FFF - Throwback #2 ABC

Hi Everyone!!

Today we are having a fun challenge at the Farm Fresh Challenge blog.  Another throwback contest with a twist.  So you know the first part means break out those older TGF images and the twist is use them on Anything But a Card!  Like that don'tcha?  For all the rules and regulations on which images you CANNOT use please visit the Farm Fresh Challenge blog post HERE.  The list will be at the end of the post.  You can also see all the beautiful projects the design team showcased.  They brought it!!!

I went pretty simple but fun with this altered frame using my favorite of all Anyas, Fleur.

I have to confess that I had made this for a friend's daughter but it got misplaced when I was moving stuff around.  I had already glued on the papers and the number 5.   I was going to use another Anya and didn't have the sentiment yet.  As I was trying to rack my brain with what project I was going to use I came across this.  Ureka!  Since my friend's daughter is not 5 anymore, yes it's been that long since I misplaced the frame,  I decided to finish it and give it to another friend's daughter who is turning 5.  I didn't do too much to it since the paper is so fun and bold.  I added the heart on the bottom.  I haven't thought of a good sentiment for this so if you have any suggestions I would love your input.

Fleur Anya was asking to be inked in brown instead of the normal black so I did just that.  She looks much softer here.  I paper pieced her outfit and the flowers in her hair.  So this did not take me too long to put together.

Alrighty, now it's time to dust off those long lost TGF friends and create your ABC masterpiece.  You have until  noon CST on Thursday to upload your project to the Galleria > Farm Fresh Challenges 2011 > Throwback challenges > Challenge 2.  Don't forget to get the full list of NON-eligible images visit the Farm Fresh Challenge blog post HERE.

Mahalo for stopping by!!  Have fun and a safe 4th of July weekend!!

The Voice, A blog Candy Alert! & 1st card with Clouds

Hi!!  Just poppin' in to share The Voice update, an awesome blog candy alert & my first attempt at background clouds. :)

So were you disappointed about The Voice choice?  I'm not, although I really wanted Dia to win, for team Blake's sake, I'm happy for Javier and team Adam.  If any of them would have won it would have been great.  I did agree that Dia and Javier had the best songs and felt the love from last night's episode.  Loved the duet performances with each of the finalists and their celebrity partners.  I can't wait for the next season, I hear the same coaches are coming back! YAY!!

My first attempt at a card with clouds in the background

I have been seeing wonderful cards with fun clouds in the background popping up here and there around blogland and have been wanting to try my hand at it.  I have been experimenting and think I finally found a trick to it.  Although I went a bit crazy here I like how it turned out.  If you would like to share your tricks on how to create clouds I would love to read them.

This adorable little girl is Kei (with net) from Spesch Designer stamps and is another cute digi I picked up.  I just love her expression!!!  I first colored her with Copics.  To create the clouds in the background I used a punched out cloud stencil, Colorbox pigment ink in Sky blue and a sponge.  I really got lucky, because I didn't mask her and there were no lingering blues on her!  I was experimenting here so if it came out bad it would have been back to the drawing board, or in this case coloring board, but it worked out well!  So what I did was using the stencil I moved it around the image and sponged on the ink around the edges, overlapping all the way down.  Like I said I went a bit cloud crazy, but hey I was experimenting.  She actually looks like she's high up on a mountain top trying to catch butterflies.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  lol..  I also practiced making grass with my Copics.  That was really fun too.  Here is the finished card.  It makes me happy it's so bright!

I can't wait to try either of these techniques again.  I would like to try my hand at less cloud coverage so will definitely practice.  Mahalo for stopping by today!

Leanne

WOW! B&W with a Splash!

Hello everyone!!

I'm back to share with you the new details for another WOW challenge over at the Farm Fresh Challenge blog.  So many awesome projects from last week's sketch challenge flooded the gallery.  I for one am so happy to use random generator to pick a winner.  It would definitely be very hard for me to pick just one to win the prize, they are all so gr8!  Keep em' coming!!

Now let's get to my share of this week's WOW challenge.  I hope you are all ready for a fun color challenge.  If you read the title you might get a hint at it.  Yes, it's another black & white challenge but we're throwing in a "splash."  The splash is any other color of your choosing.  For more fun and inspiration from the very TALENTED design team visit the FFC blog or click HERE to be directly linked.  I am so blessed to be on the same team as those ladies.  They know how to bring it when it comes to inspiration.  I just love them to pieces!! ;)

I chose to go with red as my splash of color.  I don't know if it's because I'm anticipating going to Anime Expo this weekend, but I made another Asian martial arts card, this time featuring the cute Karate Anya.  I originally had her hair orange with darker orange highlights, but I decided to change it up by adding red highlights.  Here she is with her orange locks.

