Y&FH Challenge #19 - Color Challenge

Today we're starting a new bi-weekly challenge and it should be another fun and easy one.

CHALLENGE #19 - COLOR CHALLENGE:
RED, WHITE, BLUE & KRAFT
Create a CARD using a the colors red, white blue & kraft.
June 23 - July 5
Ends: Noon (pst)

It's a color challenge and the colors are ones that shouldn't give you any trouble.  Create a card using red, white, blue & kraft in your color scheme.  With the American holiday of July 4th aka Fourth of July coming up real soon I'm sure it will be super easy for you to come up with something.  It can be any shade of the colors listed as long as they are all accounted for and on your project.  Make sure that you stop by the Y&FH blog for all the details as well as Rosie's blog to see her awesome project.

Before I share my card I'd like to remind everyone about our rules.  They are super simple and easy to follow.  Before you decide to link up I highly suggest you click on the challenge info tab located at the top of the Y&FH blog page.  After you read the rules you'll know whether your card qualifies or not.  Unfortuantely if it DOES NOT it will be removed from Inlinkz.

The winner will receive a $15 gift certificate and our Top 3 will receive a 10% discount code to be used in the Yumi & Fumi online store.

I've got a card that is not necessarily for the July 4th holiday, but more of a general card that can be used for anything.  I actually made this for my cousin who hasn't been feeling well, I hope with the image on the front of the card (the real life Chuckles is her nephew) will put a smile on her face and make her feel tons better...
Created by Leanne featuring Chuckles with Gecko:

CAS is my name now-a-days and it seems like so is red! hahaha...  Actually I am really loving that I've been using colors other than, white, black or dark brown as a card base.  The blues on the card aren't so dark but they do give off a really nice hue.  I used another embossing folder and yes the ink on the inside of the folder technique.  Made a window at the top with several layers and on top the image of Chuckles w his little gecko friend.   Towards the bottom I stamped the sentiment and then used red embossing powder to heat set it.  Nice and shiney!  The little bit of white doodling on the bottom sorta breaks up the panel.  I really didn't want to do too much more to it.

Hope you get a chance to play with us this week.  Remember the winner will receive a gift certificate for $15 and the top 3 will get a 10% discount on their shopping cart to the Y&FH online store.

Mahalo for stopping by today.  I really appreciate all the wonderful comments and suggestions/requests for some tutorials.  I will try my best to get something up for the ones I have received and hope to get them up real soon.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and hope you get some time in to craft.  Bye!

Hugs,
Leanne

Y&FH CH 18 ~ A time to celebrate!

Hello!

Hope everyone is doing well.  So who's an NBA basketball fan?  Are you enjoying the battle between two great basketball teams?  I am!  Tonight is game 7 and it should be as awesome as the whole series has been.  Talk about stepping up and falling short!  I'm not a fan of either team, but I'm rooting for one and hopefully they'll pull it out.  Either way it's been fun to watch the drama unfold.

I'm back today to share a reminder that tomorrow is the last day to link up to the Yumi & Fumi Handmade challenge happening right now.  Here's a reminder of the details:
Challenge #18 - Time to Celebrate
Create a celebratory card for any occasion.

Today I'm sharing my card featuring Fumi with Turtle from the Peek-a-Book Spring series.  You can purchase her in our online store along with any of our stamp series.  (We also carry the Sister Stamps line and we have all the new stamps in the store.)

I had a little bit of fun with some cute bright papers, the color red and a CAS layout.

When making this card I was going for something that could be used for almost any celebration.  I used red as my base color and chose papers that had a touch of red and a little bit of other colors.  The paper was key to this one.  Fun colorful banners and hearts paired up with the colorful polka dots really helped here.  By using the bright fun cardstock, sentiment banner and the word "celebrate" helped to achieve my goal.  It doesn't hurt to have an adorable image either. :)

Don't forget the challenge ends tomorrow at noon, pst.  The winner will receive a $15 gift certificate and the Top 3 will receive a 10% discount on their shopping cart to our online store.  Either would come in handy since we've got some new stamps in.

If you're unsure if your card qualifies just click on the tab at the top labeled Challenge Info on the Y&FH page and you can verify it.  We would rather you be sure before linking up instead of sad that your card had to be deleted because it doesn't follow our rules.

Mahalo for stopping by today.

I hope I was able to inspire you with something fun.

Have a great day!!

~ Leanne

You color my world Friend

Howdy!

