Y&FH Challenge #13

Happy Easter Sunday my friends!
Hoping you all have a wonderful day with your family and if that also includes spending time with friends too that sounds wonderful.  I'm planning to head to Hollywood & Highland today to go watch Oz with a bunch of friends.  Should be fun, hope the movie is good.  So far I've heard good things, so I'm very optimistic.

Today also starts a new challenge over at Yumi & Fumi HandmadeRosemary and I are sharing our projects on the blog so make sure you hop on over there after you finish here.  For the next two weeks we would like you to case this beautiful project created by our friend and DT mate, Eva.

Isn't it gorgeous?  She used Fumi with Gift from the Kimono series.  This easel card/memo holder is totally awesome.  Now to play all you have to do is case Eva's project.  Create just the card or go all out and make an easel/memo holder, be creative and have fun.  I hadn't made an easel card/memo holder in ages so I thought I'd give it a go.  I had a lot of trouble at first, but it all came together in the end.  As long as you don't see the back it's all good.  {lol}

I inked up the adorable Yumi with Bookbag for this project.  She's been quite neglected so I wanted to make sure she got some attention.  The paper I used is from Basic Grey and it's matted on to two different colored cardstock by Bazzil.  I found those cool Scrabble looking pieces at Joann's in the clearance section. The flowers under Yumi's feet is actually a long sticker from Martha Stewart Crafts.  Actually fit in nicely on the bottom.  Added some black butterflies punched out with my Martha Stewart punch and last is the Hello Kitty post it.  How about a peek at the prize package?

All this could be yours, all you have to do is link up your project and you're in the drawing.  Don't forget, if you use a Yumi & Fumi Handmade image on your project you get two chances to win.  Challenge ends on Friday, April 12, noon pst.  Looking forward to seeing what you create.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  If you have some time in the next two weeks to join the challenge that would be super!  Happy Easter Sunday everyone!!

Hugs,
Leanne

Y&FH Challenge #12 Reminder

Hello!!!

Wow it's been so long since I've been here!!  How's everyone doing?  As you can tell my mojo has been hibernating and it's been hard to get crafty lately.  Hoping with the forecast which calls for sunny and bright, that things will pick up.  I have been working on something for my cousin which has my attention and we're planning some fun/cool things at Yumi and Fumi Handmade.  More details soon. (wink, wink)

But today I have a card!  Yay!!  It corresponds with the current challenge at Yumi and Fumi Handmade.  The theme is Springtime and for the past week the rest of the team has shared their beautiful spring creations.  I just love this team!  Today Sandie & I are sharing our springtime cards.  Stop by the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog for details and then hop on over to Sandie's blog to see the details of her beautiful card.  She's got the greenest thumb I've ever seen!  Wish I had me one of those.  LOL!!

Here's Fumi with Bear Backpack on my CAS, with no patterned paper themed card!  Yep I said no patterned paper.  {LOL}  I know there are sooo many pretty papers that I could have used, but I wanted to show off three of my newest purchases.  The first is the floral embossing folder from Crafter's Companion which I got at CHA, the second is the Circle Picot Spellbinder (that I have been wanting for like EVER) and the last is the new Evergreen Distress ink I used to create the soft affect inside the circle.  (I bought it after watching Tim Holtz demo it at the last Carson Rubber Stamp Show).  Did you know that there are not going to be anymore limited edition Distress Inks?  I heard it straight from him.  That means they will all be available all year long!  Yep if Tim says it, it's the TRUTH!  (LOL)

Anyhoos, getting back to my card...

I used two shimmery blue and green pieces of cardstock from Bazzil and matted them together first, then ran them through the embossing folder with my trusty Cuttlebug.  The embossing folder is 6x6 and it fits perfectly through the Cuttlebug.  The impression is gorgeous and unfortunately I hid a lot of the details, but I think you can still see it and appreciate it.  I used a lighter orange Bazzil cardstock called Spoiled Brat (I kid you NOT!) to cut out the biggest Picot circle and then added my slightly distressed image on top.  It looked a bit too plain for a springtime card so I grabbed my sorely neglected flower and sun punches and made some daisies or plumerias (depending on how you look at them) and scattered them around.  One of them happened to land in Fumi's hair and I thought wow looks perfect!

Ok, time to share the prize up for grabs:

You've got until Friday, March 29th, (noon pst) to link up your card/project using Inlinks.  We'll announce the winner on Saturday.  Click HERE to see all the details and to link up your card.  **Remember to follow the challenge rules or else you will not be considered for the prize.  Looking forward to seeing more creations flood our site.

Well friends, thanks so much for stopping by today.  I'm slowly getting around to visiting your blogs, but boy do I have a lot of catching up to do.  Please don't be too upset if I can't get to all of them.

Take care!!
Hugs,
Leanne

AJ the Lion

Hello!

