Happy Halloween Treats

Hello and Happy Halloween!!

Popping in real quick to share some treat tags I made using the cute Meoples Witches & Goblins from ATS.  They made the cutest little tags for some gummi candies I picked up at Disneyland.  I purchased the digital images instead of the rubber stamps because I wanted to be able to shrink them down to small tag sizes.  I made 12 in all.

Please disregard the mess. I didn't have time to beautify the scene as I was already a little late for work. (lol)  Each tag is different from other.  I was able to use my SU punches for some of them and only had to use a couple Spellbinders for the bigger ones.  I handwrote Happy Halloween on all of them.

Here's a little close-up of the treats and tags all in a row.  And below is another picture of the treats at work.  Yes, that one little girl has candy corn hair! hahaha!!

We are having a fun challenge over at the Lollipop Crafts blog and the theme is Halloween Treats Anything but a card.  These tags definitely qualify and they were super easy to make.

Have a safe and fun Halloween and becareful while driving especially tonight.  Mahalo for stopping by!!

CAS fun Kigurumi style

Good morning everyone...

Sending out prayers to our East Coast friends and families.  I've been watching the news for the past couple hours and it's so heartbreaking to see the devastation.  My heart and thoughts go out to those affected.  Keep safe everyone.

Wanted to share a couple CAS cards using the wonky rectangles and reverse wonky rectangles Spellbinders and two characters from the Y&FH Kigurumi Kids series.  I guess you could say these could be mistaken for Halloween cards because of the colors but I didn't add any sentiments so they could possibly be used for other events.  First up is Chasezilla, and no I'm not teasing him with treats this time.  Although he might be thinking of treats. (hehe)

He's probably my favorite as I've already made 3 cards with him.  But how can you resist, he's so cute!  I distressed the edges to give him a green glow and colored him with Copics.  Love how he turned out.  Used colors (G99, G94, YG93) I just bought the other day and love how it came together.  The black cs was dry embossed to give it a little texture.  Next up is cutie pie Fumi Panda.

Doesn't she look awesome?!  Love how the orange glow gives her that wow factor!!  Colored her with Copics and I already see a couple flaws! Eep, but it's ok, the rest of it turned out pretty cool right?  lol!  The area around her was distressed as well to give her that awesome glow.  Dry embossed the black cs for some texture.

You can purchase both Fumi Panda & Chasezilla at the Yumi & Fumi Handmade store.  The current challenge at the Y&FH blog is Bring the Bling.  Pop on over to check out the details and get some inspiration.  Who knows you might be asked to be a future Guest Designer.

Tomorrow is Halloween and I'm still not sure if I'll dress up or not.  If I had that panda suit or godzilla suit I would have.  Hmm... there's always next year.  Well that's all I have for today.  Have a great Tuesday and let's all say a prayer for family and friends on the East Coast.

Mahalo for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Shanna!

Hey!!
Popping in again to share another card, and no it's not a Halloween card. (hehehe)  Before I do, would Karen & Denice please email me (quikhonu34(at)yahoo(dot)com) your snail mail?  I'm sending you both a "treat" for playing along with my LFF #43 fun.

Now on to the birthday card...  My cousin Shanna celebrated her birthday last week and since my mom was going for a visit I sent it with her.  I wish it was me delivering the card to her as I've missed her a lot.  She text messaged me on Saturday and told me she loved it.  So now, I'm going to share it with you all.

I used the beautiful Analinda from Crafts & Me for this card.  She reminded me of Shanna.  I used Copics to color her.  Kept the layout of the card pretty simple leaving all the focus on the image.  I added clouds to the backdrop behind her and love how they come through on her wings.  It's been fun getting to color images that I've had for a while and put them on a card.

Wishing I was there to celebrate with her, but knowing that she liked the card is just as good.  Thanks again for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day!!

Happy Howl-oween!

Hey everyone!!

