Y&FH Challenge #30 Team Fumi Reminder

Good afternoon everyone!

Sorry I'm late with this post. Today over at the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog, Team Fumi is sharing their inspirations for our current challenge:

So far we only have 1 entry to the challenge, hopefully some of you just need some inspiration to get the juices flowing.  There is tons of it on the blog.  Team Yumi's inspirations were adorable last week and this week Team Fumi has done another awesome job of using this sketch to create.  Make sure to head on over to each of their blogs and leave them some love... Click here to get started...  And don't forget you have until Friday to link up.

Here's my take on my own somewhat crude sketch (lol)... Another pocket-tag featuring Fumi Panda:

The pretty dp is from MME The Station 6x6 paper pad.  Kraft cardstock is Recollections and the white is Neenah.  Flowers are from Petaloo and the bling is from Recollections.  The hearts are punched out with two different sized heart punches and I hand wrote the sentiment.  Oh and that little piece of pretty ribbon on the bottom is from Daiso.  Here's the tag which I kept CAS, will write my message on the back of the tag when I decide to send it out...

Colored Fumi Panda with a minimal amount of Copics (E000, E00, E21, E20, N10, E44, E49, E42) and paper pieced part of her suit.  Here's the hidden message in the pocket...

Nope it's not too fancy at all.  hahaha...  Hand wrote that one too.  I couldn't find the right sayin' to add in the window so this is what I ended up with.  hahaha!  I know, I know...  Alrighty, don't forget you have until Friday, Jan 31st to link up.  Your absolutely last chance to link up.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!  Mahalo for stopping by!

Y&FH CH #29 Reminder - Anything Goes

Morning!

Today Team Fumi is sharing their super awesome inspirations for the current Anything Goes challenge.  Stop here to be inspired.  For my card I made a get well card.  I don't have very many of these, but they are still good to have in my stash.

I used Fumi with Messenger Bag here.  I was really sure what I was going for with this card, something cheerful and bright I think.  I grabbed an older Bo Bunny (Ambrosia Collection) paper pad because I really liked the pretty papers.  Grouped them with some white accents and I was done.  The zig zag border is a die from MFT, also from MFT was the sentiment.  Last I added some half pearls to finish it off.

Stop by the Y&FH blog to join the challenge which ends on Friday.

This weekend is CHA and although I didn't go in to the convention I did meet up with some crafty friends for dinner and dessert.  Here are some pictures.  You might also see Chuck (aka Chuckles), Kathy (from Team Fumi), our guest dt Thanh Vo & one of our original DT gals, Kim Yu. You'll also see some celebrities, Sparkle (from Sparkle Creations), Suzanne Bier and Jing Von Opstal.

Yep, we had a great time hanging out.  Now it's time for me to get back to the crafty table to make more a few more cards.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Have a fantastic football Sunday!

Y&FH December Challenge Reminder

Good morning everyone!

Today Team Fumi is popping in over at the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog to remind you that we still have a challenge going on.  Make sure to stop by the Y&FH blog to see what the other ladies have up their sleeves.  They are sure to bring smiles to your faces and get you itching to make something for our challenge.  Here's a reminder of the photo inspiration:

Hehehe, seriously I have no idea how the picture is doing that, but I love it!!  I really wish I had a room like this in my house.  hehehe.  For my project I created a calendar which I just might hang up at work.  My inspiration came from one of the coolest cards created by my cool crafty friend and former DT gal, Sandie Dunne, featuring our Back 2 School kids.  Mine isn't as fabulous as hers, but I like how it turned out just the same... Oh and I embraced some white space too, well I tried.. (haha)

After I stamped the images and colored them I free-handed the 2014 behind them.  The calendar pieces are from Island Scrapbooking which I picked up while on vacation in August.  So happy they were able to fit on to the 12 x 8 1/8 piece of beautiful DCWV patterned cardstock.  Yes the calendar is that big!  I used my favorite EK corner punch and added them to the image.  Kept it CAS which is nice for a change.  Decided that the white space looked just right for this piece.