I've got a card to share and it coincides with the current Yumi and Fumi Handmade challenge.  Click HERE and you will be directly linked to the challenge and all the details.  Hope you can come and play.  The challenge ends on Friday, March 15th at noon, pst.   The prize is amazing and I'll share it later in my post.

For today I have a CAS card featuring AJ the Lion from the Kigurumi series.

I need more boy cards with a birthday theme and he definitely qualifies.  Instead of using the sketch the way it was intended I decided to turn it on it's side.  All the elements are still there and that's how I interpreted the sketch this time.  The colors are nice and fresh in my opinion.  The patterned paper is from MME, and the rest is from Neenah and Recollections.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.  I had fun adding googly eyes to the lion suit, and lastly I added that paper star.  How about a reminder on what the prize up for grabs is:

I have to say this prize package is jam-packed with lots of fun goodies including Fumi with Bear Backpack.

Hope to see more of you playing in this fun sketch challenge.  Until next time, thanks for stopping in!!  Have a terrific day!!

Hugs,
Leanne

DTT - Anya styles in blues & browns

Hi!
Boy, what a week it turned out to be!  Seriously wanted to keep my blog up to date, but posting daily just didn't work out.  It all started on Wednesday night.  I received a last minute invitation to go to a fundraiser/performance show at Disney's California Adventure to see a production of 4 musicals performed by cast members from both Disneyland and California Adventure.  Each team has been practicing their parts for the past 8 weeks and Wednesday was the first night of all their hard work.  It was a great show, the teams were amazing and the energy in the house was electric!!  And in the end a lot of funds were raised for the Boys & Girls Club of Orange County.  It was fun but I got home super super late, and since then I've been dragging!  So no crafting or coloring for a day or two.

Last night I had some energy and was excited to color up one of the newest Big Anya from The Greeting Farm, Anya Styles.  Well she's new in my book.  LOL!!  Boy am I behind!  Oh my, she was sooooo fun to color!!  I had a blast with every part of the coloring, but I think I love the hair the most.  Here's a close up of the hair.

I think it has a little motion going on and love how I defined the levels of her hair.  I do see a few mistakes, but I'm not ashamed to be tootin' my own horn, hehe.  I chose the colors based on the current Double Take Tuesday Blues & Browns challenge at TGF and kept my card CAS.

I used a lot of Distress Ink in Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo to distress the main image edges, the dp and the doily.  The sentiment is by Paper Smooches and I handwrote part of it.  I finished by adding some brown half pearls, and the pretty royal blue ribbon to match her top and purse.  Definitely wanted the image to be the main focus.  This card belongs to my co-worker who's birthday  is next week.  I hope she likes it.

If you live in the LA area and don't have anything to do this weekend and want to pick up some crafty stuff, stop by the Carson Rubber Stamp Convention in Carson, CA.  My friend Kathy, formerly of Pixie Boutique, will be selling TGF and Yumi & Fumi Handmade stamps and our friend, Jenny is going to be selling her jewelry again.  Kathy's new booth is under the Craft-A-Holic banner.  Stop by and say hi, do a make n' take and buy some stamps.  I might be there helping out or walking around the show looking for more crafty stuff to add to my overgrown pile already.  You might definitely find me loitering at the Hanko Designs booth bugging Lori and Norm.  Can't wait to get my hands on some new washi paper and cardstock.  Drool!! (lol)

Okie dokes, have a great Saturday and don't forget about the sketch challenge happening at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  Click on the sketch at the top of my blog on the right side bar for more details.  Mahalo for stopping by!!

Hugs,
Leanne

LAISA

Hello!

Thanks for stopping by today.  I had a friend at work who commissioned me to create a set of letters for one of her friends who was having a baby shower.  She asked for the name LAISA (pronounced Lah-ee-sah), Hello Kitty and the colors pink and green.  Here was my photo inspiration:

Here's what I came up with (apologies in advance for the bad photos, I took them at work):

Here are close-ups of the letters (thank goodness these were a lot clearer):

I used 3 different types of embossing folders, 5 different types of cardstock, including two different patterned papers.  I used an old Sizzix die to create the Hello Kitties.  The wood chip butterflies are from Recollections.  The letters themselves were purchased from Michaels.  I used Mod Podge to glue and seal the paper to the wood and then used a Glossy sealant spray to give it a nice shine.  The ribbons and butterflies were then glued on last.  It's been while since I attempted one of these and I"m proud to say it only took me a couple hours to put together and longer to dry.  The best thing about the whole process was when I showed it to my friend, she said, "It turned out just how I pictured it would!"  I was over the moon!  Love it when a customer is happy with the results.  I have another set of letters that I need to work on, but the name isn't as short, I guess that's why it's taking me so long to finish.  Oy vay!

Thank you for stopping by!  Hope you have a terrific day and I might have something to share again tomorrow.  Not sure yet.  lol!

