UNUSUAL COLORED CHRISTMAS

**Create a Christmas card or project using non-traditional Christmas colors (Red & Green)

Kitty Bee Christmas tags

They are Christmas tags colored using non-traditional colors.  Featuring some of the adorable Kitty Bee Design images, including some of the new images, you can find in the Etsy store.  I got these as digital images and shrunk them all down to fit on to a sheet of cardstock.  I colored each one with Copics, some you'll see with traditional colors, but then I added a non-traditional color to match the challenge guidelines.

FYI, I used 2 Copic markers and a white gel pen to create the Santa hat on the panda above.

You'll probably see a few non-Christmassy images, thought I would add them for fun.  I learned that if you have the right sentiment, it doesn't matter if your image does not match, it's all in the presentation.  That also includes the color scheme.  hahaha!

These already have a home as I sent them as part of our 1st annual KBD DT swap to my swap partner, Michelle Nutter from Just a Nutter Stamper.

My KBD DT Swap card

Hello!!

Today I'm back to share the card I sent to my swap partner, Michelle Nutter.  I decided to turn it in to a tutorial so this post will be choke full of pictures with some details.  So first I should share the card right?!  Okie dokes, here it is...

I wanted to create a card that was different than my usual.  I remembered a conversation Zoe, Make It Crafty owner, started in the MIC FB group regarding selective embossing.  Meaning emboss around the image without embossing it.   Does that make sense?  Well that's what I did with this card.  Yes, that white panel on the front is all one layer!!   I found this great video tutorial HERE which gives you the run down on how it all comes together along with some options on diffusers.  You can either purchase the TH diffusers or make your own.  Check out the video if my pictures below don't inspire you. (haha, don't worry I won't be offended, hahaha!)  I decided to make my own diffuser since I already had the chipboard and wanted to keep this as cost effective as possible. (Yes I was being cheap!! hahaha!!)

Here goes the tutorial:

Print/stamp your image(s).  Give yourself enough room to die cut and emboss around the image(s)

Santa Christmas Penguin & Hollie Christmas Penguin

Trim chipboard to same size as your printed image and use die to cut out your desired shape, thus creating a window.  You want to either make the diffuser bigger than the paper or else you'll emboss something that you might not have wanted to. 

Grab your embossing folder and put the stamped image inside.  Using washi tape adhere the chipboard over the image, keep the image as close to the center of the "window" as possible.

Create your sandwich for your embossing, die-cutting machine.  Here I used A & C and a few shims.  It worked out pretty well.  You'll have to experiment on this part, it varies on how deep you want the embossed part to look.

The end result... So cool!

Here's what I did for the rest of the sheet.  Used DI Spun Sugar, Milled Lavendar and Tumbled Glass. I also grabbed the cut out chipboard and placed it over my image to make sure I did not get any color on it.

Subtlety adding color using the sponge tool and circular strokes I went around the embossed area with each color making sure to space each color out.  With 1 color (Tumbled glass)

Here it is with all three colors...  Once you are satisfied with the inking you can remove the chipboard mask.

Here is the end result...   I forgot to take a picture of the die cut panel, but you get the gist of it right? Just check out the card at the top of this post to see what I mean.

I added that Season's Greetings laser cut sentiment from Island Scrapbooking which matched this card perfectly.  I also cut up some snowflakes using the CC Cutters from CC Designs.

Using a pink based card I matted a purple patterned paper and added some faux stitches with a white gel pen.  Oh and I also added some of those floral looking sequins.  I absolutely love how this turned out and I am so happy that Michelle did as well.  (Whew! Yay! hahaha)

Stamp camp card swap

Hello everyone!

Today I wanted to catch up on some swaps with the stamp camp ladies.  We got together on a Saturday and spent part of the day shopping and a good chunk of it crafting.  The last time we got together we decided to have a craft session.  We were given the task of creating a project related to Christmas and then we were supposed to prepare all the pieces so that everyone could create their own that day, thus giving us all some Christmas cards or other projects for our stash.  We tried to keep the project to a 5 minute limit.  We all succeeded.  Here are my finished cards.

Here's what I made, an ornament using the Ornament & Tags #1 dies from Top Dog dies and CC Designs Cutters bubble number dies.

Man, I totally missed the boat on my project!  I wish I had thought to make a card instead.  It would have been so much easier and less stressful.  Luckily I came with another project for the ladies to do if they finished with this one.  I will be posting it on Friday.

Unfortunately there were no pictures of us to share, we were having so much fun we forgot to do that.  Next time for sure!  Sending out a big THANKS to Kathy for driving and organizing, Linda for hosting us at her house and for everyone's adorable cards, but most of all for sharing a day of crafts and tons of fun and laughter.  Until our next get-together...

Tee Hee Ho ho Ha Hee

hehehe!!

Guess you're all wondering, what the heck does Leanne's title mean?!  Well it's the funny sentiment that comes with Cheery Santa from Make It Crafty.  (LOL)  Here's a quick and easy card I made using Santa, the sentiment and a couple of MIC chippies.

This Santa cracks me up!!  It's like he's about to bust the buttons on his suit he's enjoying himself so much.  Must be enjoying the reindeer games, especially Rudolph who's showing off in the air.

Here are the supplies I used that are not listed above:  Neenah white & red card, Distress inks tumbled glass and salty ocean, La-La Land Crafts Fancy Christmas tree, a red gem and iridescent floral sequins which I thought resembled snowflakes nicely.

A fun Christmas card to add to my stash, I might take a page out of my crafty friend, Karen of Have A Scrap Happy Day, and make 5 of these.  We'll see how that works out.  lol!!  If you haven't stopped by Karen's blog to see all her hard work you're missing out.  I've missed a few days but plan to catch up soon.  Okie dokes, signing off now, thanks for stopping by!!

December Spotlight at Kitty Bee Designs

Hello!  Hello!

Today is the first Monday of December and that means I'm spotlighting over at the Kitty Bee Designs blog.  I still can't believe how quickly December has come!  Where did the time go?!  Why it seems like yesterday when I started writing up my first Monday spotlight so long ago...  With Thanksgiving over it's time to start up the Christmas card making frenzy!  Normally I procrastinate and do a few cards, but this year, my friend Karen has gotten me in to the Christmas card making spirit.  If you haven't been by her blog yet to see her mass production of beautiful and diverse cards you should definitely head on over.  She's got days worth of shares that will make your jaws drop and then make you smile.

Speaking of smiling, here's my card for today's spotlight...

Holiday Greetings with Bun with Heart

I used this cute image called, Bun with Heart, and some of my most recent purchases with a few pieces from my stash thrown in.  Using my Copics I gave this cutie a little Christmas outfit.  I'm actually thinking this would be the cutest card to send to someone who just recently had a baby.  I can always change out the sentiment if that's the direction I wanted to go in.  Definitely one of my favorite images to use year round.  There are more sweet images in the Etsy store that you can purchase to create the perfect little card or project for some Christmas fun.

Today will be my last spotlight for 2014.  The Kitties and the Bees are taking a well deserved rest to spend time with our families for the holidays.  No worries though, we'll be back in 2015 refreshed and ready for a new and exciting year.  For now I want to say thank you all for your support and for joining our challenges.  I hope each of my amazing teammates has inspired you and that you continue to support this amazing stamp company.  Before I sign off, don't forget to join our current Aloha Friday challenge, we have one more challenge left before the year ends, you don't want to miss out.