Now that I look at this, they look almost like an ad for Guess or A&F.  (lol)  Hey I did say ALMOST! (LOL)  I hope more of you will come and play in our challenge, you have until Friday to link up here.  Well thanks so much for stopping by today.  Have a fabulous Sunday!

Y&FH Challenge #18 ~ Time to Celebrate!

Hello!

Before I start I wanted to wish my big brother a Happy Birthday!!  We celebrated his birthday yesterday and today he's probably getting ready to go out on the golf course later today. :)

Today starts a new challenge at Yumi & Fumi Handmade and we want you to create a card with this theme:

Time to Celebrate!!

This is a great time to create a card for any celebration.  There are tons of graduates out there, people getting married, babies being born, and there are people celebrating anniversaries.  Head on over to Rosie's blog to see her really cool card featuring Chuckles with Gecko.  It's soo cute!  For my card I went CAS again... You can never have too many cards like this.  I grabbed Chase and decided to make a card that a husband could give to his wife on their anniversary or a groom could give to his wife-to-be...

Here he is looking rico-suave.  (hahaha)  I used paper from GCD and Spellbinders.  I handwrote the sentiment with a white gel pen.  Distress inked the frame and colored with a few Copics.  Keeping this one handy just in case... Ya never know I might start a trend..  lol... if only!

Okie dokes, head on over to the Y&FH blog to see the details for this bi-weekly challenge.  Don't forget to brush up on our rules in case you want to play.  They are super easy to follow so before you link up please read.  Thanks so much for stopping by!!  Have a great Sunday and don't forget to come back for our previews for the new release, starts tomorrow.

Hugs,

Y&FH CH #16 Reminder

Hey everyone!
We are slowly coming up on the last day to submit your entry over at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  Challenge #16 is Anything But a Card and we've gotten some really terrific entries.  You still have time to join our challenge which closes at noon, pst on Friday, May 24th.  Stop by Sandie's blog to see her project.  You won't be dissappointed.  And if you missed out on any of the other DT projects stop by the Y&FH blog

Wow, it's been some time since I last posted.  I can honestly say my mojo was missing for a few days.  Could not get anything going. :(  Finally found a little bit of it the other day and channeled it in to this project.  If you've got some time to stay and read through, this plans to be a long one. (eek!)

I created another easel 2-drawer box with a "green" theme. :)  I have been having some fun making these.  Hope you like...

I used one of my go-to images, Fumi with Bear Backpack because I wanted to do a little collab with one of the newest images from the last Sister Stamps release, Shin-Shin the Panda.  (Both images can be purchased in the Yumi & Fumi Handmade store.)

I love how cute and cuddly that little panda is and I had fun mimicking the colors on Fumi's bear backpack to match the colors I used on Shin-Shin.

Some of you have requested a tutorial on how to make this box and I am working on one.  It's hard going if you've never done one before, but I will try my best to make it as simple as possible.  I like simple so it should not be too hard.  If you're anxious though, Kathy posted a tutorial on her blog.  Her version is slightly different from mine, but the end result is the same.  :)

I did not use any designer or patterned paper on this project!  Pretty proud of myself.  I used kraft and dark brown cardstock to create the box.  I wish I could remember where I saw the tutorial for the embossing parts.  It was actually really easy and very cool to do.  Taking the bamboo embossing folder from the Oriental weave set, I inked the top portion of the panel with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink, not the raised side, but the "negative" side.  Carefully slide the cardstock paper in, closed it and ran it through my Cuttlebug machine.  I did it twice since the panel was longer.  The end result is a negative impression with the raised parts the color of the original cardstock.  To emphasize the raised parts on the cardstock I used the same ink and went over the whole panel with it.  It created this awesome softness that emphasizes the details on the embossed parts.  I did the same for the bottom portion of the box using the  Distressed stripes embossing folder.  It totally looks like bamboo to me so I went with it.  Used the same technique as I did with the bamboo background.  (The pictures below are the steps I just described using the 2nd embossing folder)

The kanji sign for Harmony was stamped using the same ink and die cut with a circle punch from SU.  Used a sponge to add a bit of distress to the circle and pop dotted it in the center between Fumi and Shin-Shin.  The bottom sentiment says "capture the moment in your heart." and is a $1 stamp I bought at Michael's a few years ago.

