Kitty Bee Designs - CH #6 Mid Inspiration

Happy Aloha Friday everyone!

Today, the Bees are sharing our mid-inspirations for the current Aloha Friday challenge over on the Kitty Bee Designs blog.  Please stop over and see what the rest of the Bees are up to.  A reminder that you still have time to play in the current challenge:

CHALLENGE #6
HAPPY BIRTHDAY

For my share, I made two very CAS cards featuring the adorable Pleasantly Surprised Bear digi

Birthday card
Isn't this image adorable? I love how the bear is peeking out of the gift box! Also looks like he's wearing a hat.  hehe. Super cute!

I used white Neenah cardstock for the base and embossed it with a Sizzix polka dot folder.  Added a strip to the bottom and stamped the "happy birthday" sentiment using a Paper Smooches clear stamp.  Colored the bear and gift box with Copics and used the 0 marker to make the polka dots on the gift.

Mini Birthday card
I printed out two images, one slightly bigger than the other.  I was planning on making another card/tag set, but had a scrap of leftover white cardstock big enough to make a smaller version of the card.  So I mimicked this card to the first one.  I reversed the colors on the image and love how the ribbon turned out.  Again I colored with Copics and taking the 0 marker I added the polka dots.  The sentiment was handwritten.

Birthday card & Mini B-day card
Here is what the cards look like side-by-side.  The bear is so cute it really doesn't need anything more than a nice embossed backdrop.  I'm sure I'll be using this image over and over for many more birthday, anniversary or celebration cards and projects.

Well that's all for me.  Make sure you head on over to the KBD blog and directly link up your project at the original post from last week (8/16).  Make sure to follow the rules or else Kel will have to delete it.  That would be a total bummer!

Mahalo for stopping by today!  Have a fantastic Aloha Friday!

Hugs,

Aloha with Ani

Good morning!

Hope you all had a great weekend.  Mine was spent mostly at home either on the computer or at my desk (the dining room table) making cards.  I did quite a few this weekend including some CAS cards for Mother's Day that I'll share later in the week.   But for today I'm sharing this card I created with Ani from Saturated Canary

Love this image and so happy I finally got to color her and put her on a card...  Now you might be wondering, what's going on with her hair, yea?  Well instead of the nice straight hair she has I wanted to actually try to make her look Polynesian, which means more of a coarse, curly, frizzy style.  Not so sure I accomplished it, but it does give it a different feel than the original straight hair and I actually like it.  Colored her with a slight tan and did some fun masking on her pareo with a monstera leaf punch.  The fun part was not the clouds or the ocean, but the sand!  Yep that's real sand under her feet!  The product is called Mudd Puddles, Tahiti Beach and comes in a variety of different colors and types.  I purchased it at the last stamp convention along with some other products that I hope to test soon.  Here's a close-up:

Because the image and scene take up so much of the card I went with one flower on top.  The card base is blue cardstock, on top of that is dp from Crafts n' Craftin' Surf's Up, love that green & white print.  The flower was colored with Copics first and then die cut using the small and large flowers from Cheery Lynn Designs (#C184).  The stamen is a punched brown cs and held there with a super mini brad from SU.  For the clouds I used my own stencil, Distress inks (Tumbled glass) and for the water added a touch of Evergreen bough.  The little strip of sand is Vintage photo ink.

There is a new challenge up at the Saturated Canary blog (All thing bright and beautiful) and to me this qualifies.  I hope you enjoyed my share today.  I really had a lot of fun putting this together including spreading the sand.  Next time I think I'll try it a different way instead of the way I did it but for now I love how this turned out.  :)  Mahalo for stopping by today.  I hope you have a wonderful Monday!!

Good Luck ;)

Hello!

Hope you all are enjoying your Saturday.  I have a card to share featuring an oldie from The Greeting Farm.  Here's WS - Elena and she's wishing you Good luck ;)

I had a lot fun with this card.  Coloring her was great fun too.  I used Copics V04 & V17 to color her hair.  For her outfit & sunglasses I used Copics N5-N7.  The dp is from the MME "Unforgettable" 6x6 paper pad, kraft from Recollections and the charcoal is from Hanko Designs.  I case'd Sandie's card which is the current challenge over at Yumi and Fumi Handmade.  Used several dies including Spellbinders, CC Cutters, Martha Stewart and Marvy Uchida.  The ticket stamp was altered a bit.  After inking it up I wiped away the sentiment and used a different sentiment from Paper Smooches.  The twine is from Michael's and the crocheted ribbon is from The Ribbon Carousel.  Last things added are some pretty cabachon flowers.  Here's a close-up of the right side with the ticket and hearts, yes there's a tiny butterfly inside the heart...

I'm planning to play in a few of the current challenges at The Greeting Farm.  The Retro Fresh Hearts Galore challenge and the Farm Fresh Friday, Flowers challenge.  I wish I could play in the Yumi and Fumi Handmade challenge because this card and image certainly qualify and the prize is awesome!  Speaking of Yumi and Fumi Handmade, we're now on Pinterest and if you haven't come to like us on Facebook, come on by.  I think I'll also share this on the DTC FB page for non-traditional hair colors.

Mahalo for stopping by in your busy schedules.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!  Now it's on to the next project...
Hugs,
Leanne
