MM - Blushin' with Beanscrapandsheep

Hello Friends!  Hope you all had an enjoyable weekend and that you are rested and ready for another week of fun challenges with us at the Farm Fresh Challenge blog.  I hope so cause this week we are starting off with a cool Mystery Monday Case with 1LuvnMama.  She chose a familiar face from the gallery and the card she chose is pretty cool.  This week we are case'ing Beanscrapandsheep!  Here is her vintage card:

How cool does this card look?!!  Way!!  Love the vintage feel and the use of the pearls and the clocks somehow work.  This is a great pick for this week.  To see what the other ladies created pop on over to the FFC blog by clicking HERE.  I am enjoying the new Blush girls so for my card I chose to use Blush Bonnie.  I kept the card vintage, but with pops of a sunset color.  I hope I did her card justice.


I inked her in brown and colored her using some different brown tones and oranges to change it up a bit.  I actually love the end result.  The fun printed paper with the pops of those oranges accented with the dark kraft and dark brown papers create a pretty dramatic feel to me.   Her hair is also a different color for me, and I love it!  I paper pieced her dress with this awesome dark brown Stardream cs I forgot I had and wet embossed it using copper powder to show the dress details.  For the curly cues I used my teammate's, Tasha, favorite embellishment, Viva color pen in Copper and just made my own pattern.  I wrote in the sentiment along the circle edge, and it is the same sentiment that comes with Bonnie.

The hardest cards to make

Hello Friends,
I hope you are all having a great weekend.  It's certainly summer here in Cali and boy is Mother Nature giving us a lot of heat!  But it's been great!  Hope you are all enjoying some fine weather. : )

I don't know about you all but I think the hardest cards to make are Sympathy cards.  I say they are hard because you never want to have to make one.  My dad's cousin passed away and he went to the funeral on Friday.  He asked me to make a card for their family and I knew it had to be special because it was for family.  I made two so he could choose one, the second one I would keep.  Using kraft and dark brown as my color scheme, I chose a floral embossing background, two different Spellbinder frames and tropical flowers for the center.  I also added twine and a MS butterfly.   This particular flower is from Stampendous and the sentiment is from the Greeting Farm (retired set).

Here is the second one that is similar but different.  I chose another set of flowers this time from the Greeting Farm set (retired) and the sentiment is from Stampendous.  I really like the simplicity of these cards and I know that I could make these into any kind of card, not just Sympathy cards.  It's all in the sentiment I think.

As there are sympathy cards, there are also Christening cards.  Yesterday my co-worker baptized her son, so I had to make him a card.  Since the christened are usually dressed in white I decided to go with an almost all white card with a pop of blue.  Of course he had to have brown hair, but the rest of the card is mostly white.  I still had the left over bottom part of WS Daniel from the graduation card I swapped out his upper half for.  I used Oh Boy Ian to top him off.  Yes, another swap.  I am also using my newest set of Spellbinders, Wonky rectangles (yay), and a fun star-studded embossing folder.  I had to add some clouds, a few punched out stars and a white ribbon.  Yep had to.. lol...

Alrighty my friends, I hope Sunday brings you all some rest and relaxation.  As for me, I have a few cards to finish and a small project or two.  It's going to be a busy week for me so I have to use my Sunday to try to get ahead.  Mahalo for stopping by, have a wonderful Sunday!

How you doing cards...

Hello Friends,
Hope you are all enjoying your Saturday.  I'm back to share some fun and easy cards I made for my dad.  My dad normally doesn't ask me to make cards so when he does it's a big deal.  He was going to visit my aunt, his brother's wife, and asked me to make him a couple "Hey, how you doing?" cards.  I was happy to do them for him.  He said, No make em too fancy, k?  Since it was a last minute request I wanted to keep it simple and fun.  Pick an image, cardstock, fun paper and maybe an embellishment or two.  I already knew I wanted to make two circle cards.  They are pretty fast and it's very rare to receive them.  I used kraft cs for the card base and then went with a fun bright patterned papers.  Keeping in the circle theme was easy since I used some Spellbinders, an embossing folder, and let the fun papers and images for the focal points.  Unfortnately what took the longest was choosing two images.  I really didn't want to do too much coloring so I knew it had to be a small image.  I was flipping through my stamps and came across the owls from the Hoo Loves You set from TGF.  Score!  One down!

I love how fun the colors are here.  The owl looks pretty cool perched on his make-shift bar.  I wrote in that sentiment.  Thought it was funny. 

I thought to myself, why not keep it animal themed and chose another fun TGF retired set, Down by the Pond.  I chose the adorable frog.  I know he's not really an animal, more reptile, but hopefully you get the theme I was going for.  A few little changes and here is the result. 

Yes that is a cloud background, I am so lovin' how cool it looks!  I'm addicted.  LOL.  I thought I chose the perfect sentiment stamp from AmyR stamps.  When I saw it I giggled it was so perfect!

Isn't it perfect?  hehehe, still makes me giggle.  Alrighty my friends I have to get going, got a busy day ahead of me.  I'll hopefully have another share for you tomorrow.  Wow, I can't believe I've posted so many days in a row!  Mahalo for stopping to see what I've been up to.  I hope you have a fabulous day!  Take care!

FFF - Christmas in July?

Hello Friends and Happy Friday!!

Yes you read correctly, it's another FFF challenge and we are ringing in today with a Christmas theme.   It's beginning to look a lot like...July?!? Ok, so it's not quite time for hot chocolate and candy canes, more like sunscreen and beach towels but here at the Farm Fresh Challenge blog we are celebrating Christmas in July! Make any kind of project you want as long as we think of Christmas trees, mittens and Santa.  For some inspiration head on over to the FF challenge blog post HERE.

My card is a bit different for a Christmas card.  Unorthodox colors and a different kind of image.  If not for the sentiment, you would probably think that I was off my rocker.  (hehe)  I did another head swap using Cute Troop Anya & Ian Laddie (Thanks to the Farmer's Mkt)  Instead of going with the traditional Christmas color of red, I chose to use pink with my green.  Didn't you know?  It's the new "red." (hehe) 
I spruced up her paper pieced kilt & sash with some Stickles and a little bit of bling.  I also did the same with her fabulous beret, adding a fun button and lots of glitter.  I chose a circle card this time around.  The layout was something simple and fun.  The Joy sentiment is actually a punch out from the K&Company Scrap pad (Peabody) and the patterned paper is also from the same paper pad.  I hand wrote, "to the World" in a punched out circle so that you could "see" it as a Christmas themed card.

Alrighty, it's now your turn to unearth those Christmas papers, punches, and stamps.  We want to see what Christmas in July means for you.  Have fun with it!
