25 Days of Christmas Challenge - Day 24

Hello!

I'm back to share day 24 of the 25 days of Christmas challenge with Linda & Kathy.  I hope you're having a nice time with your family and friends celebrating.  It's still super early (as I write up this post) so everyone is slowly beginning to wake up.

For day 24 I shared the card my mom picked to send to Grandma.  She had her pick of either the one I just shared (scroll down) or this one.  

She picked this one.  This is another combo of some of my favorite companies: Hanko Designs, La-La Land Crafts and Island Scrapbooking.  If you've been following this challenge with me you'll recognize the layout from another card I made using Haruyo from Sister Stamps.  I was planning on making the same card but decided not to.  Instead I used Paper Doll Marci Kimono from La-La Land Crafts.  I colored her up again with Copics and this time I left the dangling baubles.  They're under the gems.  (hahaha)  I loved the way Irina colored Marci's kimono on the packaging so I tried to do the same, yeah turned out better than I had hoped.  (hahaha)  Last but not least is the beautiful Island Scrapbooking laser cut sentiment.  It used to be a pretty light pink, but I colored it black with a Copic marker.  It made more sense to me.  (hahaha)

25 Days of Christmas Challenge - Day 23

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

I've been so darned busy these last 3 days that I forgot to post day 23 - 24!  So I will post each one today along with day 25.  So sorry you'll see 3 posts from me, I'll try to keep them short.

For day 23 of the 25 Days of Christmas challenge with Linda & Kathy.  I shared this Asian themed card featuring some beautiful La- La Land dies and image, an Island Scrapbooking laser cut sentiment and a Hanko Designs Tsumugi cardstock & washi paper...

I had some fun with washi paper and the La-La Land lanterns banner.   I used the adorably sweet Paper Doll Marci Kimono.  Colored her with Copics, including her kimono with the pretty details.  I trimmed off her hair baubles because I wanted to keep it CAS. About the card base, I had already punched out the bottom part of this card with an EK success border punch so just dressing up the rest of the card was what it needed.   The lanterns were paper pieced with washi paper from Hanko Designs and I used gold foil for the tassels.  Here is a close-up of the lanterns.

Adding the red gems to the snowflake centers also ties in to the flowers on Marci's kimono,  I love the layout and of course the Asian theme.  This is another one of my favorite cards for this holiday season.

25 Days of Christmas Challenge - Day 11 Lilo's Fun Friday #97

Alooohaaa everybody!

Happy TGIF!!  So happy it's Aloha Friday today!  It's also day 11 of my 25 days of Christmas Challenge with Linda & Kathy.  They are so cute, they are holding their own with this challenge and I am loving each reveal!  They make me laugh when they say it's so hard, but yet the projects they post are awesome!!  No sympathy from me, besides this was Linda's idea!  I just took up the challenge, but so very grateful I have.  (hahaha!)

It's been a while since I posted a Lilo's Fun Friday, so that's what today's share will be.  Here is LFF #97 and it's perfect for an Aloha Friday share...

This is a 5x5 card with some products from some of my favorite companies.  Front and center are the kiddos from Sister Stamps, Pua and Kaleo.  Colored them up with my current favorite Christmas colors, green, red and black.  Coloring Pua's muumuu was so tricky, hopefully you can see that there is a subtle red & green floral pattern on her dress.  I was going for the twinsies look, but couldn't move the colors after putting down the dark gray.  I still like how it turned out and will practice doing this again.  Kaleo was definitely easier to color.  The patterned washi paper is from Hanko Designs as are the black & green Tsumugi cardstock.  For the snowflakes I used a La-La Land die from the December club kit.  The sentiment is a laser die cut word from Island Scrapbooking.  I love the script writing and it was perfect for this card.  The final touches include two ruby gems and some white dots made with my white gel pen.   Oh you can see more details of Pua's dress in the picture below...

25 Days of Christmas Challenge - Day 8

Good morning!

Hope you're all doing well today.  It's day 8 of this 25 days of Christmas challenge that Linda & Kathy enrolled me in to doing.  It's actually been quite fun.  Makes me get to the craft table to make stuff and I'm proud to say I'm using a lot of my old stash to create these projects.  (Yay me!!)

