I have some good news. Our electricity came back on! Yahoo! Thankful that our DWP workers got it done and we only had to spend one night in the dark. Thank you for your wonderful comments of support. Now if only it will get warmer. Being a So Cal gal I am not used to this cold weather. But I'm suckin' it up because I know there are other states under snow and they aren't complaining. :)
I was pretty busy yesterday taking advantage of the light and made a few cards. I wanted to share one of them today. This is a Christmas card I made using a non-Christmas image. I have loved coloring these images in Christmassy colors. It's all about the colors if you want to change the image to your theme. Also paper helps. :) The image, Annie's card, is from Tiddly Inks.
I added an AmyR sentiment and some holly to the inside of the card. Colored her with Copics. The dp is from last year's DCWV, Countdown to Christmas by Christy Lyle stack. You can't tell, but both the red and white polka dot dp and the green dp in the background are both embossed and glittery. Love this stack of papers.
The mistletoe on the top left is a die from C.C. Designs and the holly leaves are a MS punch. I added more holly to the right side of the card plus a sheer gold ribbon to anchor the holly branch. Dotted some ice white pearl pen liquid to the lacey circle border. Also added the same liquid to the mistletoe for a little fun effect. Distressed the holly leaves, the inside of the circle with the image and the kraft colored border papers to give it a vintage feel. Love how the vintage photo ink gives the kraft paper that warm tone and pop. The color combo of reds, greens and browns came together so well and adding the gold and dark green gives it a different contrast.
You'll probably see a few more cards with the same color scheme from me. I'm really loving the color combo, especially that lighter green color. Here is a shot of the inside of the card. After I put it together, I told myself, it would look good as it's own card, so quick and easy, especially with those awesome AmyR sentiments.
I think I'll make some clean and simple with sentiments only for my mom's co-workers. I have a good supply of AmyR sentiments and with a layout like this it shouldn't take me too long to whip some up.
Hugs,
Leanne