Hugs,
Leanne

BFFs ~ Friendship

Morning!

Today's card features some little girls I haven't inked up in quite some time.  The BFF's from Sister Stamps.  This duo can be purchased in the Yumi & Fumi Handmade shop along with a ton of other Sister Stamps including the new releases.

I decided to use the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge over at Designed to Color to narrow down the criteria.  This time I chose the middle/across line which is Ribbon, Banner & Yellow:

Here's my card:

Used the reverse wonky Spellbinder dies for the inside and mat.  The yellowish-gold washi paper and the daisy white cardstock are all from Hanko Designs.  The ribbon/seam binding I believe I got at the Anaheim Expo a year or two ago.  The sentiment was stamped again from Stampworks says Friendship in kanji and I manually cut it in to a banner, then distressed inked it.  The girls are colored with Copics and I had fun making the little sakuras on their kimonos.  I will list all the markers below.

Thank you for stopping by today!  Tomorrow I might have something else, but you'll just have to stop by and see.  Have a lovely day everyone!!

Hugs,
Leanne

DTC Birthday Bash - Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge

Hey everyone!!

Scroll down to see my post for challenge #11 at Yumi and Fumi Handmade.

I'm poppin' in to share a card I made for the crafty challenge at Designed to Color.  They turned 1 and are having a huge birthday bash that started on Friday with this fun challenge, Tic-Tac-Toe:

So the rules are simple you have to pick 3 squares that either go across or backwards, up or down or diagonal.  You must pick three connecting squares to make tic-tac-toe or be adventurous and do a blackout card.  I wasn't feelin' adventurous so chose the left outside squares which consist of purple, ribbon and bling and came up with this card featuring Fumi with Gift from Yumi & Fumi Handmade:

The beautiful washi paper is from Hanko Designs and I paired them with a dark purple and a lighter purple colored cardstock from Recollections.  The sentiment stamp from Stamp Works says Congratulations in Kanji and I thought it was an appropriate one for the celebration.  I used a pretty lavendar ribbon made by Offray and the beautiful vintage acrylic flowers are from Martha Stewart.  They were originally white, but I used Copic BV11 to give them more of a light purple tone.  You can't see them but the petals sparkle and there is a nice shiney gem in the center.  Love these pretty flowers.

Hope you got a chance to play along because the prize is a pretty awesome one!
From Yumi & Fumi Handmade:  a pick of any 4 Yumi and Fumi Handmade stamps and from Designed to Color a free digital copy of the Jan/Feb/March 2013 and your choice of a print copy from either June/July, August/September or November/Dec.  How can you not want to play?!!  To enter link up at the Designed to Color blog.  Good luck!!

Before I sign off wanted to wish you all a Happy Girl's Day!!  This gorgeous e-card was created by my partner in craft, Renate' and it features all the Kimono series Yumi and Fumi girls.  Isn't it KAWAII?!!

Thank you for stopping by today and if you were here twice in one day you have my utmost appreciation!!  Have a fabulous evening and if you have time to stop by tomorrow I might actually have something else posted.  hehehe..  Take care!!
Hugs,
Leanne

Y&FH Challenge #11

Happy Sunday everyone!!

We have a new challenge up on the Yumi and Fumi Handmade blog today.  It's a wonderful sketch created by Kim Yu

Pretty yea?!  Love all the different elements going on here and all the different ideas that go through my head.  Make sure to stop by Rosemary's blog today as she's also sharing her project using the sketch.  Here's what I came up with...

Definitely opposite of the sketch but all the elements are there.  This is Chasezilla from the Kigurumi Kids series.  He's so cute and pretty versatile.  I chose the papers, from My Minds Eye and then colored him up to match.  The sentiment was handwritten and I had a lot of fun creating the star badge.  Used Spellbinders, a circle & star punches.  Instead of real stitching I created fake stitching with a blue pen.  Want to see the prize package we've come up with for the winner?

Pretty nice yea?  Our resident bunny thinks so.  hehehe...   Feel free to share the badge on your blog with a link back to the Yumi & Fumi Handmade challenge post so everyone knows you're playing with us and maybe they'll follow you too.  The challenge ends on Friday, March 15th at noon pst.

Alrighty friends, hope to see you playing with us and if you'd like to visit us on Facebook or Pinterest head on over to the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog where you will find links to both of our pages.  Before I sign off, have you been by the Designed to Color blog this weekend?  They are celebrating their 1 year anniversary with an awesome celebration.  Their first crafty challenge is being sponsored by Yumi & Fumi Handmade, so please check it out to get all the details on how you can possibly win 4 stamps of your choice.  There are also other amazing prizes being given away by other Crafty/Stamp companies that you don't want to miss.  Click HERE to head on over.

Mahalo for stopping by!  I hope to see you all playing along and spreading some Yumi & Fumi love.
Hugs,
Leanne