The last touch was the brads I used for the "knobs" on the drawers.  They are leaves and thought they tied everything together well.  Glad I could pull those out of the "vault" to use. (lol).

And there you have it.  If you've read all the way through thank you and I hope it was well worth the read.  :)  I am really excited about this one especially because I was able to use a Sister Stamp and a Y&FH stamp all on the same project and learned a new technique along the way.  Yay me! hehe :)

Make sure to link up HERE before noon, pst tomorrow and please, before you link make sure that you followed our challenge rules else your project will be removed from our Inlinks link.  Mahalo for stopping by!  Have an awesome day!

Hugs,
Leanne

Y&FH Challenge #11

Happy Sunday everyone!!

We have a new challenge up on the Yumi and Fumi Handmade blog today.  It's a wonderful sketch created by Kim Yu

Pretty yea?!  Love all the different elements going on here and all the different ideas that go through my head.  Make sure to stop by Rosemary's blog today as she's also sharing her project using the sketch.  Here's what I came up with...

Definitely opposite of the sketch but all the elements are there.  This is Chasezilla from the Kigurumi Kids series.  He's so cute and pretty versatile.  I chose the papers, from My Minds Eye and then colored him up to match.  The sentiment was handwritten and I had a lot of fun creating the star badge.  Used Spellbinders, a circle & star punches.  Instead of real stitching I created fake stitching with a blue pen.  Want to see the prize package we've come up with for the winner?

Pretty nice yea?  Our resident bunny thinks so.  hehehe...   Feel free to share the badge on your blog with a link back to the Yumi & Fumi Handmade challenge post so everyone knows you're playing with us and maybe they'll follow you too.  The challenge ends on Friday, March 15th at noon pst.

Alrighty friends, hope to see you playing with us and if you'd like to visit us on Facebook or Pinterest head on over to the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog where you will find links to both of our pages.  Before I sign off, have you been by the Designed to Color blog this weekend?  They are celebrating their 1 year anniversary with an awesome celebration.  Their first crafty challenge is being sponsored by Yumi & Fumi Handmade, so please check it out to get all the details on how you can possibly win 4 stamps of your choice.  There are also other amazing prizes being given away by other Crafty/Stamp companies that you don't want to miss.  Click HERE to head on over.

Mahalo for stopping by!  I hope to see you all playing along and spreading some Yumi & Fumi love.
Hugs,
Leanne

Y&FH Challenge # 9 - Hangin' with my Gnomies

Happy Super Bowl Sunday everyone!!

What most excites you about the Super Bowl?  Is it the two teams playing?  The creative commercials or the spectacular half-time show?  What about the special food that's prepared just for Super Bowl?  So many things to take in to consideration yea?  Well I don't really have a favorite when it comes to the Super Bowl.  I mostly look forward to the food, the commercials and the half-time show.  It should be a pretty exciting game though.  Good luck to both sides!!

I'd like to take this opportunity to say MAHALO to all 11 participants for the January month long challenge.  We really enjoyed each one of the designs and look forward to even more participants for future challenges.  Speaking of which...

Today starts a new challenge over at Yumi & Fumi HandmadeChallenge #9 ~ Use a Die or Punch.  Head on over to the blog to check out the inspirations from a few ladies from our design team.  Here is my card featuring Fumi Panda and looks like she's got some little friends playing HIde-n-seek.

I'm calling this one, "Hangin' with my Gnomies!" {hehehe} I used various Spellbinder circles, Stampin' Up circle punches and C.C. Design Cutters Bubble Alpha letter dies.  The pattern paper is from MME, Gnome Sweet Gnome.  The white cardstock is embossed with white daisies.  I fussy cut Fumi Panda and all the gnomes. Yes the gnomes are super small and it was quite a chore cutting out the details. lol.. But it was worth it in the end.  The layout is from the Deconstructed Sketch #86.