Hope you all had a great weekend!!  Can you believe it's almost November?  Just a couple more days and we are there!  Wow, I better get going on my Christmas cards else I'll be doing what I did last year... Scrambling to get them done without any sleep!!  EEK!

Well don't want to think about anything now except more Halloween fun.  Over the weekend I went to Joann's and they were having a sale on Tim Holtz Sizzix dies, so I grabbed a few and had to use one of them right away for this Howling Halloween card...

Meet Jo Jo the Werewolf from Sweet November.  I colored him up with Copics.  The rest of the card was all Distress inks and dies. The tree was the Tim Holtz die I bought from Joann's.  After I cut it out I kept the negative of it and used it to make a shadow on the card.  Here is a picture of what it looked like with the moon and clouds.

Pretty spooky yah?  muahhhhahaha....  This next picture is of the actual die cut tree that I sponged with Distress Inks walnut stain and black soot.  I moved it over a bit so it looks like there is a shadow being cast on to the tree from the full moon.

By adding a fun sentiment, a creepy fence (WOJ picket fence), some bats and that big crow (Spellbinders) this turned out to be a pretty spooky yet fun Howl-o-ween card. hehehe...

Couple more days till Halloween, anyone going to dress up? Me?  Hm... I'm not sure yet.  If I do I'll let you knooooooowwwwwww.  (hehehe)

Mahalo for stopping by today.  You all know how much I appreciate your kind words and support.  I hope to be able to do more blog hopping soon.  Take care and have a great day!!

Y&FH Bring the Bling Challenge

Hey Everyone!!

Today is Saturday and that means a new challenge at Yumi & Fumi Handmade!  This bi-weekly challenge is sure to bring all of you in.  Rosie wants us to "Bring the Bling!"  Now I'm not too much of a blingy girl so I had to ask my team what exactly does that require?  They all had the same answer: "STICKLES & GEMS!" (lol!)  I took their advice and hopefully made them proud...

Here's another Halloween card and this time I used Yumicorn because I thought she would love to be all sparkly and dress-up is her favorite thing to do.  I also heard she was looking foward to going to the local pumpkin patch.  She's dressed in her Halloween blacks and her horn and wings were specially selected for this fun holiday.  She's got black gems on her outfit and her horn is sparkly to match her pretty wings.  She's so lucky because she's found some pumpkins and boy are they stylish with all that bling!!  I know it's sooo hard to tell what is sparkling right?  So here's another shot at a different angle...

I chose the best paper for this challenge I think.  LOL!  The only thing that is not sparkly on this page is the stickers (but they are shiney from the silver letters) and her black outfit.  I'm so happy with this card!!  Now make sure to stop by the Y&FH blog to see the other blingy creations created by our fabulous design team.  I am in awe at how wonderful all their blingy creations are.

Mahalo for stopping by and I hope you come and play in our challenge.

Lilo's Fun Friday #43 - Trick or Treat!

Happy Aloha Friday everyone!!

Ho, I'm really late in posting, but couldn't be helped.  Had to come in to work super early and didn't get a chance to pre-post.  I have a little bit of time right now so this might be a short post!  Anyhoos, I hope you are all having a fantastic Aloha Friday!  For LFF #43 I'd like to share a treat bag tag I made last night.

My first attempt and although the colors clash I don't think it's too bad.  Especially with Yoko as the image.  That green piece of paper was left over from a project that I finished and was the only one that made Yoko pop.  Yoko is one of the older Sister Stamps and one of my favorites.   I thought it would be fun to show her "fishing" for candy corn! hahaha!!  Well that was the only treat bag theme I had.  Looks like she's caught a big one too! hehehe...Aww, it's too cute to eat! hahaha!!  Yes this was a Copic marker creation.  Used two different markers and a multiliner and added Stickles for fun.

Here's a close up of the tag.  I fussy cut Yoko after coloring her with Copics.  I sniped off the string and origami crane and replaced it with black floss and my handmade candy corn.  I rounded the corners and distressed the edges of the card.  The sentiment is handwritten with a black Copic marker.

