Someone to Watch Over Me

Good morning!

Today I wanted to share the card I made using Turtle Lurv from Saturated Canary.  Love this image and was a little disappointed when it was the freebie, but it's ok, cause I knew either way I would have ended up buying her.  Can't resist anything with a cute turtle.  I had fun coloring this one.

Now this is not my normal style of cards, I'm not so good with flower arrangements, etc, but I truly love how it turned out.  The mix of flowers were from a RAK I received, as well as roses from my collection.  I added the cute pillow heart to the mix for fun.  Here's a close up:

I really had the hardest time finishing this off.  I needed something to go on the right side over the heart doily.  It was just too much space, so I punched a couple tags and hand wrote the sentiment, then added a little friend of my own...

"Say hello to my little friend..."  {hahaha}  Sorry I couldn't resist!  I didn't initially come up with the sentiment, but I saw it on a sticker that I had and thought... PERFECT!!  So I hand wrote it and added the three hearts just cause.  {lol}  I thought it was still a bit too white so I added some red butterflies and then I stopped.

I popped on over to see what the latest challenges were at Flutterby Wednesdays and Saturated Canary and lo and behold my card qualifies for both!! Woo Hoo, so I'm going to add it.  Yay!

Mahalo for stopping by!!  Have a fabulous Saturday!!

DTC Sketch Challenge

Hey everyone!!

Are any of you an NCIS fan?  I love the show and am always watching the reruns on tv.  I'd rather watch them more then regular tv.  {hehe}  I just had to share that last night's episode was pretty unexpected but really good.  I still have chills from it!!  If you're a fan you'll know what I'm talking about.  Can't wait to see next weeks although I don't think it will top last night.
Getting back into non-Christmas card mode has been fun.  For my card today  I used the January photo inspiration over at Y&FH to pick the colors I wanted to use.  Click here to check out the details of the new month long challenge going on over at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.   We hope you join us.

I colored up Fumi with Messenger bag for fun and used up some scraps of one of my favorite BG papers.

If I find more of this BG dp I'm getting it!  It's so cute!!  Besides pulling the same colors from the inspiration photo,  I mimicked the slats in the crib's back drop by scoring a piece of white cs every half inch.  Pulled the black & white polka dot paper from one of the banners and added the laser cut sentiment to the bottom.

This layout is actually a sketch from Designed to Color's current challenge.  I think I will enter this card there and also there is an open challenge at FBW.  Just make sure to use a fairy, angel or butterfly.

Alrighty time for me to vamoose!  I might stop by for another share tomorrow. Until then... Mahalo for stopping by!  Have a terrific day!

Leanne

Baby Mia

Good morning!!!

My co-worker/friend Desiree is pregnant with her first baby and she's having a girl!!  We are so excited to meet little Mia and can't wait for her to get here!!  Last month we had a baby shower for her and her DH.  The room was decorated with giant gorgeous balloons made by my co-worker, with cute stuffed animals, the balloons were awesome and sooo cute!!  I will also share those as well, they are too cute not to. Everyone had a wonderful time including mama and papa-to-be.

I wanted to make this card super special, well just because.  {hehe}  I had seen this cute Butterfly baby from Saturated Canary and thought PERFECT!  Pulled papers from Simple Stories, Baby Steps, and lots of dark brown cardstock.  (Be warned there will be a ton of photos and this might be longthy - lol!)  I have to say this is one of my all time favorite cards!  Desiree had the sweetest compliment.  It's a funny story!  She never took the card out of the bag when she opened my present so I thought she hadn't seen it.  :(  After the party and when all the presents were packed away, I told her to make sure she looks inside the card that there was a giftcard inside, she confessed that she was afraid to take it out because she didn't want to mess it up!  {hehe}  She really hadn't seen the card at all!  I told her no worries, it's really sturdy!  The next morning she text messaged me and it was the sweetest compliment!  She loved the card and a few other things.  Totally made my day! :D

You might not be able to tell but it's a HUGE tag card with lots of layers and accents!  Here's a close up of the front of the card featuring Butterfly Baby.  She's so cute!  I colored her using colors from the papers.  Finally tried my hand at some rolled roses which I have always wanted to try thanks to Mary J. She makes them look so easy to make and they do add a feminine touch.  The sentiment is from AmyR.