Over the weekend I tried to finish more projects from the La-La Land Palooza retreat as well as more Christmas cards.  I'll share more of the retreat projects once I finish the bigger projects.  Still have a few more images to color and last details to finish.  The Christmas projects will be shared but for today I thought I'd share this card...

Here's my Asian version of Christmas.  Featuring Haruyo from Sister Stamps.  I used some pretty pretty washi paper and matted each red & black Tsumugi paper from Hanko Designs.  I had some left over red snowflakes so I added one to the right corner with a green gem.  The sentiment is a laser cut saying from Island Scrapbooking.  I separated them from each other, which made it much easier to center.  I'm so happy with how this one turned out.

LFF #93 - Last days of August

Hello!!

Long time no see!  I can't believe it's been two weeks since my last post!!  I must have been super busy.  As a matter of fact I was.  Mostly busy at work and being too tired to work on anything.  But for today I do have something to share.  It's a calendar!  I've only got a few more left to use up thanks to some friends who visited me last weekend.  They were able to use up 12 of the calendars!! Woo hoo!  So I only have a few left.  So for today's Lilo's Fun Friday #93...

The image is Miyoko from Sister Stamps, I colored her up to match the colors in the washi paper.  The outline of the sakura flowers are from a die cut.  All of these products can be purchased at Hanko Designs.  I matted the washi paper on to gold cardstock and then on to a black card.  Love how it turned out, even the boo-boo I did with her hair.

Can't believe how fast the time has flown by for August!  In just a few short days it'll be October!  But first let's enjoy September.  Have a fantastik Friday and a great weekend!!

Fairy Queen Anya mini calendar

Good morning!

Hope you all had a nice weekend.  Today I have another calendar card to share featuring a new (to me) TGF stamp, Fairy Queen Anya and new washi paper from Hanko Designs.

I love this Anya!  She's so sweet and I love her hair!  I had to do green with hints of yellows in the mix.  The rest of her was colored up pretty quick, fun-cut and then glued down flat for easy travel.  The sentiment is from AmyR for CC Designs.  Here's a not so pretty shot of all the glitter from my WOS clear brush pen. 

IRL, this is pretty!  I'm slowing transforming these calendars and sending them off to family and friends.  This one already found a home with one of my friends.  Only 20 more calendars to go, I think I can do this!  hahaha!!

I'm back with another calendar and throwback OA image.  This is Amelia from the OA Little Dreamer stamp set from the Greeting Farm.  Here is today's Throwback Thursday...

I used products from Hanko Designs which include the card bases, mattes and that beautiful washi paper.  The embossed sentiment is from an older AmyR stamp set.  Going with the same CAS design made this quick & easy to put together.  Yay!

TBT - Happy Day Calendar

Hello!

For today's Throwback Thursday post I picked another way back when Amelia from The Greeting Farm OA Happy Day stamp set.  And guess what?!  I made another calendar with her.  hahaha!  I know, I know.  hahaha!  I'm slowly whittling away the big stack...

Each time I see her I always picture pink hair!!  Not just any shade of pink, but a light pink.  I think I pulled it off.  I colored the rest of her with greens, blues and yellows.  She is a doll and totally reminds me of a Harujuku girl.  hehe.  I used another of the washi papers my dear cousin SharGD sent to me and happy with another CAS result.  The sentiment is another Island Scrapbooking laser cut phrase which I colored to match her boots.

My Favorite Thing Amelia calendar

Hello!

I've been having fun making up some mini calendars with my considerable amount of washi papers, 2015 calendars and the different Amelia stamps from The Greeting Farm.  Here's the newest one I've completed...

This is Amelia from the OA - My Favorite Thing stamp set.  I colored her with Copics, fun cut her out with a white border and glued her down flat for easy mailing.  That pretty washi paper is from the stash my cousin SharGD sent to me.  Let me say that she sent me a bunch of washi paper, so it will take some time to get through all of them.  I don't mind, it'll be fun to see what I can do with each of them.

June Spotlight at Kitty Bee Designs

Hello!!

Happy June!!  Can't believe how quickly the year is flying by!  In no time at all it'll be Christmas!! Yikes!!  haha!  For now I'm embracing June for all it's worth!

