Aloha Friday Challenge #30 - In the Garden

Happy Aloha Friday!!

Today starts a brand new Aloha Friday challenge at Kitty Bee Designs!

In the Garden

Your project must follow the theme.  This one is definitely easy-peasy.  For more details, head on over to the blog.  This week we're excited to have our challenge sponsored by:

The Bees & I were lucky enough to receive a few images to showcase, please make sure to stop by the challenge blog to see what my teammates came up with.  They are sure to bring a smile to your face and give you tons of inspiration!!  Today I get to show off Sunbell - Precious Wings.  Oh but please be very quiet we don't want to wake her up...

Oh my talk about adorable!!  This image was the perfect one for my card and this challenge theme. This is another baby card and it's exploding with some bright colors!!  I chose yellow, orange, and green as my color palette to go with a summer theme.  The blooms look like she's nestled right in the middle of a garden.  Oh man I stressed about this one for a while.  After much deliberation I ended up taking a bunch more leaves and flowers away.  Now it definitely looks like she's "in the garden".  Here are some pictures...

Using a white pen I added polka dots to the orange flowers and buttons.  It was really nice to use up some older Prima flowers for this card. After everything was glued down I added some water dew drops using my transparent pearlen pen.

The banner is part of the TE Party banner cutting plate.  I ran it through my Cuttlebug with some scrap white paper and trimmed off one of the banners.  I handwrote "Sweet" inside and stamped two daisies with MFT lemon drop ink, I also distressed it a little with some orange ink.  Here's a shot of the inside of the card featuring a couple of baby sentiments from AmyR.

Another close up of the adorable Sunbell and you'll see some of the dew drops created using that awesome pearlen pen.

Well folks it's time for you to share your "In the garden" projects with us.  Make sure to follow the directions posted on the blog, we wouldn't want you to be disqualified. Thanks a lot for dropping by to see my latest project.  Hope to see you playing in our challenge.  Have a great Aloha Friday!!

LFF #68 - More Mini Calendars

Hello!  Happy Aloha Friday!

Time for a new Lilo's Fun Friday (#68) share and today I think I'll share some of the mini calendars I made for my mom's co-workers.  I have been enjoying seeing all the mini (and big) calendars Eva has been posting (she's already got 2015 calendars up!!) and that encouraged me to finish using the rest of the calendars I have left even though 2014 is already in March.  Thanks for the inspiration Eva!

These are all CAS and were definitely easy to put together.  I used the TH postage stamp & the Stampin' Up Top Note Sizzix dies for the bases (backing them with chipboard to make them sturdy) and picked pretty colorful patterned paper (from my un-used stash) for the backdrops. The calendars are from Taylored Expressions.  For the images I used the Girl's Day stamps from Sister Stamps which were small enough to fit in the space above the calendar.  They are all colored with Copics with some hand-drawn designs for all the outfits and popped up with dimensional adhesive. The sparrows were colored to match but in lighter tones.  Here's a preview:

First up is Misaki with her little sparrow friends. You can read all about her here & here.

Isn't she sweet?!  I love how she's "flying" and can totally hear her singing a song along with the sparrows.  I used a multiliner pen to add some designs to her kimono and bows. The patterned paper is from the Bo Bunny, Ambrosia collection.  Next up are two of Harumi.  You can read all about her here.

Another sweet little girl image & look Misaki's sparrow friends!  I used a multiliner & white gel pens to add a little design to her kimono and bow. The patterned paper is from the Bo Bunny, Serenity collection.

As you can see there is a little bit of a theme going on here...  I added the sparrows instead of a sentiment because I thought they were just too cute not to include them, plus they fit perfectly next to each image. :)  I used a multiliner & white gel pen to add some design on to her kimono & bow.  The patterned paper is from Echo Park, Happy Days by Lori Whitlock.

The last two calendars are of Minako.  You can read all about her here.

She is a little bit bigger than the other two, but just as sweet.  I love how it looks like she's listening to the sparrows and enjoying what they are telling her. (hahaha)  A white gel pen was used for the design on the top of her kimono.  The patterned paper is from MME On the Bright Side.  Here's the last and possibly my favorite one.  I almost didn't want to let it go which is weird because this is well really girly! hahaha!!!

I think it might be because of the doodling I did on her kimono with a red American Crafts Memory marker.  At first I did a few swirls but it just didn't look finished to me, so I kept going and couldn't stop.  Once I was done I was so pleased!   The kimono is actually yellow underneath the red pattern.  I also love the patterned paper I picked which is from Echo Park, For the Record by Bella Road.

Well this was a long enough post yea?  Hope it was worth the read.  Mahalo for stopping by.  Have an awesome Aloha Friday and weekend.

Up and Away

Hello!

Here's a mini calendar I just finished.  I don't think I ever inked up Akira from Sister Stamps, you can read all about him HERE and check out Jenny's awesome project she made with him. I so wanna try that.  Anyhoos, here's the calendar...

I love how small this image is and really quick to color.  It fits perfectly on top of the calendar with space to spare at the top and sides.  Used bright colors with a touch of black for the kite because his should be the coolest and brightest in the sky.  Here are the layers:  kraft card (Neenah), patterned paper (MME - Fine and Dandy) cloud paper is die cut with Sizzix TH postage stamp frame, calendar from Taylored Expressions.  Colored with Copic markers.  Here's a close-up of the top...

Aww to be so happy and carefree... hehehe

Fun tip(s):  I double stamped this image first on to white card (Neenah) colored and fussy cut both images. (Yes, I did cut off the string.)  I stamped the image again on the patterned paper.  This totally saves on trying to fussy cut the string and still makes it look like you did.  On the twine he's holding, instead of coloring it I used a multiliner pen and added more "string", now it looks like it's going to go high in the air once he start to give it more slack.

I will have more calendars to share (thanks to inspirations by Eva & Lynn) soon.  Only 13 more to finish and I'll be done with 2014.  Until then hope you have a great crafty Saturday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs,
Leanne