Congrats to Danielle Bradbury for winning the Voice!  She's AWEmazing as were all the finalists.  That's another win for Team Blake! Yay!!  So sad that we'll have to wait for the next season.  Going to miss Usher and Shakira.  But glad they'll be back the following season.  Looking forward to picking up new music from this years group, everyone was pretty terrific.  This show is truly one of my favorites, not only does it have amazing talent, but it has both drama, comedy and heart.

I'm popping in to share a card I just finished this morning!  I started on it last night with the coloring of my image and this morning finished putting it together as soon as the rest of it came to me.  Do you ever have that problem when you're just stuck on what you want to make so you start off coloring and even though you pull things together it just doesn't "click" yet once you step away from it, or in my case, slept on it the whole idea just comes quik? What's up with that?! hahaha  Please tell me I'm not the only one that happens to?

Anyhoos, here's my card featuring one of the newest Sister Stamp mermaids, Eliana.  So happy that SS is branching out a little bit with not only the Zodiac images but also these adorable mermaids to add to the already wonderful collection of Asian inspired kids.  You can purchase any of the Sister Stamps in the Yumi & Fumi Handmade store here.  Here's Eliana with her little friend, Coral, letting her know that she colors her world with her friendship.  :)

I used the distress ink inside the embossing folder technique, and in this case several distress ink colors.  (Yep my go-to thing right now)  Once I embossed the panel I went over it on top with the same colors to make the raised parts stand out.  I added those bubble stickers for fun. I stamped Eliana on Copic Xpress It white card and colored her with Copics.  I had a bit of fun with the colors and tried that dot-dot-dot-blend-blend-blend Eva was talking about.  It was fun and as you can see it didn't turn out too bad.  I also went with a fun colored hair color, hey why not?!  The other thing I did that was a lot different is that I dotted the left side of her body including her face, neck and left arm with some blues and greens and on top of that added sparkle.  I pictured it as her make-up or part of who she is.  All things are different under the sea.  Her little friend Coral is also colored similarly including the sparkle on her face.  Kindred spirits.  No she does not come with Eliana, she's actually from a totally different stamp set yet they totally fit together.

You can't really see any of the sparkle in the first picture so I took another picture.

Lots of sparkle going on here, but I think it adds a little happy to the card.  (lol)  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches and was perfect for my card.  Since the panel had so much color to it I used a black card to mount it to.  If you look close at her flower in her hair you'll see I added some small microbeads. All I did was used a dot and pressed the beads to the top.  (See below for details)

Well that's all I have today.  I'm looking forward to working on another new image and hopefully will have something to share soon.  Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs,
Leanne

A Happy Father's Day card

Hello!

Hoping all the father's and father figures had a great day yesterday.  We took my dad to dinner, he doesn't like any kind of fuss over him, if anything he would have rather stayed at home, but we convinced him to go to his favorite Japanese restaurant and he agreed.  Still grumbled but we still got to go. (haha)

Here's is the card I made for him featuring Tiki from the Tiki Surf set (Hang Loose series) from Y&FH.

That paper was purchased by my mom on her last trip to Hawaii.  I asked her to bring some home for me and she picked up a few different kinds.  Now I normally would never buy something like this, but I'm glad I had it, it really did come in handy.  Especially for this card.  After gluing down the patterned paper to the dark brown cardstock I used a Spellbinder square to cut the window.  Colored up Tiki and added that coconut leaf hat for fun.  (To create the hat I drew it and then drew in the lines. Colored used a dark green and a medium colored green and a gray.  After cutting the top part I made sure to randomly cut the brim raggedly.  I'll try to make a tutorial for next time.  This one was left over from the first time I tried it here.)  The background is kraft cardstock and embossed with a retro diamond folder (Lifestyle Crafts), Distress ink scattered straw and walnut stain)  I used an AmyR sentiment stamp (Happy Father's Day) inking it with white pigment ink and embossing it with clear embossing powder.

Hope you have a terrific Monday and if you haven't already picked up any of the new stamps here's the link to the website.  Mahalo for stopping by!

Hugs,
Leanne

Y&FH Hang Loose Release Day!!

Morning everyone!
I'm sooo running behind on this post and I hope you'll bear with me while I get organized! haha!
So what did y'all think of the week of previews for the Hang Loose series?  Would love to hear your feedback.  I'm actually pretty excited about it all especially excited about the new stamp sets.  So here's a recap of the new series:

The stamps are now available for purchase in the Yumi & Fumi Handmade store.  Click HERE for a direct link to the store.  If you haven't been by the Y&FH blog make sure you head on over there. The DT went all out for today's release and they are sharing some pretty incredible projects.  Click HERE to jump to the blog and make sure to leave some love on each of their blogs.  Click on their names and you'll be directly linked to their posts.