Here she is with her new red locks

I love how much richer she looks because of the darker red high lights.  Here is the rest of my card, which has splashes of dark red to go with the black and white.  So Asian yea?  hehehe..

Well I hope this inspires you play along again.  Don't forget to use black & white with a splash of another fun color.  Go bold or go soft.  Change it up, but most of all HAVE FUN!!

The W.O.W. challenge is open until Tuesday; entries are due by 12 pm CST.  The winner is chosen by random draw and wins a free digi of choice!  Please upload your challenge cards/projects to TGF Galleria > Farm Fresh Challenges 2011 > Which One Wednesday > Color Splash

Challenges that I qualify for:
M4M - red hair challenge - 7/10 - Happy to report I was top 4!! So awesome!! Click here to see in what awesome company I am with.

On a side note, tonight (Tuesday) is the anticipated finale of The Voice.  I am so torn as to who I want to win!! It will definitely depend on how everyone performs.  All I know is that it will be a gr8 show!!  Either one of the finalists could be considered The Voice, they are all that talented.
Have a fantastic day!!

Leanne

Mystery Monday with... Kris!

Happy Monday everyone!  Hope you all had a fabulous weekend.  Thank you all for your wonderful messages.  I am truly inspired by you all and to hear the same is true of me is very heart-warming.  Big hugs to all of you!!

Ok, now enough of the mushy stuff, and on to this week's CASE.  It was my choice this week to pick the card and I think I chose a terrific one.  This is by the fabulously talented Krista Palakiko!  I loved the choice of the three colors, the cute Amelia choice and the fun accents.  This layout was a fun one too.  Lots of layering which is something I like.

Isn't this sweet?  I thought so, very soft even with the black accents.  She used a lot of bling which is always fun and girly.  This was also one of the cards she created for the TGF Cards for a Cause last year.  To see the wonderful inspirations from the DT please click HERE.  Here is how I case'd Krista's card.

I went summery and used the colors from the patterned paper.  Now it's your turn to play.  And have fun with it.

The Monday CASE Contest runs until Sunday, entries are due by 12 pm CST.

The winner is chosen by random draw and will win a free TGF single stamp of choice.

Please post your cards in the TGF Galleria - Home > Farm Fresh Challenges 2011 > Mystery Mondays > Kris4rmmaui

Some Graduation cards

Happy Saturday!!
Just popping in to share some graduation cards I made for some special friends.

The first two cards were for my brothers girlfriend who graduated from CSUN and she is planning to be an elementary school teacher.  So both cards feature the happiest grad ever, Graduation Anya

The first card was a lot of fun to make, especially using the October Afternoon schoolhouse paper.  The colors were bright, but the patterns were fun!  Truly inspired by her becoming a teacher.

The second card is more formal and definitely sweet.  I love the stripes and constrast in colors with the white bringing everything to life.   The layout is one that I have used in the past, and it's simple and fun.   What you don't see is that I made it into a fun easel card with a pocket to put a message or giftcard in.

Here is what it looks like opened. This one is a little bit of a formal one compare to the other one, but still fun with that cutie pie.

And lastly, my friend just graduated earning his MBA.  He said he no longer has to worry about going back to school..  He's so lucky!! hahaha.  For this card I went really simple using the school colors (Cal Poly Pomona) and coloring his cap and gown black.  I also added some gold paper.  I also had another body swap with WS-Daniel and Grad Ian.  Love this combo.
I used the Congrats embossing folder (Cuttlebug) for the background and to make it a little formal I added some photo tabs.  Here is the front of the card:
Love how the gold paper adds that little formal feeling.  And can you believe I also made an inside for the card?  Yep, here is what I did on the inside:
That's all I have for today.  Hope you are all having a great day, and I am going to make sure I come and visit your blogs.  Mahalo for taking time out of your busy life to see what I've been up to.  I really appreciate it.  :)
Hugs,
Leanne

FFF - July 4th

To get to my COPICal blog hop post, please click HERE!

***********

Happy Friday everyone!!
Today over at the Farm Fresh Challenge blog we are celebrating July 4th!  Make sure you stop by the Farm Fresh challenge blog to see what the other ladies on the DT have to inspire and amaze you with.