Another close up of the bottom of the card.  I layered some white lace ribbon and created some buttons out of paper.

Here's a peek at the top of the card.  I used C.C. Cutters mini banners and button set.  The sentiments inside the banners are all handwritten.  I debated on the word "BABY" and "MAMA" and went with BABY, although we've been saying Mama Mia I kinda thought it was a bit cheesy.  {lol}

The ribbon is from my stash and one I've hoarded for quite some time.  Love that it matched my color theme for the outside.  And here is the other banner where I handwrote "MIA".  Tied off the button with some pink and white twine.

Now for the inside of the card, I didn't have enough room for the wings here, so I cut them off so that the sentiment, AmyR, could fit.  Colored her outfit similar to the front, but a different color.

Here's Papa {Justin} & Mama {Desiree} to-be and Baby Mia. :)  I don't think they will mind me sharing.  :)

Check out the flower balloon my co-worker made!! It's huge and so darn cute!!  And do you see the pink giraffe in the corner with the column of balloons underneath?  She found that giraffe and made the column of balloons. Desiree loved it!  We all did!

Here's a close-up of the giraffe, cute yea? :)

Here are a couple more wall flower balloons!!

It was a really lovely party and Desiree had a really good time.  So many cute baby things and you have to check out the adorable bike my crafty buddy Kathy made.  Check out her blog post here.  All of us were in awe and Desiree mentioned she didn't want to take it apart!  I wouldn't want to either.  It was that cute!!  Oh and she has more pictures to share from the shower including the cute favors she made and some of the table center pieces. :)

Oh my, haven't written a long post in a while.  If you've made it to the end,  Thank you very much!!  I hope you enjoyed all the pictures even if you didn't read the captions.  {no worries, I know it's pretty long}  LOL!

I haven't played in a challenge for a while, and I found one of my favorites to play in, Flutterby Wednesday's #221 theme is "New".  My card was for a new baby on the way and I used a new image to me.  There is also a fun music theme going on at Saturated Canary challenges.  I googled Butterfly Baby and found this adorable song by Angelina Perete and her daughter called Butterfly Baby!  Nope, I'm not foolin'!  {hehe}  I've never heard of it, but it's so cute and really catchy!!  You have to check it out.  Perfect song for a mommy & daughter theme.  Gonna send it to Mama Desiree and a few of my other friends. :)

Okee dokes my friends, Mahalo for stopping by!!  Have a wonderful Saturday and hope you do something fun!

Hugs,
Leanne

Wishing you a LOVELY day!

Morning!!

Poppin' in to share a card I started a while back. Hope you're all doing well!

Here is a card I made for an upcoming birthday.  I used Anya Lifts from TGF and I absolutely love her!

I used some bright colors on her outfit and the balloons to match the Bo Bunny Ambrosia paper behind her.  I wanted to do some fun confetti, but it kinda got out of hand so I just had to go with it. I don't know if you can see, but they are mostly sparkly.  It's really hard to see sparkle if you don't have the right sort of camera or lighting, but believe me when I say that there is a lot of sparkle going on here. lol  I also threw in a fun banner using C.C. Design Cutter Corner Banner dies.  The sentiment is from the AmyR Happy Thoughts set and seemed appropriate for my card.

There are a few challenges I'm going to join with this card.  ATS Wednesday Challenges, Danni's Flutter By Wednesday and TGF's FFF.

A reminder that challenge #2 at Yumi & Fumi Handmade ends on Saturday.  Have you submitted your project?  You have a chance at winning a Y&FH stamp or you could possibly be chosen as one of our top 3 and receive your own personalized blog badge.  For all the details click HERE.  Also our store is open and ready for you to stop in, look around and purchase some one-of-a-kind stamps.  If you're looking for Sister Stamps we also sell them.  Come take a look! {Y&FH store}

Flutter By Wednesday #185

Hello!
How's everyone doing this week?  It's been a good start to the week so I'm looking forward to the rest of it.  I did get to Disneyland on Sunday and it was fun.  Not so crowded, which is always a plus.  I'll post the 3 pictures I took at the end.

Before I get to today's post, I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for all your lovely comments on my debut post last week as a new member of the Flutter By Wednesday team.  I really appreciate all your wonderful comments and look forward to fluttering with you all.  ;)  Now let's get to today's challenge at Flutter By Wednesday.  Today we are shaking off the winter blahs and playing with some nice bright colors!  For more details about this week's challenge head on over to the FBW blog.

