Happy Birthday Maile! - 1st Birthday card of 2016

Hello!!

Hope you all had a nice New Year's Day.  Every year on New Year's Day we go to my friend's house to celebrate and for the past 11 of those years it has been a double celebration with a birthday party and New Years celebration all rolled in to one.  I spent the morning working on this card for my friend's niece's birthday...

It's still got a little bit of the holiday flair going on, but with a touch of birthday fun.  I used the adorable image from TGF's Secret Santa set as the focal point.  I also broke open my Recollections Craft It Vintage Glam paper pads for this one.  Might as well use something new for this card.  I like this paper pad, lots of glam and glitter and it has lots of craft paper designs.  Also used here are some go to MFT dies, Blueprints 20 & Stitched mini scallops oval.  From Mama Elephant the two sentiments dies.  The gems and flower are both from Recollections.

I took this with me to the party for the birthday girl.  With friends, relatives and my parents, I spent another wonderful day celebrating not only the new year, but my friend's sweet niece's birthday.  Another wonderful surprise was to see one of my former basketball players there with her little family.  Her husband coaches my friend's niece in basketball!  Small world!  It was another blessing to see her there and to know she's doing so well.

Now that the Christmas season has passed, I'll be sharing the other cards & projects I made which include lots of birthday cards.  It should be fun trying to remember all the products I used, so if I can't remember please don't hold it against me.  hahaha!  Cheers to day 2 of 2016.  Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday cards for my stash

Hey everyone!

Today I have two random birthday cards to share.  One very feminine and one masculine.  Always nice to have these in my stash.  This is going to be a pretty short post as all I have are 4 pictures.

Using some flowers from my stash, the card above has a lot of different fun textures.  Even the flowers are made of different materials.  The card below was simple and quick, love those kinds of cards.

And there you have it!  hahaha!  Short and sweet today.  Happy Thursday friends.  Make it a great one!!

For Lani & Chris

Morning!
Happy Hump day!

Over the weekend my family and I spent some time in Pismo Beach, CA to celebrate my cousin's wedding.  It was a beautiful day and a lovely event.  The setting was over looking the beach, everyone was dressed to impress, the bridesmaids looked so pretty, the groomsmen looked very cool, the groom looked very handsome, but the bride took the spotlight.  She was beautiful!!  We partied til late and went home tired but it was a good tired knowing that the celebration was to honor the happy couple.  Since the wedding was an outdoor affair I made a card that reflected that using no image, but summery papers and pretty flowers.  I think I achieved what I wanted to do.

The flowers are a blend of Petaloo, Prima and Recollections.  I loved the textures on the Petaloo flowers, they somehow reminded me of the sea.  My cousin's favorite color is turquoise, so the aqua was the closest I could get and adding the peaches and oranges really worked out beautifully.  Here's a close-up of the flower arrangements.  Now I'm no expert like my cousin, but I love how it turned out.  First up is the aqua flower...

And here's a close-up of the orangey-peach flower.  I love the difference in the textures of the flower with the soft colors.  I'm going to have to buy more of these.

The papers are a combination of Hanko, Neenah, DCWV and K&Co.  I added a pretty white crotched border and framed out their names with an MFT die.

The inside was what my mom wanted so I printed it out on cardstock from DCWV.  Sorry I don't know where she found it.

Here are a couple pictures (courtesy of my cousin & FB) of Lani & Chris and as you can see it was a beautiful day for a wonderful celebration of love and commitment...

To the happy couple, may you both be as happy as you are here forever and ever.  Love you guys!!

Well I better get moving, hope you all have a wonderful day!  Mahalo for stopping by!