Now as you know I already did my tribute to July 4th as one of my favorite holidays.  So today I wanted to share a different kind of July 4th tradition I started with 4 of my friends a couple of years ago.  If any of you are familiar with Anime, you will probably know what I am talking about.  Like I mentioned, for the past couple of years my friends and I have been attending Anime Expo, it's like CHA, but all devoted to Anime, Manga and that genre.  It's such a fun convention, because most of the people dress up as their favorite anime characters.  You get to meet a lot of artists who make their living off of drawing as well as meeting some of the artists who create the programs.  Yes, most of these are cartoons, but I have no problem with that because I will always be a kid a heart.   One of my favorite anime series is called BLEACH

Described by Wikipedia: The main character is a 15-year old boy named Ichigo Kurosaki.  He becomes a Shinigami, aka soul reaper or Death God, after he is given the powers by another Shinigami, Rukia Kuchiki.  As a human he is a regular teenage boy, but when he is called in to action his soul becomes the Shinigami form and this is how he is able to help the departed souls find their way to the afterlife.  He is all about the under dog and defending the helpless.  Doesn't always conform to the "rules" of the Soul Society, the leaders of the Shinigami, but he is always the one that everyone goes to.  Can you imagine being a 15-year old with that kind of responsibility?  I love the adventures, the storyline, the images and just the overall series.
Bleach is a Japanese shōnen manga series written and illustrated by Noriaki "Tite" Kubo. Bleach follows the adventures of Ichigo Kurosaki after he obtains the powers of a Soul Reaper (死神 Shinigami?, literally, "Death God") —a death personification similar to the Grim Reaper—from another Soul Reaper, Rukia Kuchiki. His newfound powers force him to take on the duties of defending humans from evil spirits and guiding departed souls to the afterlife.

Ichigo Kurasaki
So for my share I chose to go as close to Ichigo as I could.  Featuring Kendo Chibi with a semi-Ichigo colored hairstyle, he is ready to do battle against an evil demon.  Ready to turn his Zanpakto, sword or main weapon of a Shinigami, in to it's ultimate form, he yells the word, "BANKAI!"
A Zanpakutō (斬魄刀; literally, soul-cutter sword) is the main weapon of the Shinigami.
Unfortunately it does not cooperate, but turns into a Kendo stick instead.  That's why he looks upset! hahaha!  Thought I'd make this one a funny one.

What I thought was cool was that the colors of the Bleach logo are red, white & blue!  So it sorta does tie in to the July 4th interpretation, just in a different way. ;)  I tried to create the sentiment to match the Bleach logo, not too bad.. hahaha..

Okie dokie, enough fun for me, now it's time for you to create your own 4th of July theme.  Can't wait to see what you create!!  And as always, have fun with it.  I sure did!  :)

Please upload your project by Thursday, 12 pm CST.  The winner will receive a free TGF image of choice.  Upload your card to TGF Gallery>Farm Fresh Challenges 2011> Farm Fresh Friday>4th of July.

Mahalo for stopping by, have a wonderful Friday!!
Hugs,
Lilo

Thanks!

I am by no means an expert colorist, but I have learned from other bloggers some helpful and fun techniques along the way.  This is the best thing about this crafty blogging world, people love to share their ideas and their experiences.  What also helps is practicing.  What's that saying?  Practice makes perfect?  Well I don't know about perfect, but it sure does help.  (hehe)  So here is what I made for the hop, I call it "Hide & Seek":

Hide & Seek with Lidia and Friends
I love how my card turned out.  I actually used one image and the rest is paper!  I found that BG paper at Michael's.  I had to grab it it was just too cute to pass up.  I also found that adorable image on the Spesch stamps store.  I just love her!!  Her name is Lidia created by Suzui, one of the talented artists at Spesch stamps and you can purchase her HERE as a digital image.  I did color her with Copics, and I really had so much fun with it.  I chose browns for her hair, which incidently is also the current challenge at M4M.  And for her dress, I used some wonderful reds and oranges.  I colored in her eyes, first time for me and I love how they turned out.  (Sorry you are probably wondering what is she talking about?  Well I had to actually draw and color the inside of the eyes as the digital image itself is just a blank circle)  Here is a close up of Lidia, she's just adorable.

I sprinkled some pearls here and there and colored them with different colored Copics.  Lastly, I wrote in a few fun words & phrases in and around the card because I didn't want to cover any of the beautiful paper.  Here are a few close-ups:

Your next stop on the hop is JANET you will so enjoy her creation and inspiration...

Mahalo for stopping by!  Have a colourful day & enjoy the HOP!!
Hugs,
Leanne

Hey Friends!
Happy Wednesday!  Hope you are having a great week so far.  It's starting out to be a busy week at work for me so I am going to try and get around to visiting everyone soon.  For now, I wanted to share today's WOW challenge over at the Farm Fresh Challenge blog.  We are back with a sketch by our captain Rachel.  Here is this week's WOW challenge sketch:

She's got some pretty cool ideas for sketch layouts dont'cha think?  I feel you nodding and I agree!  hehehe.  To see what the creative and inspirational DT has come up with please click HERE.  Here's how I interpreted the sketch:

I played around again with body switching, can't get enough of it, and came up with this Creeper Kid switch. Wednesday is not only rockin' the red & pink hair she's also way happy to be out of the school uniform. hehehe  With school out for the summer this little gal is ready to toss the books and get some fun in.
Hope you get a chance to play with this week's sketch.  It's such a fun one, common' ya know you wan'na..  hahaha!