I chose to do another quick mini calendar.  These are getting to be a fun/favorite of mine.  I chose a fun background with browns and hints of orange & blues.  This time I used a chipboard coaster, courtesy of my LP teammate Cyndi Kim, to create this calendar and used Fairwee Jilly from Sweet November

She's as bright as bright can be!  hahaha!  I tried a different skin tone this time and I think she doesn't look too bad.  With the brightness of her orange dress and her turqoise shoes, she's ready to start off the New Year with pizzazz.  I'm gifting her to my mom's co-worker as a Thank you for always being so nice even when she's having a bad day.  :)

If you're ready to play along with us at Flutter By Wednesday make sure you play by the rules:
  • your entry must have a butterfly, fairy or angel on it
  • when we have a sponsor--like this week- only ONE entry per person.  Danni will remove all extra entries before she chooses a winner.
  • Please leave a direct link to your creation post vs. a link to just your blog, unfortunately those will be removed.
Here are the three pictures I remembered to take while leaving Disneyland.  Sorry I was pretty far away so the first two are pretty blurry.  This was the last day of the Christmas decor.

Sleeping Beauty's Castle all lit up.  My picture does not do it justice.

The Christmas tree at the entrance to Main Street

This was in a window in Downtown Disney.  Had to take a picture of it!

Here's a couple bonus pictures from my trip on Dec. 17:

Pretty Wreath on the tower at Small World

My cousins in front of Small World

Small World at night, all lit up and so pretty!!

It's so pretty during Christmas.  I wish I had remembered to take more pictures! I missed the Haunted Mansion.  It's a pretty cool sight.  The theme is A Nightmare before Christmas based on the Tim Burton book and movie.  Maybe I'll remember later this year.

Fairwee Jilly

Alrighty, time to show off your bright colored creations and remember to use a butterfly, fairy or angel.  Mahalo for stopping by!  Have a fairy bright day!!

Leanne

Today is a very exciting day for four of us.  Karen, Lynette, Suzanne & I are the newest members to flutter with the fabulous DT of Flutter By Wednesdays.  We hope you are inspired by our creations for 2012.  A special shout out to those of you who played in the December challenge.  Thank you so much for your inspirations!!

For our first challenge of 2012 we are being sponsored by Bugaboo Digi Stamps.  For more details on the prize & the rules jump on over to the Flutter By Wednesday blog.  We also have two of the Bugaboo DT members joining us so make sure to head to the FBW blog to see their cute cards and leave them some love.  Michelle & Mary are featured on the Bugaboo challenge blog, so make sure to leave them some love too.  We were lucky enough to receive a cute digi image and sentiment to play with from the talented artist of Bugaboo digi stamps, Jodie.  Today I am using Bugaboo Angel - Anything is Possible.

Bugaboo Angel - Anything is Possible

For my card I decided to go CAS.  Printed her out pretty big and colored her with Copics.  The dp is from DCWV (Countdown to Christmas stack).  The rest is kraft, red and stormy blue cs from Bazzil.  Did some distressing around the image and added some stickles to her wand, belt, heart and bows on her shoes.  I think on the inside of the card I'm going to write, "If you believe."  :)

Mahalo for stopping by, now head on over to Kristie's blog for more wonderful inspirations.  Have a wonderful day and be sure to leave a comment on each of our blogs to let us know what you think.
:)

Hugs,

Lilo's Fun Friday #8

Happy Dec 2nd everyone!  Can you believe we are already into December?  Yikes, time is flying by so fast.  Talking about flying fast, we have been experiencing some crazy winds (100 mph) the past couple of nights.  Power is out at my house and it happened while I was in the middle of finishing the card I'm going to share.  As I was driving in to work there were lots of downed trees and power was out in some areas.  Hopefully the city workers will be able to get things back to "normal" and that they are safe while doing it.