I'm hoping to send this to my Secret Sister for October just gotta find some good treats to stick inside.  If you were my secret sister what kine candy would you like?  Leave me a comment with what choice of treat you would like if you were my Secret Sister for October and I'll randomly choose someone to get a treat from me.  Nope, that's not a trick. :)  Unfortunately if you don't participate you will not be counted so if you'd like a chance to win play along.  I'll post the winner on Monday.

Have to say I had fun creating this Halloween project with a non-traditional Halloween image.  If you'd like to order Yoko from Sister Stamps click here.  Alrighty my friends old and new, that's all I have for today.  I hope you have a fabulous Aloha Friday and a terrific weekend!!  Mahalo for stopping by!!

A Bewitching Halloween card

Morning!!

Popping in for a quick share.  I finished another Tiddly Inks Halloween card this time using the gorgeous Bewitching clear stamp.  This stamp set was a real treat for me as I received it as a freebie from the most talented Christy along with my other clear stamps order.  Not only is she super talented but super generous!!  Thanks so much Christy!! :)

I had a lot of fun with this one.  For someone who doesn't do many Halloween cards I'm sure having fun making them.  lol!  Here's my second card with a touch of red and a bit of sparkle.

I used several pieces of dp from an older K&Company Halloween paper pad and matted it all with black cardstock.  Used the deckled rectangle Spellbinders and a MS spider web border punch.  Decided to give the edges and the inside image some color with Distress ink in black soot.  The spiders and sentiment come with this gorgeous image.  Added the crow on top to mimic the crow she's holding.  To counter balance I added the two red flowers.

She's colored with Copic markers and just for fun I gave her a bright red outfit instead of a black or purple one.  It was fun to do something different.  Well that's all I have today.  Hope you are all having a great week!  Mahalo for stopping by!!

LFF #42 - WITCHy Wryn

**Thanks to those of you who participated in my LFF #42 hunt! I appreciate you reading to the end. :) CONGRATULATIONS SHIRL!! I did use the word "witch" a total of 8 times (6 in the body, 1 in the title and one in the labels section).  Good eyes!  I'll get your goodies in the mail this week**

                                                                        *********

Happy Aloha Friday everyone!!

It's been a while since I last had a Lilo's Fun Friday post and today I actually have something fun to share. (Make sure to read to the end)  Now I'm not too much of a Halloween cardmaker, but I have loved seeing all the cute images and creations that have been scattered all around blogland and became inspired!  So for LFF #42 I made a Halloween card!  I picked up the new Witchy Wryn from Tiddly Inks and I have to say this little witch is super cute!!  Definitely Too Cute to Spook!

This is probably one of the only times I will color green skin.  (hahaha)  I did a simple design with a couple of layers of cardstock (black & orange) and a piece of leftover Halloween dp.  I distressed all the edges with the side of my scissors then added some black soot ink to give it a grunge look.  On top of all that is some cheesecloth witch looks like spiderwebs to me.  Not sure if you can tell but those are spiders along the side of the card and scattered here and there courtesy of my C.C. Cutters Spider border die from ATS.  The bats are actually part of that die and I didn't want to waste them so decided to scatter them around the card.

The sentiment, "Too cute to Spook" comes with Witchy Wryn and is perfect for this cutie pie. I printed it out on white cardstock and used two Spellbinders to cut and frame it out.  Distressed the inside with some green and edged with black Distress ink.  Also distress inked the orange frame with the same black ink.  I layered some cheesecloth over the top and added two of the spiders, then popped the last "bat" and in the corner.  If you look closely you'll see some green sparkle on the legs of the spiders, I used Stickles.

