Ariel's wish, Today belongs to YOU

Hello friends!  The Play Date Cafe has a new challenge (#80) up and here is the photo inspiration:

Don't you think the colors are totally summer?  Definitely!  Here's what I came up with:

When I saw the color story I wanted to do something summery because of the color scheme.  I also wanted to use an image that I had never used.  First off I picked the papers.  I chose this awesome dp from K&Company (Eloise).  The orange card(stock) is from Hanko Designs.  Next was the image.  If you don't recognize her, she is Disney's Princess Ariel, aka The Little Mermaid.  Framed her out using an oval Nestie and added a border with Memento Potter's Clay.

How about a close up of the Princess herself?

I think out of all the Disney princesses I like her the most. :)

The image & sentiment are clear stamps from EKS.  Next came the accessories.  The orange flowers are from Recollections; I pulled off the green leaves and adhered them to the MS punched red flowers.  The satin ribbon was tied into a simple knot and I added two small butterflies punched using a MS punch around the sentiment.  In her hair is a flower and inside the flower is a pearl because she IS from the sea. :)

I will try to list the markers I used, but only if I remember to write them down.  This is something I used to do and will now get into the habit again.  Today, I remembered so here is a list of the Copic colors I used:
Skin: E02, 50, 51| Hair: E07,09 R05, 22| Eyes: B04| Flower & Top: YR02,04,09

I think I'm going to also enter this in my first Flutter By challenge (#153) which is open as long as there is a butterfly, fairy or angel included.

Ok my friends, have a wonderful Thursday and be back for my FFF challenge post for TGF-FFC blog

Mahalo for your lovely comments and for stopping by!

For now, I want to share another quick card I made for my dad's birthday back in March.  I believe this probably took 20 minutes to make.  The images (Tiki & leaf) are from a clear set from Fiskars which I stamped on kraft colored cs.  The frame was cut out using the deckled rectangles with blue cs (Hanko) and dark brown cs (Neenah).  I used raffia for the bow.  The hardware is from Creative Imaginations.  Used diamond glaze on the tiki and these were all mounted onto an orange card (Hanko cardstock).

Hope you're all having a great day!  I'm outtie for now, but will be back soon.  Mahalo for stopping by!!

Lilo

A Berry Special Hello!

Happy Monday everyone!!  I'm sorry that my post is late, had a busy Sunday and didn't get a chance to finish my post.  So thank you for your patience!!

Today at the Farm Fresh Challenge blog we are excited to have a new card to CASE.  Today's pick was chosen by our very own Island Mama, 1LuvNMama.  She chose Tanya Tahir's card and I had so much fun CASE'ing it.  Here's a peek at Tanya's fantastik card:

I really like all the polka dots going on here, as well as the use of her patterned paper.  For my card, I chose to use the adorable Amelia from the OA My Fav Thing stamp set.  If you can believe it, I have never inked her up!  I know, so I made up for it by inking her up for today's card.

Yes, PINK hair!!!  I wanted to make up for the no pink challenge, and boy did I!  hahaha.  I've always pictured this particular Amelia with pink hair, she so reminded me of Strawberry Shortcake.  Gave her some yellow sparklies and not really sure how the cupcake comes in to play, but I gave that a bit of sparkle too.  I think I might have gone overboard with the patterned papers.  What's funny is that I only used 2 different sheets from the same paper pad.  But boy are they bright!  As you can see, I was going for a berry theme today and the strawberry in her hair matched the pp I chose.  The color scheme is a bit out there for me, but I think I do like it.  Must be because of all the brown that cut the brightness of the pinks & greens.  hehehe.

For more inspiration, check out how the design team case'd Tanya's card HERE.  We'd love to see your wonderful creations in the Galleria.  So if you're ready to play along, all you have to do is upload your card or project to the TGF Galleria>FarmFreshChallenges2011>Monday Case Mystery>Tanya Tahir.  I'm excited to see what inspires you and how that inspiration transforms into something fabulous.   A reminder on the challenge details:

  • Use ANY TGF image
  • Upload project to the Galleria by Sunday, 12 pm CST
  • Winner will be randomly chosen to win a free single TGF image.
  • Most importantly.... HAVE FUN!!
In closing, I just wanted to say Mahalo for your lovely comments yesterday.  My mom had a really gr8 birthday.  We took her to El Torito for dinner, and came back to the house to enjoy the Lemon Meringue cake.  She was really surprised when she opened her gift from all of us.  We all pitched in and got her an Amazon.com Kindle or e-reader.  She was really excited.  We also purchased a Lakers cover for the Kindle.  She really liked that. : )

Okie dokie, have a wonderful Monday, and a fantastik week.  Mahalo for stopping by!

Mom, Sweet Birthday Wishes!

Hello and happy Sunday Ohana!  Can you believe it's already May?!!  Time is just flying by!

I'm here today to share a card I made for my momma.  Today is not only the first day of May, but also her birthday!  I chose the cute Cupcake Marci to shine on her card, (Thank you Irina).  Of course I had to pair her up with some fun BG cupcake paper, and I just happened to get some in the mail the other day, (Thank you Irina).  I paper-pieced her outfit with some scraps from a project Renate and I are working on, added a paper rose to her hairband and colored her in with Copics.  I substituted the heart on top of the cupcake for a yellow rose, which I stamped.  Here she is up close:

The rest of the card came together pretty quickly.  A fun sentiment, a hand-cut banner, a MS border punch, another paper rose, some distressing and here is what the finished card looks like:

This card is going to be accompanied by a yummy lemon-meringue cake, my baker friend, Doreen, made for me.  That's my mom's favorite pie, but she wanted to experiment with a cake version.  Can't wait to taste it.

Ok, just a reminder you can purchase any of the wonderful and cute stamps from La-La Land in the store.  Digital image or deeply edged red rubber, your choice, either way you will love them all.  Lastly, don't forget to upload your cards or projects to the Customer Gallery, I've been enjoying them and we love to see a full gallery of your projects featuring the cute La-La Land images.

Happy May 1st everyone and enjoy the rest of your weekend!!  MAHALO for stopping by!
Hugs,
Lilo