Alrighty, now it's your turn to play.  You have until Friday, 2/15/13 at Noon (PST) to link up your project.  ONE entry per participant and you must link directly to your post and not your blog.  All challenge details can be found in the Challenge info tab at the top of our Home page.

Before I sign off, a reminder to come and LIKE us on our FB page.  We're trying to reach 200 likes and once we do, we're giving a way a stamp or two.  So lots of places to look for a chance to win some cuteness.

Mahalo for stopping by today!!  Have a terrific day!  Go 49ers!  Go Ravens!

January Y&FH Challenge

Happy Sunday!!

Today starts the new monthly challenge at Yumi and Fumi Handmade.  We really appreciate everyone that participated in our December challenge, and congrats to the winners!  January is another month long challenge, so you have plenty of time to participate.  We hope you join us.  Stop by the Y&FH blog to see if you are a winner, the DT samples and to see what the details are for the January inspiration photo challenge.  Good luck!

Here is the kawaii photo Rosemary chose for us to use:

And here is what I came up with featuring Chase from our Back to School line

Yep my Chase has pink hair and dreamy aqua eyes.  He's also not afraid to wear a pink dress shirt with a light aqua tie.  Added him on to a tag which is the same pattern as the pillow.  Super simple.

I hope you'll be able to join our challenge.
Mahalo friends for stopping by!

LFF #52 - 2 More Cards

Happy Aloha Friday Everyone!

Wow, in just a few days we'll be welcoming a new year, gonna try to savor the last few days.  Here's a couple more holiday cards I made which could possibly be the last of them.   First up is another card using the sweet SC Christmas Angel with dp from BG (Jovial).

The second card features Winter Chuckles from Yumi & Fumi Handmade
I could not resist using the last of the Rudolph paper (DCWV) for this one.  I made a simple wreath and strung some red and white twine and a big red button for the top.  The sentiment is from Kraftin' Kimmie and doesn't it look like a poker chip? lol!  I love how this one turned out!  This card reminds me of the Y&FH December challenge currently going on.  Have you had a chance to upload your card yet?  There are only a few players right now, but for a big prize we'd love to have more so don't forget to join in the fun.  Here's the link to the challenge {CH#8}; hope you can join us!

Have a wonderful Aloha Friday everyone and enjoy your weekend!

Lilo

Holiday Cheer with Yeti Fumi

Morning everyone!!

Sorry this post is soo late.  I meant to have it up yesterday, but we had a team building event at work and I think I am getting sick!  When I say think it's because I'm not sure if it's a cold or allergies.  I'm pretty sure I'm sick, but hoping it will run its course and end soon.  {lol}  Before I get on with my post I wanted to say Mahalo to Linda and Denice for stopping by to leave me a comment on my Winter 2012 release day post.  You both will get something in the mail from me, I truly appreciate the support! :)

Here's a CAS tag I shared on the Y&FH blog but didn't get a chance to share here.

This is Yeti Fumi and she's all bundled up and ready to show off her decorating skills.  I embossed the base of the tag with one of my new Cuttlebug embossing folders (giant snowflakes) and used white Colorbox pigment ink to sponge around.  The dp is from DCWV and went perfectly with my card.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.  I finally bought a couple of their sentiment thanks to Rachel and Eva for enabling! :)  The snowflake is a chipboard with glitter on it and I used a really pretty silver braided ribbon for the top.  Yeti Fumi is colored with Copics and I apologize, but I forgot to write down the colors.  If I remember I'll make sure to update.  This tag ties in with our current November challenge, Ribbons or Lace which happens to end on Saturday.  For all the details and to link up your creation click here.  You could be in the running to win a stamp or be a part of our top 3.

Alrighty, have a nice day and Mahalo for stopping by!
Hugs,
Leanne

Y&FH Bring the Bling Challenge

Hey Everyone!!

Today is Saturday and that means a new challenge at Yumi & Fumi Handmade!  This bi-weekly challenge is sure to bring all of you in.  Rosie wants us to "Bring the Bling!"  Now I'm not too much of a blingy girl so I had to ask my team what exactly does that require?  They all had the same answer: "STICKLES & GEMS!" (lol!)  I took their advice and hopefully made them proud...

