shoes. hahaha.. I know it's always the little things that get lost in the moment.
BTW, sorry if the quality of the picture isn't so good, I couldn't find my camera so had to resort to using my cell phone. It's actually not that bad. hahaha! Well hope you get a chance to play along with this week's fun challenge. Remember all the details can be found on the CA&F blog post here. Mahalo for stopping by! Have a wonderful Wednesday!!