Today's card is a little interactive one.  Featuring all the stamps from the Aloha Honu set, here's my little scene I created:

Papers are from the Echo Park Splash paper pad.  I mounted it onto the large circle cardstock. Added the white punched clouds (Fiskars punch)  and created this underwater scene.  The lotus flowers are scattered around the bottom of the ocean.  Now how about a little fun with the honu?

I remember Eva made a similar card and as soon as I find the link to it I'll link up.  Used some twine and a couple beads on Honu #1 so she'd slide a lot faster. Honu #2 is raised on pop dots, that's why honu #1 can go past her with ease.  Well I hope you're all just as excited about the new release and can't wait to purchase the stamps to start creating.  Share with us on Pinterest, Facebook or here on the blog.

If you'd like a chance to win any of the stamps you have until tomorrow to link up.  For all the details pop on over to the blog and scroll down to the end of each day's post to link up.  Thanks!

Well my friends, mahalo for stopping by the past week and leaving your lovely comments.  As you know or don't know they are really appreciated.  Happy Release day!!

Hugs,
Leanne

Y&FH - Hang Loose Preview - Aloha Honu Set

Happy Aloha Friday everyone & Happy Flag Day!!

Today is the last day of previews for the new Hang Loose series.  We hope you've enjoyed them as much as we've enjoyed sharing them with you.  For our last preview showcase I am going to share our beautiful Aloha Honu set.  If you are unfamiliar with the term honu, it is the Hawaiian word for turtle.  When I think of Hawaii I think not only of good food, beautiful people, breathtaking beaches, but I also think of cute sea turtles.  We asked our awesome illustrator to create some beautiful honu for this release and she did not disappoint. This set includes 5 stamps.  Two beautiful sea honu, one sentiment and two lotus flowers (designed by our very own Renate' Winter).  We know that most of you will have so much fun with this set, just as we all have.

As with the Tiki set, these are another set of stamps that are not scroll-cut or indexed as our usual stamps are, however they are still of the best quality, you will just have to work a little bit harder to stamp with them.

Well what do you think?  I have a feeling this is going to be a fun set of stamps to play with.  Make sure to head over to the Y&FH blog because Eva & Denice have two beautiful cards to share creeated just for today's preview, as you scroll through think of the Little Mermaid song, "Under the Sea" because that is truly what some of the cards can be described as, well besided gorgeous!!
Not sure if any of you know, but I really like turtles.  So this set of stamps had me over the moon!!  For my first card I used a combination of Honu #1 (she's the pretty one) and the Aloha sentiment:

This is all Copic coloring!  I saw this awesome tutorial on the Created from Color blog for underwater coloring.  Thanks for sharing Melissa!!  I'm sure there are others out there, but this is one that I remembered and actually enjoyed.  I followed this one by ArtByKarenEHaley for those shimmery water scenes.  I had a lot of fun with this one.  Used the wonky reverse rectangles for this card and that beautiful ribbon was from my stash.  Yay, I finally got to use it.  The blue looking coral/seaweed are Spellbinder dies; lastly I embossed the blue cardstock.  This was fun to make.
For my second card I made a washi tape shaker card with Honu #2 (she's the sassy looking one) and the Lotus flowers:

Ok, so I have to give props to myself.  I absolutely LOVE how this one turned out!!!  I actually think I might frame it! hahaha!!  I really seriously love this.  I used the same underwater coloring technique as above.  The shiney part was part of the picture and it creates this awesome back light as if it I truly took an under the water scene up to the sky. Sorry I'm just a little bit giddy about this one. hehehe...  I used another embossing folder for this one and lightly dusted some blue ink over it.  Used blue green microbeads and sequins for the inside.  They make a really nice sound when you shake it.  The lotus flowers are on the bottom right corner.  I added some microbeads of the same color to the glue dot on the center flower.  And not sure if you can see them, but I added epoxy circle bubbles in marine on the outside of the scene to mimic underwater bubbles.
And there you have it!  Don'tcha just love this stamp set?  We thought these were the perfect ending to a week long preview.  We hope you've enjoyed our showcase.
If you'd like to win this stamp set head on over to the Y&FH blog to find out how.
Mahalo for stopping by and don't forget release day is tomorrow that means the stamps will be in the store!!

