Y&FH Challenge #4 - Emboss it!

Hey everyone!!

Happy Sunday!! Today starts a new bi-weekly challenge at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  This week Rosie wants us to emboss our projects.  Whether its dry or wet create that cool look with some fun embossing folders, or some cool colored embossing powders.  Hop on over to the Y&FH blog to see what embossing technique the DT used on their projects then create your own and link up with us.  Don't forget to follow the rules when you play along. Check the challenge page for all the details.

I personally love embossing.  I love when you put paper between two pieces of plastic and then squish it through a machine and it creates a really cool effect to the paper.  I also love using fun stamps, pigment inks and fun embossing powders to give that wet look to plain paper.  Let's see what I have for you today...

It's another tag featuring Yumi with Book from our Back 2 School collection.  Went with some dry embossing because I was crunched for time.  The embossing folders I used are both from Cuttlebug.  One is my favorite, Swiss Dots, the other is an Argyle pattern.  I added in two thin strips of black and white polka dot washi tape.  She was a lot of fun to color in pinks and blacks.  I think I'd love to have pink hair if I could pull it off.  LOL!!  Maybe for Halloween, we'll see.

Hope you can join us for this week's bi-weekly challenge.  There is no prize this time but you can be in the running for our top 3 and that comes with a pretty awesome personalized badge to display on your blog for all to see.

Hoping to go to J-Town today for a crafts fair and good food.  If not, I'll be doing some laundry and crafting the day away.  Have a terrific Sunday everyone and Mahalo for stopping by!!

Hugs,
Leanne

LFF #41 - September SSS

Happy Aloha Friday everyone!

Hoping you had a great week and if it wasn't hoping this weekend will cure that!

For today's Lilo's Fun Friday share I have a card I made for my September SSS, Kathy.  I was pretty excited that she was my SS for this month because well, she's just that, a secret crafty sister.  Ok so maybe she's a SCS, but either way she's pretty awesome.  Check out her blog and if you aren't a follower you should be.  She has a lot of fun ideas and is always coming up with great projects.  It was only fitting that I used the new Sister Stamps BFFs for her card. She's generous and so giving.  I know that I can always ask for something and she never says no.

There is no dp used here.  Instead I used my wildflower background stamp and my newest Memento inks (new sprout, summer sky) to create this fun backdrop.  After inking up all the papers I distressed the paper with the ink pads.  You can't quite tell but I added some Stickles to the ends of the flowers.  Looks pretty IRL.  The paper with the BFFs stamped and colored is actually a small card.  The two flowers on the bottom are not only decorative but help to keep the card closed.  On the inside I stamped Hugs with an AmyR sentiment stamp...

From the same group of stamps I stamped the sentiment on the front of the card.  This one has some great words to use.  I added some other fun stuff to send to her.  Hope she likes.

Next I wanted to share my September SSS card from Miyuki Noon.  She made me this adorable Fleur Anya card with an aloha feel to it.  I also got some fun crafty accessories to play with.  Mahalo Miyuki!!

I wonder who my October SSS will be?  If you'd like to be a part of these funs swaps then head on over to Kris' blog and sign up for October.

Happy Aloha Friday everyone!! Have a terrific weekend and as always, Mahalo for stopping by!!

Lilo

Happy Birthday Joanna!

Happy Thursday everyone!!

Today over at the Lollipop Crafts blog we are celebrating Joanna's birthday!!  Joanna, wishing you a blessed birthday, with lots of hugs, kisses, fun and fond memories!  Happy Birthday!!  In honor of her birthday I'm sharing this birthday card I made using Anya Treats from The Greeting Farm.

I used Kim Yu's sketch for September along with some background stamps and some vintagy colors.  I went with another short bob hair style especially with the hat she's wearing and the color scheme, they all really seemed to work well.  Matted all the panels with dark chocolate brown cs and found some matching ribbon.  I colored the pearls on the top with a Copic marker to match the rest of the card.

This is a shot of the panel with the sentiment.  I used a couple CTMH sentiment stamps this time, love the font.  If you look real close you can see the shine on the hearts.  I used a little glossy accents for that.  You can probably see it a lot better here...

Gonna have to add this girl to my favorites list, she's so fun!  If it's your birthday today, well then Happy Birthday!!  Wishing you a blessed day as well.  Take care and Mahalo for stopping by!!  Have a fantastic cupcake filled day!! : )

Lilo's Fun Friday #40

Happy Aloha Friday everyone!!

I'm over at Renate's and we are working on the last details before we trek to Sacramento.  Looks like we are not getting any sleep, so who else is awake with us?  My sistas from Hawaii?!! Gimme a holla!  hehehe...

For today's LFF #40 share I have one of the first Sister Stamps playing on my card.  Say hello to Kiyomi and her little friend.
I've always wanted to do this masking technique, so decided to give it a go. First I stamped the cherry blossom background using different shades of Fall colored Distress inks.  Next I used an oval Spellbinder die to cut out that shape and using removable tape adhered it to the center of the card.  Next I used more Distress ink and went around the card. When I was satisfied I removed the oval in the center and ta-da!!  A nice white frame perfect for Kiyomi and her butterfly friend.  The rest of the card came together pretty fast and I found the perfect sentiment to go with. Thanks AmyR for always having the right saying when I need one.

Alrighty time for me to get back to work.  Hope you all have a terrific Aloha Friday!!   Mahalo for stopping by!!

Hugs,
Lilo

30 Seconds to Mars - TGF Style

Hello!!

Today I wanted to share a card my co-worker asked me to make for her.  Her sister's b-day was yesterday and she asked if I could make a card using some images that resemble the band, 30 Seconds to Mars.  I have to admit, I've never heard of this band, but one of it's members is a pretty familiar face.  She forwarded me different pictures and from there I thought some of the TGF boys would be perfect!  After we consulted with each other we picked the 3 boys that closely resembled the group.  Here is a picture of the band:

Now here are is the TGF version of this band.  Let's see if you can guess who we picked:

First from left to right: Jeremy & Flirty Edward from the Roll Call kit & lastly CC. Sunday.  I kept the card very simple, per request, but still had some fun with it.  The paper is from Basic Grey which I distressed with black soot.  It has a really cool design with the music notes.  I normally would keep the inside pretty plain, but I had some time so I did another simple design there too.

It's pretty much the same design, without a stamped image or sentiment.  To create the card I used a Spellbinder scalloped rectangle.  I really love how this turned out!  I am happy to say so was my co-worker.  Yay!!  It's always nice to satisfy the customer, now just need to hear if her sis liked it or not.  Either way I think it's a cool card.

Before I say g'nite, I just wanted those of you who live in the Sacramento area to know that Yumi & Fumi Handmade will be at the Rubber Stamp Convention on Saturday, 9/22.  We hope you get a chance to stop by and say hello!

Mahalo again for stopping by.  I hope you all have a terrific week!

Hugs,
Leanne