Lastly is Witchy Wryn and her two friends.  Not sure you can see but there is a friend hiding in her hat.  I went a bit too close to coloring the frog so after coloring her up with a brighter green I used the Stickles to make her pop.  Now she looks like a pretty jewel instead of the pet she was supposed to be. (eek!)  Witchy Wryn is colored with Copics and I tried my best to work on some folds.  I definitely need LOTS more practice but am pretty excited to have been able to finally color one of the Wryns and place her on a card.  I have definitely missed her and Christy keeps coming out with new ones, I can't keep up!  (hahaha)  I believe I saw a Halloween themed challenge at Tiddly Inks so I'm going to join the challenge.  It's been too long there too.

Well my friends, I just wanted to say a big Mahalo for stopping by and for always leaving lovely comments.  A big WELCOME to you if you're new to my blog.  I don't have too much time lately to stop by everyone's blog, but I'm going to try my best and visit to see what everyone has been up to.

Have a terrific Aloha Friday and a great weekend!!

LFF #42 Fun: If you can tell me how many times I used the word Witch in my post you'll get something in the mail from me.  Just leave it in the comments section.  If there are more than 1 with the correct answer then I will use random.org to choose a winner.  You'll have until 11:59pm on Sunday to guess and I'll announce the winner on Monday at the top of this post.

Happy hunting!! :)

Lilo

Today the A-Team has some fun Birthday creations to share with you.  Hop on over to the Lollipop Crafts blog for some fun birthday inspired cards.  And yep this bi-weekly challenge is all about making Birthday cards.  We all need them right?  Right!!

I wanted something fast so I went with a circular card and I chose one of the Kigurumi kids, Chasezilla, from Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  I colored him up with dark colors with a pop of some green.  The only other thing I added was that fuzzy cupcake that Chasezilla has his eye on and a handwritten sentiment.

Alrighty, hope to see lots of fun creations from you.   Mahalo for stopping by, have a terrific day!!

Y&FH challenge #5 - No Patterned Paper!

Hello everyone!

This week we are starting a new challenge at the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blogRosie is giving some of the DT a mild heart attack because this week she wants us to use NO PATTERNED PAPER!  Oh my!!!  Now for some of you it might be hard, but this is where you can have fun with embossing folders or stamps in the background OR you could break out your embossing plates and do textures on the papers.  Either way it should be a lot of fun to see how you all interpret the challenge.  For some awesome inspiration please head on over to the Y&FH blog, the DT came through with flying colors!

I went super CAS by using an embossing folder, an EKS border punch and Fumi with Gift

I thought it would be fun to use the Geisha embossing folder this time around.  I have hardly used her and she adds a nice background to the otherwise really white background.  The EKS border punch reminded me of an Asian border.  After coloring up Fumi with Gift I distressed the inside to give it that nice white border around.  Used the rectangle and scallop rectangle to frame her out.  Sorry I don't have a list of marker colors, I colored this way back when the Kimono series first debuted.  If I can remember or find the little post-it with the colors I will definitely list it.

We hope you will be able to play, there is a prize this time around and remember you can use several different stamp companies besides Yumi & Fumi Handmade stamps, although we'd love it if you played with Yumi & Fumi or any of their friends.  For a full list check out the Challenge tab on the main blog page.  Mahalo for stopping by, hope you all have a great week!

Happy Birthday Kim!!

Good morning everyone!!

Today is Kim Yu's birthday and a few of us are celebrating her special day.  Make sure to stop by the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog to see what the rest of the DT created and see which special guests are also participating.

When I first met Kim it was while she was on the TGF DT.  Little did I know that I would also be on the same team just at different times.  We also had a chance to work at Winter CHA and became fast friends. I have been a follower of her blog since I started mine.  She's an amazing crafter and a dedicated mom.  Always so creative and very generous.  I was so happy to find out that she lived so very close that we could possibly hang out and since then we've been able to meet up for lunch. Hoping to one day get a craft session going with her. I would definitely love to see her put something together.

I chose Fumi with Gift from Yumi & Fumi Handmade for my card and papers from BG Plumeria.