When I think of June I think of graduations and the many types of cards you can make for just this occasion.  Today I'm spotlighting this non-traditional graduation card over at the Kitty Bee Designs blog.

As my mojo has gone on hiatus for a bit I decided CAS was called for here.

I printed off Kawaii Hug Me Owl colored him up and added a cute cap.  Yes, I could have picked any other image from the Etsy shop, but I think this owl looks very wise and with that graduation cap very distinguished.  I went a bit non-traditional for a graduation card by using gold and white washi paper.  Perfect for this non-traditional graduation card.  I don't think I would think twice about giving this to a boy or girl, elementary or high school graduate.  Even possibly a college graduate.  Definitely works for all.

Oops one last 2014 Calendar!

Hey!!

Thanks everyone for all the wonderful comments you've been leaving.  I read them as soon as I get to work because I need a little happy reading before starting the day.  Big hugs to you all!!

I have one last calendar for 2014 to share.  I made this for one of the temps who's last day was Friday. When I hear someone is leaving the company, especially in our department, I try to give them a good luck/best wishes card.  Lately I've been trying to incorporate something useful.  So adding a calendar to the front was perfect.  I found an extra 2014 calendar so I parred it down to August and added the 2015 calendar below it.  I made it into a tent card so that if he wanted to put it on his desk at his new job he could.

In case you didn't recognize the image I used Shin-Shin from Sister Stamps and had a bit of fun coloring with a few Copics I had at work.  Definitely not your traditional coloring right?  hahaha!  I had a blast coloring him up including his glowing bamboo stick.  I have about 5 Copics markers that I leave at work and they are not the traditional bunch.  But I had fun anyways and I think it turned out pretty cool, especially with the cool washi paper in the background.  As you can see I used the same Tim Holtz postage stamp die again and I mounted it on to chipboard and then on to the white card.  After fussy cutting Shin-Shin I popped him above the calendar and added the Best Wishes laser die cut sentiment right next to him.  You can't really tell but I added Stickles to the glowing bamboo stick, and all of Shin-Shin's patches.  It looks pretty cool IRL.

Here's a close-up, pretty fun yea?  I might need to leave a couple more colors at work, just in case.  Well I hope you liked today's share, it was a lot of fun to make.  This weekend I have a future commission for some fun birthday decorations, wish me luck!  Hopefully I'll have time to stop in at Alyce's Kit & Clowder 3000 members weekend party.  So many fun things happening there.  Like a crayon coloring contest!  Wuuutt?!!

LFF #73 - I love bamboo

Hope you're all having a great Aloha Friday the 13th! (dun dun dunnnnnn! hahaha)

Usually I don't need a reason to make a card, but this time I was sending a payment for some cookies I bought from my cousin's fundraiser and I didn't want to just send a check in an envelope.  That would go against the cardmakers oath!  hahaha!!  So for today's Lilo's Fun Friday #73 share I would like to showcase this card I sent to my cousin using Shin-Shin from Sister Stamps.

All of the paper materials, except the Neenah cardstock, can be purchased at Hanko Designs. I thought the bamboo washi paper added a great background to my layout.  The green card is Tsugumi cardstock and I also used the same paper for the matte circle in turquoise.  That is some really great paper with a nice pattern too it.  The sentiment is computer generated and says, "I love bamboo" and on the inside I handwrote, "But I love cookies more!" It's true, cookies taste much better than bamboo. (hahaha)  Here's a close up of Shin-Shin and see the cool texture on the Tsugumi papers?

Pretty stoked with how it turned out and I hope my cousin will like it.  In this next shot you'll see I added some sparkle with my Wink of Stella glitter pen.  Can't use this enough! hahaha!

LFF #70 -

Happy Aloha Friday!

It's Friday and the Bees are off this week but that doesn't mean you should miss out on the newest challenge at Kitty Bee Designs.  The Kitties are up with some lovely Easter inspirations for you.  Stop by the Aloha Friday challenge today.

TGIF for reals!!  hahaha!!  I'm excited to start the weekend as it's been a very long week...  Glad it's only 1/2 day at work and then it's off to the races!!  Should be a fun team building.

I'm excited to share a new addition to the Lilo's Fun Friday folder.  I can't believe that it's going to be my 70th LFF post.  Whew time flies by so quickly, yea?  This particular card is up there with my all time favorites and I'm sending it to one special lady.  I looked through all of my stamps and chose this one because I know my grandma would love her.