Until then... Aloooohaaa!!

Y&FH Hang Loose Release ~ Tiki Surf Stamp Set

Aloha everyone!

Welcome to day 4 of previews for our Hang Loose stamps release.

In a few days you will be able to purchase all of the stamps and get started on some cool summer fun cards and projects.

All the stamps will be available on Saturday, June 15th in our online store.

Today I will be showcasing something brand new to Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  We've added sets of stamps that can be used as accessories or on their own to our collection.  Each set is made of deeply etched red rubber on to cling mount for nice even stamping and ALL made in the USA.  The only difference with these stamps are that they will not be scroll cut or indexed as our other stamps are, but the quality of the stamp is still the same.

For this release we have two sets with multiple images, I'll share the second one tomorrow, but for today I will be sharing samples from our TIKI SURF set.  In keeping with our Hang Loose theme we decided to go with some all time favorite "icons" that tie in to the whole Hang Loose theme.  Illustrated by our amazing artist, included in this set are 2 surfboards (a long and short board), a tiki, a honu ohana that can be used as a border or on its own,  two Hang Loose symbols and 3 sentiments.

This set is perfect for the consummate surfer or water sport fan, but can also be used for any fun occasion and of course go really well with any of the other stamps.  Here are just a few of the different projects created with this set:

You definitely must stop by Eva's blog to see the awemazing tag she created with Tiki. It's soo cool, her tiki looks awesome!  Here's a look at my Tiki card that was not shared on the Y&FH blog today.  Having one tiki spotlighted was enough. haha...  Are ya all getting tired of my using the embossing folders?  Well sorry, it seems to be my go to, especially because I have tons of them.  I'm just so happy that I get to use them a lot more.  hmmm... might be time to be getting rid of some paper.. Eek!

Ta-da!  I really love how this one turned out.  The embossing folder is one of my favorites especially when it comes to doing CAS.
I've got quite a few cards to share today hope you can stay and go through them all.  Next up are the Long & Short boards, and the Sweet Ride sentiment:

Here's one with the Petroglyph honu, where I used another embossing folder:

Last up is this 4x4 card featuring the larger sized Hang Loose icon with a cool surprise:

Click on the video to see the surprise:

Hehehe pretty cool yea?  After coloring up the image and using Distress Inks to give it that cool yellow border I popped it on to the black cs that was die cut with a Spellbinder stamp die and then I popped that onto a wobbly wobble thingy.  I gave this card to my brother for his birthday and he had a nice laugh about it.

Stop by the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog to see how you can win the Tiki Surf set.  And if you didn't link up for the past 3 days for a chance to win Summer Yumi, Summer Fumi or Summer Chuckles do so now.  You have until Sunday, June 16th at 10am but better to do it now than later, you might forget!  (haha)  Ok, thanks so much for stopping by today!  Tomorrow is the last day of previews and we'll be showcasing the second stamp set which I'm bet you'll all love.
Until then have an awesome Thursday!!

Besides Summer Chuckles I also used two sentiments from a set we'll be previewing tomorrow.  Here's a close up of Summer Chuckles:

I think he's really cool.  I made a quick second card and had a little bit of fun with Chuckles.

(Also pictured here is the word shaka which will be showcased tomorrow)  He's wearing my version of a coconut leaf hat made out of paper and markers.  (haha)  It's supposed to be a woven hat made out of coconut leaves. My cousin would make these kinds of hats for us and they were soo cool with their big leaves and intricate weaving patterns.  Here's a picture of some real life ones:

Pretty cool yea?  And they kept the sun out of your face just as well if not better than a baseball cap.  Here's a close-up of Summer Chuckles:

I could actually picture Chuckles wearing a hat similar to this one.  hehehe.  This card is actually a gift certificate or money holder.  Here's a quick pic of the inside with a sentiment from AmyR.

Stop by the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog to see how you can win Summer Chuckles.  And if you didn't link up for the past two days for a chance to win Summer Yumi or Summer Fumi do so now.  You have until Sunday, June 16th at 10am but better to do it now than later, you might forget!  (haha)  Ok, thanks so much for stopping by today!  Tomorrow is day 4 of previews and we'll be showcasing some more cool stuff for the summer.  Until then have a terrific day!!

Y&FH Hang Loose Previews ~ Summer Fumi

SALE ALERT! In honor of Father's Day all Yumi & Fumi Handmade guy stamps are now on sale until Father's day! Head on over to the Y&FH online store and pick up a few.  *Sister Stamps are not part of this sale.