Here's another Halloween card and this time I used Yumicorn because I thought she would love to be all sparkly and dress-up is her favorite thing to do.  I also heard she was looking foward to going to the local pumpkin patch.  She's dressed in her Halloween blacks and her horn and wings were specially selected for this fun holiday.  She's got black gems on her outfit and her horn is sparkly to match her pretty wings.  She's so lucky because she's found some pumpkins and boy are they stylish with all that bling!!  I know it's sooo hard to tell what is sparkling right?  So here's another shot at a different angle...

I chose the best paper for this challenge I think.  LOL!  The only thing that is not sparkly on this page is the stickers (but they are shiney from the silver letters) and her black outfit.  I'm so happy with this card!!  Now make sure to stop by the Y&FH blog to see the other blingy creations created by our fabulous design team.  I am in awe at how wonderful all their blingy creations are.

Mahalo for stopping by and I hope you come and play in our challenge.
Hugs,
Leanne

Y&FH Challenge #3 - Anything but a Card

Greeting friends!!
Today, we have a new challenge over at the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog.  This bi-weekly challenge is Anything but a card.  Please visit the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog for all the details and see the gorgeous projects from our very talented DT.  There is no prize for this challenge but we hope you'll play along because you will still be in the running for our top 3.

I made a fun tag with some scraps of designer paper from the October Afternoon School House paper.  I also chose to use Fumi with Bear Backpack...

I had a ton of fun coloring her up, especially her "Panda" bag.  hehehe!  I handwrote the sentiments because I didn't have any stamps that would work.  It's always fun to do that every once in a while.

Copics:
Skin: E000, E00, E01, BV20
Hair: E35, E37, E39, E49
Eyes: BV20, BV23
Shirt: B21
Vest: N2
Skirt: B21, N3, N4
Socks: N3
Shoes: N7
Panda: N5, N3, white gel pen

I hope you decide to join us for our bi-weekly challenge.  We've added another awesome stamp company to our list of stamps you may use for our challenges.  Surely you'll have one of them to play along with.

Challenge #2 - Yumi & Fumi Handmade

Hi Everyone!!

I would love to say Thank you to everyone for all the lovely birthday wishes, greetings and the awesome birthday blog hop from yesterday.  Facebook is overloading with special messages too and boy I'm so happy I could burst!  Thank you all for thinking of me and for making my day extra special.  If you didn't get a chance to check out the awesome hop Y&FH Birthday Coordinator, Eva coordinated, please stop by the Yumi & Fumi Handmade post HERE and when you get to the Lollipop Crafts blog please, please make sure to stop by each of the sistahs blogs who are featured.

I had an amazing day with my family and then an awesome dinner with my bud Renate' and her family.  My buddy Doreen made me some amazing cupcakes and I look forward to my birthday cake when I go back to work on Tuesday.

Now, this post is super late, but couldn't be helped.  I'm just now getting access to a computer because mine had to go in for a check up.  Actually my brother did something to it and now he's gonna have to fix it.  lol... Hopefully it'll be for the better.  We have our 2nd challenge over at Yumi & Fumi Handmade and the challenge is a simple one, use a sentiment.  You'll be blown away with the DT creations, I know I always am.  You'll also get a chance to see the updates we made to the challenge images you can use and as this is the first challenge of the month a stamp of our choosing is up for grabs.

I found a couple of those wooden craft words when I went to Big Lots.  I thought they would be terrific to add some images to.  I picked Yumi & Fumi to use and colored them both up differently so that you can see how versatile they can be. It's pretty picture heavy so please bare with me. :)

First up is DREAM...

Here are some close ups:

Next up is WISH...

I didn't do anything to the words, just colored and fussy cut a bunch of Yumi & Fumi images and popped them on to the words.  A nice way to add some fun to some really powerful words.  It's now your turn to play along.  It's a 2 week event so you've got plenty of time to choose your image & sentiment and link up with us.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and the rest of the week!!
Mahalo for stopping by!

Hugs,
Leanne