It's Haruyo from Sister Stamps, you can read all about her here.  I was surprised that I had never inked her up before.  She's so pretty!  I guess I was waiting for a very special occasion.  What better occasion then my grandmother's birthday?!  So this had to be something special and it had to be purple.  Yes, I recently found out on my last trip to Hawai'i that she really likes purple.  She could have fooled me because she wears a lot of blue!  hahaha!  I had a lot of fun with this one, completing it within a few hours with lots of changes that had me gritting my teeth because of all the papers I wasted.  Ai-ya!  I'll have to make sure I use them for a future project.  I know we all probably have done that, but it's so annoying!  (hahaha)  Getting back to the card, I found some awesome washi paper at Daiso that has terrific texture to it.  I cut it down to a 5.5 x 5.5 card base.

Next I cut a few floral layers with two Lifestyle sakura 5 petal flower dies.  The first layer is white mulberry paper although it doesn't look white (haha) I added some Inka gold metallic rub then used a floral stamp from Crafter's Companion to stamp on the petals (used Encore metallic gold ink).  My first handmade paper!

The next layers include purple mulberry paper and purple/gold washi paper from Hanko Designs.  (I'm going to have to order more soon as this one is almost gone.)  The stamen is from the C.C. Designs Cutters Cherry Blossom die.  A few more additions and here's the end result...

Eek!  I almost want to keep this one!  haha...  I know it's going to a good home, yes she keeps all of our art projects and displays them from time to time.  So I added some pearls from Recollections to the stamen and bottom of the sakura flower.  Love the champagne color as it picks up hints of the same color from the washi paper.  I used another CC kanji stamp (discontinued) that says Love.  It was inked with Memento grape jelly ink on to a piece of that washi paper (card base scrap)  I ripped the edges by hand to give it a softer look.

I colored Miss Haruyo with Copics on to some paper I found in the clearance bin at Kelly Paper Company.  It is very thin compared to the normal Neenah paper I use but it seems to work really nicely with the Copics, hardly bleeds which was a plus.  After fussy cutting Haruyo I popped her up in the center.

Aww, she is super sweet.  Love how the purple looks purple and not blue.  How about a peek of the inside?  I know I don't normally do that but for this card I did.  Used some scraps and another kanji word for a nice simple addition...

Hmmmm... I think I'll make a few cards just like this!  I could use up a lot of scraps with this simple layout.  I am definitely going back for a few more packs of that washi paper!  I can see myself using it for more projects.  Popping this in the mail soon as grandma's birthday is next week!  Hope she likes it.

A heartfelt thank you

Popping in to share a 4x4 card featuring another of the newest Girls day stamps from Sister Stamps, her name is Minako and you can read all about her here.

Consider this a heartfelt thank you card.  The washi paper was in a set of papers I bought years ago.  (Focusing on using what I have is what I had in mind, plus the papers just worked)  I used one of them for her obi and colored the rest of her with Copics. The sentiment is a die cut word from Island Scrapbooking and the sakura flowers were made with punches.

LFF #67 - Purple & Gold for Sesame Bijoux

Happy Aloha Friday!

It's been too long since my last Lilo's Fun Friday so I thought I'd kick off the weekend with this card I made back in November for my friend Jenny for her birthday.  She loves her some purple.  The only thing that I'm surprised is not purple is her car which is red.  The other thing she likes is lots of sparkle.  For her card I chose purple colors with a splash of gold and some beautiful washi paper from Hanko Designs.  For my centerpiece I chose the always popular Miyoko from Sister Stamps. 

 

It's a big card, had to be to fit that doily!  (hahaha)  Now, the details or layers... Dark purple card, lavender cardstock, washi paper, gold doily, dark purple circle, washi paper circle, a lavender die cut doily, Island Scrapbooking sentiment, MIC Laser Chipboard corners and of course Miyoko.  The chipboard corners and the Happy Birthday sentiment were both colored with Copic markers to match the dark purple cardstock. I also used Copics to color Miyoko.