Aloha and welcome to day two of previews at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  Make sure to stop back each day this week to see the previews and on Saturday you'll be able to purchase the whole release.  We're excited to share this release with you and we hope you enjoy it.  Today we're spotlighting Summer Yumi's friend, Summer Fumi.  Today Eva, Sandie and I have cards to share so be sure to stop by Eva's blog and Sandie's blog then head on over to the Y&FH blog where you'll find out how you might be able to pick up this stamp.  Here's my card using the ink in the embossing folder technique.

Summer Fumi reminds me of my little cousin.  Always smiling and flashing the shaka sign.  She looks like a little hapa girl here.  I love her!  I decided to go with another CAS card and used a few distress ink pads and inked up the negative side of the embossing folder.  I ran the folder, with the paper, through my Cuttlebug and got that impression.  Next I went over the raised side with brown ink so that only the flowers were inked.  It looks like patterned paper yea?  It's not, just some white cardstock, an embossing folder and some inks.  Love how this turned out and definitely plan to do the same with other colors. The sentiment is a laser cut one from Island Scrapbooking and I was a lucky recipient of it from a cool RAK, thanks Jenny!  I colored the sentiment with Copics and thought it looked cool, almost like koa wood.

Stop by the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog to see how you can win Summer Fumi.  And if you didn't link up yesterday for a chance to win Summer Yumi do so now.  You have until Sunday, June 16th at 10am but better to do it now than later, you might forget!  (haha)  Ok, thanks so much for stopping by today!  Tomorrow is day 3 of previews and should be a fun one.  Until then have a terrific day!!

Y&FH Hang Loose Preview ~ Summer Yumi

SALE ALERT! In honor of Father's Day all Yumi & Fumi Handmade guy stamps are now on sale until Father's day! Head on over to the Y&FH online store and pick up a few.

Aloha and welcome to the first day of previews at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  Make sure to stop back each day this week to see the previews and on Saturday you'll be able to purchase the whole release.  We're excited to share this release with you and we hope you enjoy it.  First up today is Summer Yumi.  Both Eva and I have cards to share so be sure to stop by Eva's blog and then head on over to the Y&FH blog where you'll find out how you might be able to pick up this stamp.

Chee Huuu!!!  Here she is wishing everyone Aloha!  Waving her shaka sign to all of you and hoping you enjoy today's release.  I love her pigtails and her outfit but most of all I love how beautiful her smile is!!  My card is pretty CAS.  I embossed the white cardstock with a folder from Crafter's Companion and scattered sequins here and there.  I used a strip of patterned paper from Kaiser Craft's Seaside collection to break up the whiteness of the card and added that pretty fuschia ribbon as an accent.  This paper pad is going to get a lot of action for this release.  (lol)  The sentiment is part of a Cuttlebug die set.  After coloring up Summer Yumi I fussy cut her out and popped her on to the card with some dimensional squares.  Finished her off with a punched flower in her hair.

Ok, don't forget to head on over to the Y&FH blog for more details on how you could win Summer Yumi.  Hope to see you back tomorrow for day 2 of our Hang Loose release. :)

Mahalo for stopping by!

Y&FH Challenge #18 ~ Time to Celebrate!

Hello!

Before I start I wanted to wish my big brother a Happy Birthday!!  We celebrated his birthday yesterday and today he's probably getting ready to go out on the golf course later today. :)

Today starts a new challenge at Yumi & Fumi Handmade and we want you to create a card with this theme:

Time to Celebrate!!

This is a great time to create a card for any celebration.  There are tons of graduates out there, people getting married, babies being born, and there are people celebrating anniversaries.  Head on over to Rosie's blog to see her really cool card featuring Chuckles with Gecko.  It's soo cute!  For my card I went CAS again... You can never have too many cards like this.  I grabbed Chase and decided to make a card that a husband could give to his wife on their anniversary or a groom could give to his wife-to-be...

Here he is looking rico-suave.  (hahaha)  I used paper from GCD and Spellbinders.  I handwrote the sentiment with a white gel pen.  Distress inked the frame and colored with a few Copics.  Keeping this one handy just in case... Ya never know I might start a trend..  lol... if only!

Okie dokes, head on over to the Y&FH blog to see the details for this bi-weekly challenge.  Don't forget to brush up on our rules in case you want to play.  They are super easy to follow so before you link up please read.  Thanks so much for stopping by!!  Have a great Sunday and don't forget to come back for our previews for the new release, starts tomorrow.

Hugs,
Leanne