This card is pretty huge! It's actually a little over 6x6!  That's huge! I didn't want to break up that pretty paper so kept it as is.  As you can see I used a bunch of Spellbinders and punches. I kept it pretty simple.  Just layered up papers.  Oh I did add that punched border on the side, a tag is under that big bow and some hoarded lace to the top for a little girly touch.  There are some embossed parts too which tie into our current challenge at Y&FH.  See that sentiment?  I got that from Jenny.  It's perfect for my card because of the pretty pink color and well the sentiment.

Make sure to stop by Kim's blog and wish her a Happy Birthday.  Also make sure to stop by the Y&FH blog to see the rest of the team's birthday shares.

Wishing you all the best today and always Kim!! Happy Birthday friend!!

Have a great day everyone and Mahalo for stopping by!!

Chasezilla hearts Hot Cocoa

Hey everyone!!

Have you seen the Kigurumi Kids, the newest release from Yumi & Fumi Handmade yet?  If not, click here to see the release that took place while we were in Sacramento.  Yes, they can be used for Halloween, but they can be used for any occasion.  Take Chasezilla for instance, picture a Sunday morning all he wants to do is watch cartoons in his favorite Godzilla outfit and drink a big cup of hot cocoa with whip cream.  He loves whip cream!

I used papers from BG Plumeria and followed a layout used by Lisa McKinney in the new DTC Aug/Sep magazine (Vol 1 Issue 4, page 30).  Loved her CAS layout and thought it would definitely give me a nice backdrop for my card.

Here's the inside of the card... Keeping it simple with a fun sentiment stamp by Studio G.

With the embossing in the background it also relates to our new bi-weekly challenge on the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog.  Hope you can join us for the bi-weekly challenge.

It's seriously not hard to make a non-Halloweeny project with any of the Kigurumi Kids.  If you need inspiration just head on over to our blog and see some the cute ideas the design team created.  They truly are talented.  Alrighty, time for me to sign off.  Mahalo for stopping by!!  Have a great day!!

Lollipop Crafts - Sponsor Spotlight

Hey everyone!!

This week Lollipop Crafts blog is shining a spotlight on our sponsor Karber Stamps!!

How about a little bit more about them?

KARBER is a company created by Karla Barradas and Berenice Rendon. All began for passion to art and crafts, as friends we decided to join our different talents. In July 2010 that journey would lead us from hobby to a business and “Karber Digital Images” was created.  Recently, Karber Digital Images expanded to offer it's customers rubber stamps available through Sparkle Creations Store (http://www.shop-sparklecreationsrubberstamps.com/category/karber) and therefore,  have changed their name simply to Karber Stamps.  Visit Karber Stamps store at http://www.karberdigital.com/ or their blog at http://karbers.blogspot.com/.
This week's randomly chosen winner of the Something old & Something New challenge will receive 2 free digi images!  Good luck trying to narrow it down to just 2.  LOL!!  Hop on over to the LC blog to see what Dena created and then stop by next week to see the rest of the A-Team sponsor spotlight shares featuring more Karber stamps.

I decided to try something different this time around.  Yes I made a card, but I thought to myself, how fun would it be if the image was the actual card?  Well I found out and it actually turned out pretty darn cute! haha!  Meet my card (hehe) featuring Gift Millie:

The cool thing about digital images is how big or small you can go.  I decided to go big as I wanted to make her in to a card.  She measures the same as a 4x4 card.  I had a lot of fun coloring her hair (Copics: E29, E79) and all her lovely skin (Copics: E000, E21, E01, E51, R20, white gel pen)!!  I kept the rest of her pretty simple going with red (R46) and white (gel pen) with a touch of green (YG03) and yellow (Y21).  I did say she was a card yea?  When you flip her open there is a little message inside.

So if you think outside the box you never know what fun projects you'll come up with.  Make sure to check the LC blog next Wednesday where some other DT members will have projects using these darling images.  And don't forget to link up your card or project to our current challenge, using something new and old, which can be found here.

Thank you for stopping by today!! Have a good 1/2 way to Friday day!!
Hugs,
Leanne