This shot shows the gold on the doily as well as the gold in Miyoko's kimono (which happens to be paper-pieced.)  Now the secret of that gold doily is that it was actually white to begin with.  Yes, I used this awesome new product (at least to me) from Viva Decor Inka Gold.  I bought it from Joann's and it comes in all kinds of awesome colors.  Yes you can use your coupon to buy it and I have to say, it's pretty awesome.  I bought some other colors and cannot wait to play with them. I will have to figure out where that doily die is from, I want to say Sizzix, but I can't find the link to one, so I will update that one later.  Oh and if you're wondering where I added the glitter, well to the cupcake of course! :)

Year of the Horse calendar

Hi!

Today I wanted to share a quick and easy coaster calendar featuring the Year of the Horse from Sister Stamps.

Super simple and easy to make.  I used a regular cardboard coaster, covered it with a scrap of orange chrysanthemum washi paper that I bought from Hanko Designs.  I thought the paper was just a bit too bright so to soften it up I brushed on some white gesso.  What a difference it made.  I stamped a few kanji words in the four corners with gold ink.  The calendar is matted with a scrap of Navy blue cardstock from Recollections.  The Year of the Horse is from the Sister Stamps Zodiac series and you can read all about it HERE.  It also happens to be this year's zodiac symbol.  I tried to color it up like a golden horse but it looks more like a dark honey color, that's okay, I like it anyway.  After fussy cutting the horse I added pop dot adhesives behind and positioned it right above of the calendar.

Lollipop Crafts #72 - Sentimentally Yours

Morning!

Today is a start of another challenge at Lollipop Crafts.  Challenge # 72, Sentimentally Yours is all about making your sentiment the focal point of your card.  This week's sponsor is The Stamping Boutique, for more information on the prize this week head on over to the Lollipop Crafts blog.  You'll also find some inspirations from the T-Team for this week's challenge.

My card took less than 15 minutes to create.  It took longer to pick the papers and sentiment, but once I had them all it came together pretty quickly.  And I am die-ing to show you my newest purchases.  (lol)

Here is it!  As you can see my versions of a CAS card (yep it's a card) showcasing my newest die by Lifestyle Crafts.  I purchased this set along with several other new products, including that beautiful washi paper, from Hanko Designs a couple weekends ago at the stamp convention.  These were all featured at CHA and I was so stoked to find these at the Hanko booth.  Don'tcha just love it?!  Well I do, and I am so looking forward to using them again.  The size of the base card is "5.5 x 5.8", which is the largest of the dies.  It's pretty huge and barely fit onto the "A" plate in my Cuttlebug.  The base of the card is Tsumugi Hiwa cardstock.  I added some distress ink in crushed olive to the inside giving it a nice framed feel.  The same distress color is used on the center flower.  The sentiment is one of my favorite AmyR sayings.  So happy it matched the card.  The flourish is part of a set from Sizzix.   The only thing I can add is that the sentiment is inked with Memento bamboo leaves by Tsukineko.

See the gold flowers in the washi paper?  O, I was sooo happy to find it amongst all the other pretty papers.  It has a beautiful spring like feel to it.  I will definitely be using this more, especially with Mother's day coming up soon.  It's also perfect for Spring cards.

Lilo's Fun Friday #18

Happy Friday everyone!!  Woo Hoo!!  It's been one of those kinda blah weeks for me, but the weekend is lookin' up.  Can't wait to get home from work today to start the relaxing.  What do you have planned for this weekend?  I know I'll get some crafting in with my buddy Renate and hopefully catch some zzzzs in there some where.  :)

This should be a fairly short one today because the card itself is definitely CAS.  It might not look it but it really is.  (lol)  Made this card for a friend.  I hope she likes it and takes some inspiration from it.  Using Sister Stamp, Miyako, and 2 gorgeous Yuzen washi paper from Hanko Designs here is my share for LFF #18, hope you like.

Ta-da!  This doesn't look like it, but I only used the washi paper and Miyako here.  That paper is so dramatic and really pretty it really did not need anything other than a cute image.  I thought it would be fun to cut the top corner and used my new Fiskars border punch to add a fun accent.  The other washi paper is one I have used in the past, and it worked really well in the corner.  Colored Miyako to match the oranges and golds on the sakuras.  After fussy cutting her I popped her up with pop dots.  No sentiment this time, thought this could be used for any occasion.

Well that's all for me today.