MM - Embark on a new Journey...

Hello and a happy Monday to you all!  Sorry my post is late, but I had a bit of a block trying to finish my card.  I got stuck on the flowers.  Not sure yet if I like the combo or not, but will keep it for now.  I'd like to share today's FFC-MM pick now.  This week Tasha chose an adorable card.  To see what the DT chose to do with today's MM case, click HERE.  Now here is this week's pick created by Paula.

O how I wish I had that set of stamps, but it is no longer in the shop. Boo!!  Anyhoos, enough about my woes.. lol..  Isn't her card cute?!  I loved the color combo and the fun scene she created with piggy and the balloons.  Since I don't have that particular stamp I went with another one that I thought would go perfectly.  She is the elephant from the Showtime set, which is also discontinued.  Here is a close up of this cutie pie.

I wanted to keep my card in the same colors keeping the fun balloon theme was also my goal.  I had the hardest time with the cloud background.  At first I tried to color it in, but it was horrid!  So I went super easy and punched out some clouds and put them on the blue dp.  So much better.  I used black sewing thread for the strings.  There is a lot of sparkle highlighting different parts of the card, the clouds, the balloons and her bottoms.  And lastly is the fun sentiment.  I thought it was the perfect saying for this fun card.

Alrighty, now it's your turn!  Remember in order to be eligible for the prize, a TGF image of choice, you must upload your project to the GF Gallery>Farm Fresh Challenge 2011>Mystery Monday>Paula by Sunday, 12pm CST.  The winner will be chosen at random.  So good luck and happy creating!!

Mahalo for stopping by and for your patience.  Have a wonderful Monday friends!!
Hugs,
Leanne

Fourrrrrr!...

Hello Friends!!  Happy Sunday and Happy Father's Day!!
I'm popping in for a quick post to share this CAS card I made for my dad.  He's an avid golfer and likes it so much that he works at a golf course at least 2 times a week.  So this card was a no-brainer for me.  Yep, I decided to go with a golf theme, but made it very simple.  I used punches, embossing folders, and chose a neutral color palette.  I have been enjoying seeing a lot of other crafters creating CAS cards and I have been wanting to give it a go.  I know my dad will appreciate it because he's a simple kind of guy.

I hope you can see the dimples in the golf ball, else it'll just look like a white ball in the grass.  Other than the picture quality, I am pretty happy with how this turned out.  CAS is a little hard to do for me, but again I'm happy with the result.

Alrighty, I hear my dad outside, so gonna put this guy in an envelope so he doesn't see it before we give it to him.  Have a wonderful Sunday friends and I hope you come back tomorrow for my FFC MM inspiration card.
Mahalo for stopping by!!
Hugs,
Leanne

"Twinkle Twinkle Little Star...

how I wonder where you are..."

Hello Friends and Happy Friday!!

Today over at the Farm Fresh Challenge blog we have a super fun challenge.  Time to get SENTIMENTAL with your projects.  What exactly does that mean?  Well we want to see you incorporate sentiments into your project along with the TGF image of course.   You can even use a TGF sentiment as long as we can recognize that it is a TGF stamp that's all that counts.  To see how the DT got SENTIMENTAL click HERE.

Here's how I got sentimental with my card.  I used a few sentiment stamps as a background for the front of my card and behind Super Hero Ian.

If you didn't recognize him it's because I took him out of his super hero suit and placed him in a sleeper for this baby boy card I created for my co-worker.  I paper pieced his outfit and colored him with Copics.  I first stamped and colored him up then I masked him and using different baby boy sentiment stamps I created the background paper.  I love how it turned out.

I used sketch #5 over at The Deconstructed Sketch blog by the fabulous Jen Shults.   Her card was so cute I had to try and case it.  Here was my attempt at it.  I loved the way she played with the twine and the layout.  I added some fun stars and stickles here and there.  Over all I love how this turned out and will probably use this sketch again.

Ok, I would love to see how sentimental you all get.  Here are the details for today's FFF challenge:

Please upload your project by Thursday, 12 pm CST.  The winner will receive a free TGF image of choice.  Upload your card to TGF Gallery>Farm Fresh Challenges 2011> Farm Fresh Friday>Sentimental.

Mahalo for stopping by today.  Have a fabulous Friday friends and say hi to someone you don't normally say hi to.  You never know, you just might make their day. :)

Hugs,
Lilo