So for today's Fun Friday share, I'm taking a break from Christmas to share another Thank you card featuring Kiyomi from Sister Stamps.  I'm playing along with the new Flutter By Wednesday Challenge which is a recipe: blue, lace, 3 or more flowers and one butterfly.  One of my favorite colors is blue, any kind of blue so this challenge really appealed to me.  I chose Kiyomi because she comes with her very own butterfly.  And I have been wanting to try to add a lacey doily to a card after I saw my Lollipop teammate, Cyndi's card.  Thanks for the inspiration Cyndi! :)

I originally had Kiyomi inside an oval cut out, but then I messed up on her sash and it started to bleed.  I couldn't fix it, so I decided to cut her out.  Easy fix, but I wasted the paper.  (boo!)  Then I had to cut out the butterfly.  I stamped the butterfly on the Hanko cs and glued the colored one on top.  The doily is actually one that I "saved" from lunch at the Double Tree hotel.  If it's clean I save it, I automatically put it in my purse so it doesn't get messed up..  LOL!  Hey who else doesn't do that?  I call it recycling.  hahaha!  The sentiment is handwritten by yours truely and I used a scallop punch and some white ink to decorate it.

I punched out more than the required 3 sakura flowers in black and white.  At first I didn't know what to do with them, that's when the power went out!  hahaha!  I knew I wanted to add them to the top right corner, just couldn't figure out how.  Then I started playing with drawing in some branches with a pencil, (all of this by candlelight).  Once I got it to how I liked it I went over it with a Copic marker and dropped the flowers down.  It was perfect!  I added some pearl pen dots in white to the black flowers and also to the white, then I used a blue Copic marker and colored the white dots on the white flowers blue..  Whew! hahaha!  The only sparkle on this card is the butterfly.  Hope you like.  :)
If you would like to link up any of your projects feel free to use the inlinkz button below to directly link up to your project.  If not, no worries, I'll still try to stop by and visit your blogs.

Mahalo for stopping by! Have a terrific Friday!!

Friendships - Flutter By Wednesday #179

Good morning everyone!
Brrrr!!!  It's been so cold the past couple of nights, and as I write this up, my poor hands are freezing!!  I think I've got about 3 layers of clothing on, and in a sec I'm about to grab a blanket, but I can't type with gloves on so I'll have to stop every so often and blow hot air on to my fingers..   hahaha, sorry just had to share that little tidbit with ya!  hahaha
Soooo, guess who was asked by a certain lovely Flutter By Wednesday coordinator to be a guest designer?  Yep, that would be me.  :)  I was really touched that the lovely and talented Danni Bindel, asked me to participate.  I am so excited to share with you my card for this week's Flutter By Wednesday challenge #179!  This week's challenge is to create a project dedicated to Friendships.  If you are not familiar with the rules here they are:
•Challenge this week is to create using the theme~ Friendship along with your butterfly, fairy or angel
•Once you've created your NEW creation, please leave a direct link using the InLinkz button on the FBW #179 post.
•Danni reserves the right to remove any links not linked properly or that she deems inappropriate!
•Enter your link before midnight (PST) next Tuesday, November 15th, 2011.
•Have fun

Pretty simple & fun yeah?  I think everyone has a card or project in mind for this fun challenge.  And if you need some wonderful inspiration, head on over to the Flutter By Wednesday blog and check out what the design team has for you.  They will surely have some wonderfully fluttery friendship inspirations for ya!  I hope you can join us this week.

Now here's my card featuring a Sara Burrier digital image, Lady of Opal, that I purchased from Crafts & Me.  Fell in love with this image and was so happy to finally get to color her up.  Since it's Fall , I decided to go with fall-like colors.  The layout is super CAS as I just wanted to showcase the image with a few accents here and there.

Isn't she a lovely image?  I love her elf-like features and the beautiful details in her wings.  I had a blast coloring her up with Copics.  I hope you can see the glittery parts.  The leaf is a punch colored with Copics and the sentiment is an AmyR stamp.  Used a combination of Tea Dye and Wild Honey Distress inks for the background.  I thought she would look lovely surrounded by light and I thought I did a pretty good job of showcasing that. The ribbon softened up the card which I was hoping it would do.

Okie dokie, I hope you enjoyed my card I made for this week's Flutter By Wednesday challenge #179.  I am so honored to be a part of the team this week and want to Thank Danni for asking me to join this lovely and talented group of artists.  Thank you Danni!!

Have a wonderful 1/2 way to Friday day!  Mahalo for stopping by!

Hugs,
Leanne
